My child has been taking classes with Maca for eight months to prepare for our summer trip to Spain. My child has gained so much Spanish knowledge that they were placed in the intermediate Spanish language summer class. We had a great family vacation and my child was able to form basic sentences in Spanish and was able to communicate with kids on the playground. I was unsure of how a Zoom based class would work but my child really enjoys class with Maca. We will continue classes with Maca during the year to enhance our child's Spanish ability. Maca has been very easy to schedule during busy travel seasons and has always been warm and responsive when schedule changes happen. My 8 year old niece and 9 year old bonus daughter truly love her and have been enjoying their weekly interactive classes. They can't stop talking about them and Maca! My daughter learned "un poco español" in preschool and really took to it so we thought might as well capitalize on that enthusiasm early. She's of course still young and easily distracted so I was dubious about Zoom instruction but Maca's lesson structure keeps her focused and engaged. She incorporates learning through unique songs and singing to increase retention and conversational flow. My son has been learning Spanish with Maca for nearly 6 months and he now feels comfortable speaking at restaurants and to his friends who speak native Spanish. Maca has been tutoring our 6 year old (Kindergarten) for a weekly lesson. My daughter just started learning Spanish at school but was interested in getting more exposure and practice. We feel so fortunate to have found Maca! My daughter looks forward to the lesson each week and loves learning Spanish with Maca. We've seen incredible progress the past few months! At first I was skeptical about whether a virtual (Zoom) lesson would work for a 6 yo but Maca keeps her students engaged with her enthusiasm, fun practice games, and switching between activities to keep the lesson moving. Each lesson starts and ends with a similar routine/song but every week she practices past words/skills and introduces new vocabulary. My daughter is so enthusiastic and proud to share what she learned after each lesson. Maca is engaged, warm, and has strong interpersonal skills. She is flexible and adapts her lessons to suit each student and she is incredibly patient which is necessary when working with young learners. We are so glad we found Maca! We started doing lessons with her for our 5 year old to prepare him to enter a full immersion school. She successfully engaged him over zoom (not an easy thing to do!) with songs and games. She saw that he loves to draw and found ways to incorporate that into her sessions. When things started to open up again, she created immersive lessons in outdoor settings that got him excited about speaking Spanish in a really natural way - it never felt like a "lesson." The first time he approached a Spanish-speaking family on the playground to say "hola", I knew that Maca's teaching style was not only improving his pronunciation and vocabulary, but also increasing his confidence in an amazing way. Fast forward two years, and my son is requesting summer lessons with Maca so he can show her the Spanish he learned in first grade. But they enjoyed how Maca made the basics of spanish fun . She makes the class fun by teaching them ryhmes in spanish & showing videos based on the occasion / festival or time of the year.
