I found two charges on my bank statement, from the times they had held my card, even though I had paid in cash. I had not signed the receipt. Last time I was in there, the "night manager", asked me for my card. I told her I couldn't do that, since twice, I had been charged even though I had paid cash. Her response was "I still have to have the card because "I don't know you". She did not bother to check with any of the other bartenders, to ask about serving me previously. She also did not bother to even look the least bit concerned about the charges. She took the beer with both hands, raised her voice somewhat and said "then you can't drink here", making sure to inject some drama. The whole encounter demonstrated a COMPLETE lack of people skills, and an immediate willingness to be confrontational with regard to anything other than, "SHE" did not know me, without any attempt to do anything other than bully, control, and disregard the problem with the card being charged. You have to go out of your way to disrespect somebody to treat them that way, She was right about not drinking there. Putting someone that lacking in people skills coupled with a personality quick to escalate to confrontation in a management position, tells me all I need to know.

Have been back since then. Talk about your corner hole in the wall type places. It's located in the middle of an L shaped strip building. Inside is clean, and spacious. Nothing fancy here, but plenty of tables and a few booths. They have a covered outside patio, which might even be fully enclosed, with some pool tables. The bar location is on the back wall, with lots of seating. Full bar, with a reasonable amount of draft beers, and several good ones along with the normal commercial swill. I sat at the bar both times, and got great service. First time I did the usual and checked out the salsa and queso. Both were good and didn't taste like pre made stuff. If it was, well they picked a couple of winners. The serving was more than ample, more then I could eat over the course of the visit. Second time I went back, I was going to make a point to try the onion rings since they looked so good in the pics. As I was looking at the menu I noticed they had a Montecristo sandwich. As I've mentioned before, I have yet to find anything that even remotely comes close to the holy grail of MC sandwiches, the one and only made by Bennigan's. Of course, I ordered it, and the onions rings. I'm happy to say the MC here is the closest I've ever come to find. It was really good, and the jam served with it was also pretty dead on. It was a little nasty like it should be, but not as greasy as it should be, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The onion rings were really good, even if the batter was flaking off a bit. Anyway, I like the place, wish I could drag myself out more. Been customers here every time I've been, but not as many that should be. Since we don't live in the area, we're not sure how new it is, but the space itself definitely makes an impression. The atmosphere is awesome -- very moody and chic with a cool, trendy vibe. It feels thoughtfully designed and would be a great spot to hang out with friends if you're not in a rush. We were warmly greeted by the manager and hostess, which made for a great first impression. That said, the experience quickly slowed down -- and I mean really slowed down. First tip: do not go here if you're in any kind of hurry. Service was incredibly slow from start to finish. Our waitress also had a noticeable undertone of attitude, which didn't help the pacing issue. We ordered iced tea, an appetizer, and a salad to start. The salad unfortunately came absolutely drenched in dressing. We also ordered the garlic cheese bombs, which were actually very good -- though by the time they arrived, we were so hungry from waiting that anything might have tasted amazing. There were several small service details that added up. We had to ask for straws, we had to ask for plates, and we even had to ask for ice for the iced tea. We were never offered drink refills the entire time we were there. Everything is served on small appetizer plates, and when our pizza arrived (which was good -- fluffy dough with great flavor), we had to ask for new plates. The response was, "Do you want more plates?" which felt a bit strange. We also weren't given any pizza serving utensils, so we ended up using butter knives to cut it. Overall, this place has a very cool, chic vibe and the food itself has good flavor. However, the service was extremely slow and came with a bit of attitude, which made the experience frustrating. If you're looking for a laid-back evening and have plenty of time, it could be worth a visit -- just don't expect quick or particularly attentive service.
