We waited 3 days to get in here and it was worth the wait. They were closed the other times we stopped by and I'm so glad we had another night to try again. The ambiance was lacking but they did have a cozy, family vibe inside. The service was friendly and attentive. They did not have Samosa Chaat (one of our favs) so we shared two dishes. The shahi paneer and their vegetable korma, both with a medium spice level. We were pretty hungry when we went in and dug in right away. Every year I come up to British Columbia on business, and every year the first place I go is Kohinoor. It's just a tiny restaurant, but the dining room has a great view of Kamloops. The service is attentive and friendly, and the food is excellent. Try their butter chicken or their buffet. Yummy! read more

DO NOT BE SCARED OFF BY THE EXTERIOR! Yes, the nearby hotel is abandoned and boarded up. Yes, the exterior of the building looks like it hasn't been maintained in years. Once you go inside, you're struck by the clean, well maintained, and tasteful decor. The service is excellent, as the server was friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. The samosa appetizers were hot and fresh. The garlic naan bread was delicious. The chicken tikka masala was the crown jewel of the experience. A great Indian and Nepali restaurant located on the hill with a good view of the river and the town below. Most curry, Naan, appetizers are made from scratch in homemade style and taste great! The Samosas were flavorful and served with chickpeas and homemade chutney. The "medium spicy" chicken tikka masala was a bit on the warm side of scale, but tasted very good. The naan was fresh and warm, made to Oder! The food is really good, but make sure to leave room for some Kheer for dessert! To top it all, the service is great! read more

The food is absolutely AMAZING. Prices for what you get are very reasonable...portions are huge. We ordered from the menu this time, but their lunchtime buffet is exceptional. The food is always hot and there's always a great selection to choose from. The hosts and their staff are wonderful...polite, fun, efficient! I wanted to know how Poppadums are cooked and bless the server, she took me to the kitchen and asked the chef to show me. The kitchen is absolutely spotless! Although the food was amazing, the delivery took over an hour and a half and we were quoted 45mins for a $7 delivery fee. I'm just thankful the food was hot. I would suggest advising customers that the curry comes with rice so we don't order extra rice again. read more

We were passing through Kamloops and had a craving for some good Indian food! We found this place on yelp and liked what we saw in the other reviews so we thought we would take a chance! We weren't disappointed with this family run restaurant! The restaurant is very clean and cozy with a great view of Kamloops...the mountains and the river off in the distance was pretty to look at. We were seated at a big round table by the fireplace. Everything we ordered was super tasty with the perfect spice level. The Butter Chicken was very balanced and had a good depth of flavour. It was creamy and rich and had the perfect amount of tomato. My Brother and Sister in law had travelled through India and Nepal last year so they were pleased to see cuisine from Népal on the menu. We ordered an order of Momos. The waitress warned us that it takes time to make the dumplings. We appreciated the heads up but I think what we appreciated most was that they take the time to make true, yummy authentic food! All the dishes were delicious and the service was great. Totally impressed with this restaurant! The staff make you feel as if you are a guest in their own home. My friend and I arrived after closing time and they graciously served us. The food was fantastic and we live in Vancouver where Indian food is very common with our huge South Asian population. My friend has also traveled to India many times! The food was very much on par with my Indian friend's home cooking. I suspect that the cook and my friend come from the same region. We had a tasty biryani, naan, grilled shrimps and paneer in a tomato sauce and vegetable pakoras. The server was happy to make suggestions to help us choose a good combination of items. We first sat outside enjoying the gorgeous city view. When we decided to move inside the waitress was helpful and happy to oblige. Inside we asked what time they closed & found out that they had actually accepted us after their 9:00pm Monday night closing time. We apologized for keeping them late and asked why they had not turned us away. The charming and excellent host said that, " we looked hungry". We were tired and hungry! Kohinoor was a great treat! I order vegetable samosa's, pankora for starters and my kids devoured everything. My children are very picky eaters and today was the day that I really didn't care if they ate a morsel. We had butter chicken and rojan josh (very spicy), flavourful and delicious.
