Mongolian has been a favourite and my visit to Kamloops brought me to this place for a buffet lunch . 14.99 for weekdays buffet and the concepts plays the same way as most Mongolian do , starting from picking an empty bowl and filling ur bowls with noddles veggies proteins and sauces for the thrill to grill by the grill Chef of Hoja. Good thing is that if you waste food here u need to pay a fine of $5 , so folks are cautious while taking second n third helping from the buffet . We asked the grill chef to add spicy teriyaki sauce to the mix while grilling , a minute grill makes the food quite appetizing ! The only disappointment I had was choice of protein is limited to beef/pork/chicken , no option for seafood ,one point lost by the place due to not much variety in proteins !! Probably the best value meal we've had during our time in Canada so far. $15 CAD for AYCE lunch buffet; drinks are $2.99 CAD and are refillable. We were seated immediately, and near the buffet area too. Grab a metal bowl and get started! Three types of noodles, lots of vegetables / other sides, three types of pre sliced / frozen meat, and lots of sauces! I'd recommend starting off with small portions of what you want to be mixed because the bowl fills up rather quickly, and if it's your first time here, you're not going to know which of the sauces you like mixing into your food. I wish the restaurant provided some beginner combinations for their newer patrons to circumvent this. After you grab your raw ingredients, you set them onto a counter where the chef will take them from you to cook! Definitely fun to see your food being made in front of you, but it's not that novel of a process so watching it the first time is enough to satiate you. Once done, just take your plate from him and you can move down to put even more sauce / toppings onto your meal before eating it. As I said before, I wish the restaurant gave us sauce recommendations to start ourselves out with because I found my first plate to be fairly bland; I either didn't use enough sauce or I didn't mix mine well enough to have a better depth of flavor. My second plate was much better. Service was a little lacking despite being seated quickly. Drink orders were taken and delivered in a timely manner, but it was a bit hard to flag our waitress down for a refill. Also, I had to wait a bit for the cook to come back from somewhere, and by that time other customers were also waiting for their food to be cooked as well. I can't imagine the wait time for getting your food cooked when this place gets busy. Overall, a nice experience and good value for what it was. Food is amazing. I always want to come here for lunch anytime me and my family goes out. Some people say it's bland but there's like 12 different sauces you can add to your food prior to cooking. Lunch time it's very quiet and most the time we are the only ones there. If you have any gluten intolerance they have gluten free noodles and if you tell the chef he will clean the grill and add blockers so gluten can't get contaminated. I highly recommend read more

This restaurant offers a clean eating option for those who want asian inspired food with less additives, chemicals and sauces. My preference is beef and chorizo on a small bed of noodles with sesame oil, sweet and spicy and mongolian sauce. Its always a toss up how to handle the tip, but I usually default to splitting between the Cook and the Server as they both have separate tip jars. The fact this joint is an all you can eat for a low price adds that fifth star to the equation as we often go back for seconds and get a great value for our hard earned dollars. Nicely set-up Mongollie grill style, with a large selection of vegetables and proteins. In typical fashion of these places, you take a bowl and create your rown meal, and they grill it in front of you. My two issues with the place: $22++ for the dinner buffet is ridiculous -- living in Vancouver, there are many of these places for well under $20 for dinner all-you-can-eat; and the second is the lame, watered down sauces they have which will never adequately season your food -- they do provide a few more sauces to add after grilling, but it's annoying that they don't have better sauces to add pre-cooking. The three star rating this place is getting is not because the food is bad, because it isn't. The food is delicious. Nor is it because the service is bad, it's as good as any buffet style place I've ever been. The only reason that the rating isn't tops is because of the absolute shock to find out upon receiving the bill that our three adult meals, and one 3 year old, worked out to approximately $72. (No alcohol) While I'm not against paying $18.95 a plate I was not aware the bill would be that much and it seams to me a little high for stir fry. That being said I will still definitely be going back during lunch as $13 is not unreasonable. 3.5 Stars here. Lots of food. Lots of choice. Good service. Fair prices. But, I did not like the Beef. It was very chewy and tough. I did not try the Chicken or the Pork. I thought the cook looked very bored, and during our lunch hour visit, we had to call for him twice. I think it is a good concept. It was fast . It was not busy at all . Hoja is the best Mongolian restaurant in Kamloops. It started very recently and already got huge popularity. Foods are awesome! And the best part is you can eat as much as you like with just one payment. You can eat a plate or 3 plates.. pay as much as you would for 1 plate! And you can choose what veges, meet or oils you wanna mix (there are plenty to choose from) and the cook will prepare it in front of you! That's fresh cooked food! The service is good but I found the food rather bland. I tried various combinations of spices but did not seem to add any flavour. It is extremely overpriced! Yes it's all you can eat but essentially all you're getting are ramen noodles and frozen veggies. No thanks! I'll make the same thing at home for $0.75 rather than pay $21 here! read more

I love going to Hoja. Last time I went the cook mixed my bowl in with another person's who liked to put all the weird stuff in their bowl like shrimp, clams, beans, and chickpeas. I mean who eats that stuff in Mongolia? Nobody! That's who. I can forgive the cook because it was a Friday night and was insanely busy, but I can't forgive the customer. Geeze! I love Hoya! Food is great! It's like cooking your own dinner without the work of actually cooking it or cleaning up! Some may argue that the dinner price is a little high, but maybe you've never been to a normal restaurant? Food is great, you can stuff yourself and have a delicious custom meal. Food is well labelled as are the sauces (if you're GF, etc.). Staff are great, always happy to take care of you. I'm always down for Hoya. read more

We have been to several Mongolian grills and agreed that this one is the best. they have a great selection to choose from. The location is great, the staff were attentive and friendly and there are lots of seats. I have to agree on the other comments that the price is very steep. read more

Staff is wonderful, food is great, fresh and always fully stocked. We eat here often. Highly recommended. Have yet to go there when they have an "off" day.... So my guess is they don't have them ! Go here ! Kid approved as well. read more
