We ordered fish goa curry (has coconut in it), lamb korma, & butter chicken of course. One Roti, garlic & spinach naans. They took a while to come but the wait was totally worth it. The spicing in the sauces was truly done with care & a delight w each bite. I do believe the chef when he said each dish & sauce was made from scratch. They were so good we kept eating even when v full. The fish goa curry & butter chicken were particularly tasty. Took all the leftovers home! Needed no assurance from my in laws that not one drop would be wasted. Haha. Aside from the roti which was bit dry & seemed like the naan deep fried?, the 2 naans were delicious. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat. Just go 1/2 hr or so before u get too rumbly hungry. Recommended! read more

This place is hit & miss and given the amount of Indians and tourists that come the city, I'm sure there are better places in town that are consistent when it comes to customer service and quality of the meal. The first time it was Slammin!" and I couldn't get enough of it then the next was lame and this last time they weren't even open! I might give them one more chance and hope they get it right... Visited Maurya's with my husband with our 4 and 5 year old. Was a little concerned we may not find something on the menu for the kids but quickly learned they make an in house mango smoothie and offer complimentary fries for the kids which was great! Still ordered them a mild butter chicken and they loved it. Husband and I tried the lamb curry, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and samosas. All excellent. The to-go boxes weren't ideal as we were travelling and wouldn't withstand a car ride home without leaking but this might have been avoided if we mentioned in advance we were on the road. Highly recommend if you're looking for good Indian food. Go hungry. read more

We did have our food to go, that said the food Chicken Tika Masala was bland, under spiced. Aloo Gobi was good, cauliflower over cooked, mushy. The lentil soup in veggie stack was good! We had just arrived in Kamloops, kinda in the middle of the BC valley. We wanted something a little different. We were recommended to try Maurya's. We don't know if it was the only Indian spot in town. But if it was, then Kamloopians need to aim a little higher in their pursuits. Clearly this is a family run business, and from the looks of things on a late Sunday night, many other Indian families were also there, chatting, serving themselves from a buffet counter. So far, so good. The problem with Maurya's is that it's so regular. The sauces were bland and not the expected "hot", as the menu billed. The Chicken Tikka Masala was something I could have made in a few minutes --no real kick, nothing distinctive, the pieces of chicken also not too moist. The Samosas were a little too dense and had no appeal to them, even when you dipped them in sauce. The cucumber salad with carrots was underdressed, with jutting chunks of carrots pretty much taking over the whole dish. I actually had the feeling that were we in a Mexican restaurant, the mixture for a couple of our chicken dishes really would not have been that much different from a burrito filling. It was that uneventful. There was little if any zip or freshness or even herbs in any of our dishes. Sure we ate a lot and there was plenty to go around, but honestly, this almost was Indian-lite, and had none of the zest and tang I came to expect from Indian cuisine. read more

Mmm! I'm pretty sure I could eat at Maurya's everyday and not get tired of it. The food there is that good! I have yet to be disappointed. Maurya's is a great place for the vegetarian or vegan in your life. Traditionally, Indian cuisine offers a wide variety of veg-friendly dishes and Maurya's is no exception. The malai kofta and the saag paneer are my personal favourites. All of their dishes are available in a range of spice levels so don't hesitate to let your server know how spicy you like it. The high quality of food is exactly the same when you order takeout as when you choose to dine-in. Personally I prefer to eat at the restaurant since the service here is fantastic. The staff are all knowledgeable about everything on the menu and are eager to make suggestions. Our waitress even noticed that the wrong type of naan bread had been brought to our table and made a point to fix it right away. If you're interested in taking in some delicious Indian cuisine in a warm, friendly atmosphere, I definitely recommend checking out Maurya's. read more

We ordered from Maurya's for the first time tonight and we were very impressed with everything about our meal. We have had good Indian food in Kamloops, but I don't think we knew what we were missing until now. We ordered the hot option and I can't imagine what extra hot would have been like. Which, to us, is a compliment. The food had a home made flavour about it and, as a bonus, the amount of chicken was great. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant! read more

Best experience I have had in a restaurant in ages. The updates to the restaurant are fabulous and the service was above and beyond. The food here has always been great but the new cocktails were such a pleasant surprise! Had dinner on June 3, with extended family. The owner/chef is from Lucknow, India a place very well respected for its culinary heritage. We asked for chef's recommendations for a chicken dish, a lamb dish and ordered basmati rice with jeera tarka ( was not on menu), with some yellow daall. The food and dining experience was AMAZING!!! Restaurant: 3.5/5 typical indian restaurant wall coverings, a small bar, a shelf along the window with neat little things you'd expect. The tables are a good size,and the chairs comfortable.Prices are reasonable Food: 4.5/5 I am absolutely in love with the Butter chicken, havnt had better. Other dishes are well prepared, the appies are great and have variety. The whole menu in itself is well stocked with a variety of different dishes including some Thai dishes. Staff/service:5/5 we are almost always served buy the seemingly only white employee. He gives great service and refills drinks almost instantly, also checks in frequently so make sure things are tastey. all in all, my favourite indian place in kamloops read more

Unbelievably delicious food - better than any we ate while living in Vancouver! I wish we could teleport and eat here more often.
