The staff was super nice, especially Dee Dee working the bar area. The hotel was renovated and the decor was modern and clean. My room was very comfortable. I dropped it down a star because the walls are super thin. I was awakened by a loud baby screaming at 5:30. The baby sounded like it was in my room. Other than that, it was a very comfortable stay. Parking lot was safe and well lit. It is very close to restaurants. We ate at the bar and the food was really good. read more

We were in the area for Rock the Country festival and had a great experience here. The front desk is friendly and welcoming and the room was clean and fresh. The bed was comfortable and the linens were soft. The housekeeper was friendly and they offered daily service. Each day we enjoyed the downstairs breakfast and then the pool. It was clean and tidy. Early in the day there is a bit of much appreciated shade. There is a bar downstairs with drink specials and a nice menu. This was very convenient and we were delighted with the service. During the day vendors set up in the lobby with unique and interesting designs from jewelry to utensils by local artisans. I did some Christmas shopping! I believe this was for the special event weekend. This was a delightful 3 night stay and the Holiday Inn provided us a great home base! read more

Made my blind reservation through a travel site. We checked in around 9 or 10 at night and went straight to our room. Beds were not super comfortable but the pillows were great. The room had a mini fridge which was much appreciated because we had brought leftover desserts with us from dinner. They had Bath and Body Works toiletries which was cool. From the outside the first impression isn't half bad. The staff made an attempt to be friendly at checkin but then it's degrading to be handed a sheet of paper you need to initial and sign. If I was such a loyal customer and you appreciate my business so much then why the motel like waiver written by a room full of idiot attorneys? When I inquired about my specific room request the staff were clueless. Further, they did nothing to recover from the loss of my requests for room location and type. The elevator was shaky. Scary shaky in that it felt as if it never quite settled at the floor and when it did it felt like a harsh drop. Never a welcome thought when you're stuck on the top floor. Inside the room I'll start by saying the beds are entirely too high off the ground. I'm fairly tall and had trouble with the bed height. The bedding and pillows were comfortable but never felt clean. The lack of cleanliness extended to the bathroom. Instantly I noticed stray hairs everywhere. The shower. The toilet. It was just disgusting. I put on my gloves and brought out the bleach and just cleaned the entire room myself. Always frustrating. Housekeeping seemed more preoccupied with either stealing or discarding my personal travel toiletry products than actually hitting their cleaning checklist. This was good NYC apothecary stuff that's not cheap. I was livid. The toiletries they did have were embarrassing. Two lotions were clearly used by previous guests. What's worse is I had to play plumber to the room's toilet that would never refill after a flush. So after each flush I had to put on my gloves, lift the bowl top and pull the pin to trigger refill. Could be worse! I spoke to one guest that had maintenance painting supplies and paint rollers and brushes left in their room. That guest claims the hotel staff said they weren't painting after they smelled an odor of fresh paint, then found the brushes. Seems as if the front desk has continuing issues with giving the guests the whole story and the truth. Quality of sleep was hampered by the wall mounted HVAC unit. Mine was loud, never stopped and I feel contributed to a sore throat. Worse yet, on night number two the smell of skunk spray came thru the vents. The next morning at breakfast I inquired with other guests if they had the same issue and over half advised they did. That's something the front desk staff and GM should be doing. Take 15 minutes out of the day at breakfast to poll each guest about their stay. The gym looked new and refreshed, but the WiFi entertainment throughout the hotel was abysmal. The signal quality, speed and latency were all suboptimal. Every guest I spoke with said to avoid the restaurant that shares the parking lot with the hotel. One guest went so far to say it was the worst burger they had ever had! All these compounding issues really put the nail in the coffin for ever returning to this blighted and neglected property. read more

Price gouging. 500.00 a night for parents week at local college. Bad enough they have to pay 30 grand a semester for tuition. Staff very friendly. Breakfast is awful. Powdered oatmeal and a few bananas. read more

Very unfortunate beginning to this stay. I called the hotel around 9:30 am to inquire about the earliest time I could check in. The woman on the phone advised that they were very busy and put me on hold to look into the situation. She came back and told me that I would not be able to check in until 12 pm at the earliest as none of the rooms were clean and they were very busy- a coworker was with me and she was told the earliest she could get in was 2 pm. Upon arrival I advised that I spoke with the front desk & the woman (who's name I should've remembered) told me she was the one I spoke to. She then proceeded to tell me in a rude manner that my room was not ready (I arrived at 12:30 pm) and that she gave it to someone who was staying longer than myself. Usually, I could have been ok with this but she spoke very rudely and was acting as if i was inconveniencing her staying at the hotel. I then began to state that it does not matter to me if they're busy or not but she promised me a room at 12 and now she gave it away. Mid sentence she put her hand up in a stop motion to tell me to stop speaking. I started to speak again and she cut me off. Astounded, I stated "Excuse me let me finish my sentence please." She barley agreed and rudely said "ok ok." Then, she finally found me a room, but not before asking me to stay with my coworker in two queens because "we were only there for a night." We advised yes, we're only here for a night, but we booked two separate king rooms as that is what and how we intended to stay. After finally getting my room key she told my co-worker she could possibly check in at 3 pm but needed to "keep calling" to see if a room was available as they were so busy. Once we finally got to my room to put our bags down the room was open and the cleaning supplies were still there. A couple minutes later a nice cleaning lady came in and was shocked to see us and did not understand why the front desk gave us the room as it was not done being cleaned! She apologized to us profusely- and I told her she was fine, she can't help that another miscommunication took place. The only saving grace of this place is John. As soon as we came back from a departure he could tell we were unsatisfied with the service. He asked why we were so unhappy and I explained. He was very apologetic that this unfortunate situation had taken place, and gave us complimentary drink tickets. The bartender was also very kind and gave us a great recommendation for dinner. In my opinion there aren't many choices of great hotels in Anderson, but if you find yourself there avoid this hotel if you want to be treated the same as someone spending five nights. read more

After having stayed at the La Quinta down the street this place was great! 6 of us from work were staying here for a week. We check in at this very nicely decorated lobby. Our rooms looked amazing, very cozy beds, granite counter tops, etc. 1 night we wanted to watch the Bears game down in the lobby. We asked the front desk lady if it was ok if we ordered pizza and ate it down there in this little room that had a big table and tv in it. We could! We ordered loads of pizza and had a great time there. There are free cookies as well! Woo Hooo! read more

The hotel is nice enough, the rooms are very nice size for a Holiday Inn, the bed was comfortable. The one negative we found, which we consider a major detraction, was the bathroom was dirty. There was hair in therather dirty bathtub when we checked in, the sink was not cleaned properly. The nighttables next to the bed were covered in grease and dirt and appeared as though they had not been properly cleaned in some time. Once in the room, we didn't want to take the time to move to another room, as we figured that would be no better, so we spent 15-20 minutes cleaning the room ourselves. Otherwise, the hotel is well situated, with lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. It is a shame the management doesn't get on their cleaning staff and verify the condition of the rooms regularly. read more

Came up for the eclipse when it was probably super busy and I used Priceline, so I guess I can't complain. (?) Room was very muggy/humid which made it really uncomfortable. Beds were actually plush and soft versus feeling rigid with the usual stiff sheets. Hotel has been nicely renovated and furnished in the lobby. read more

Yep! They did it again! Since my side of the family's reunion was so awesome at this hotel, we decided to host my wife's side of the family's reunion with this hotel too. It was no fluke to have such a perfect experience with the first reunion as proven by the same experience with the second one. Everything from start to finish was just excellent. All the elevators are broken so they suggest I come down for my food. Seriously? I m exhausted from traveling. Can I just get some food? The staff is friendly and there is a full bar and restaurant downstairs which is very convenient. Cleanliness is a MUST for me as a frequent traveler, and this hotel consistently delivers. Had a great long weekend stay here. The hotel is immaculate and the staff is amazingly friendly. Perfectly maintained swimming pool was great fun for the whole family. A little slow on housekeeping, but everything in life in Anderson is slow. Just what life should be. Proximity to local restaurants is great. Mexican at Papa's and Beer was awesome. Standard stuff, with some hits and misses. Staff were all friendly. No problem with the reservations. But the bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned -- found a used soap in the shower. Loud AC unit. Ridiculously high beds. The coffee was consistently bad and only lukewarm. And half the guests in the breakfast room were i'h n pajamas, some with slippers. They really need to put a stop to that. read more

He apologized over and over for what we had endured and it wasn't even his fault or employer. I won't even look for deals the next time I return Holiday Inn will have my business. read more
