Before this I would've given them at least 4starts but definitely not anymore. I having been going to this salon for more then 3 years, never have I felt more uncomfortable then I did this past weekend when I left crying. I called and made an appt a few days prior to get some highlights and lowlights. Upon arriving I showed the stylest the photo that I wanted done containing some blonde highlights and Merlot(burgundy) lowlights. I sat in the chair for more 6 hours with foils of bleach and what was suppose to be Merlot color lowlights, to my surprise was neither color. I now have vibrant purple, hott pink, white, brassy orange blonde and whitish blue hair. Nothing like the photo I showed her. I know it would've taken at least a couple session a to get my hair exactly the way I wanted it. I walked out of that salon crying, how am I suppose to go to work let alone leave my house with these colors n my hair, I am almost thirty years old and with years of trying to grow my hair out have to find another salon that can fix this and have been told by a few stylests that there is a huge possibility that I have to go severely short. That means more money and having to purchase a wig to cover-up this god awful hair!!!

I went into Alexlar after making an appointment over the phone with one of their stylists. For the appointment, I brought several reference photos, including one of myself from a few years back when I had a similar haircolor ,and ones that included what I was looking for in terms of color and style. I expressed to the stylist that I wanted as little of my length cut off as possible, but I understood that it needed a healthy trim as I hadn't been to a salon in some time. The stylist explained that to achieve the color I wanted , it may take a few sessions. I was disappointed to hear that it would not be done that day but I accepted that in good faith and with trust. After 3.5 hours getting to the end of the appointment, I asked for a blow out which I also didn't get, I got coils. I assumed, with hope and dismay, that once I relaxed my hair I would be able to appreciate the final product. This is what I was left with. The cut is embarrassingly uneven, I am mortified by the length of my once long hair that I felt very attached to, and I didn't even get to leave with the color I wanted to top it off. I called the salon immediately the next morning and expressed that I was in shock by my hair. The owner did ask me to come in to take a look at it and I accepted. I went in a few days later to speak to the owner. We discussed the situation, and she offered to cut my hair evenly, but I didn't feel comfortable with the salon cutting my hair again. I also expressed that I didn't feel that I got to leave the salon with /anything/ that I went in for and on top of it I had lost sooo much hair and length that could not be remedied. I also did not want to come back for the rest of the previously mentioned "process" for color because again, I do not feel comfortable. The only resolution that I felt was correct was to receive a refund, which to me would go to getting it fixed by a salon that I can trust, and go toward extensions to just try to recover what I lost. The owner denied that request, with the exception of perhaps $20 out of my almost $200 that i paid, which I refused. She also offered me some hair care products including for hair growth, and I declined that as well. She assured me that my hair would grow back but that just doesn't feel comforting when the only reason it's so short for me in the first place is because of this. I will say that my stylist was incredibly hospitable during my appointment and seems like a very nice girl, but I'm beyond disappointed by the whole experience, frustrated, and not feeling very good about myself. I'm feeling confused and discouraged that I'm left with a final result that I'm embarrassed by and out so much money, also shortly before nice weather, vacations, etc. I'm just giving a warning to others because I would feel very bad if this happened to you too and I didn't say anything. They don't seem to have Any sort of satisfaction guarantee and I am regretting not knowing that ahead of time.

And don't even think about being late not even 2 minutes because she will either lecture you like your her 2 year old or she'll leave and go home without notice. When I walked in the two women were not paying attention just talking to one another in the salon chairs. I approach the counter and greeted with a hello, then they just came up to me with a response of "What do want?" with a tone that just felt as if i did not belong. Not even a smile or a smirk at least given. I proceeded to my question which was "would it be possible to have some highlights in my hair?" One of the woman responded with "No, it is impossible. You have black hair and it thicker than most people. We can try but you'll get orange hair and we won't be responsible if your hair falls out." To which i respond (in a polite tone), "Alright, glad to know. Thank you very much." As I was about to leave, they just said "yeah," as if they were reluctant to even accept my thanks. I don't want to play the race card but I am Asian and there aren't many Asians in that area so they didn't felt the need to provide service to an outsider such as myself. A week later, i was able to order a hair dye online from a hairstyle website, and was able to get the highlights i wanted in one shot, which I was nervous because i had never done it before, but turned out great. If those women went to school for their position and weren't able to achieve a simple task that I was able to perform without the educated needed for the procedure, then I'm sure their operation of business wouldn't last long. If I could I would give them 0 stars, but 1 star is the lowest I can give
