My husband and I had a HORRIBLE experience at this hotel. First, we entered the room and I noticed the shower is not clean nor is it maintained. The shower was from old dirt and it needed to be bleached or just renewed. The toilet was not working. We called for someone but they never came before breakfast. During breakfast, my husband saw the manager and inquired about the toilet not working. The manager came upstairs, fixed the issue, them came back to us to tell us that he will take $50.00 off our bill. Next, the room phone was not working. Finally, the breakfast. There was nothing to eat. No fruits, no yogurt, no breads except biscuits. Even the water dispenser was not in working order.....WATER! First of all the PRICE is waaaay too high...ridiculous actually. We get to our room after a very long day of traveling and the bathroom room mirror light is doing a "strobe light show" absolutely crazy. We did let the front desk know and when we got back from dinner it settled down. I went to shower and GROSS...the shelf where I put my razor and wash cloth, was absolutely filthy, the shower curtain...you guessed it...filthy!!! Unbelievable . In addition, there was NO soap by the sink for washing hands, the microwave was gross and there were not enough towels for our ONE NIGHT stay. I am a loyal IHG memeber and have stayed at this location about 5 times for multple days in the last 3 years. They have gone consistently down hill each time. I don't really dwell on past mistakes so I will only address this stay. Check in is usually 3 PM. I have never staed at an IHG branded location where you could not check in early if rooms were available. I got there at 2:45 and was told that check in was at 4, she pointed to a sticker taped over the 3 PM. I explained I was on business and would take a different room type if I could just get in a room. She told me that they no longer check people in until all rooms are cleaned. When I finally got checked in I was told they were out of key sleeves so she would write my room number and password on a sticky note. I mean, it isn't like these things have a shelf life. Why would you not have 1 extra case. This is a leadership issue. I tried to turn on the TV and it said not connection, check cable. I looked behind the TV and the cable was disconnected, it was on a mount that move so I pulled it away from the wall thinking I would just screw it in. The connection was ripped out of the back, I tried to use a streaming service as I had an HDMI cord but the internet was so slow that it wouldn't run. I try to stay loyal to a brand as I travel so much but I will not be back to this location. read more

I had a horrible experience. We waited until after 5:00 PM before we were allowed to enter our room -- while it was still being cleaned! There was mold on the bathroom door, the safety bar was broken, and the door lock was broken. The pool was nasty. We couldn't swim or take showers in the morning because they had NO CLEAN TOWELS! There was a sign next to the elevator saying "Limit 4 people." WHY!?!? Half of the items were missing from the continental breakfast, including butter/margarine! I've never had such an awful experience in my life. I would rate -0- stars if that was an option! When we checked in and got to our room the room had not been cleaned. There was urine in the toilet, the sheets were rumpled and looked like no one made the bed. We told the clerk and he gave us another room in the 3rd floor. Tile in the foyer was broken and stepped down from the rest of the tile. The sheets didn't fit the bed and the corners kept popping off. A worker unlocked our door and tried to walk in while my wife and I were in bed. So we placed a table in front of the door. The door latch was broken. The ac unit fan started squeaking in the middle of the night. I went down the next morning and only decaf coffee was available. After being on the road for many hours, we expected a quick check in like we usually get at Holiday Inn Express. This was not the case. Instead we waited 10 minutes for the front desk clerk to come and check us in. This was after we had called the hotel contact line and also had to peek behind the desk on a hide and seek mission for this man. We'd made a reservation multiple days prior. We were not greeted, in fact he seemed almost pained to even have to talk to us. It was midnight and the breakfast dining area was filled with people hooting and hollering. Almost competing for who could be the loudest. They were yelling at me that they could see the bag of chicken I was carrying. This instilled fear within me for the rest of the night. When we finally got to our room, all the lights were on. We thought this was strange, but being so tired we decided to go to sleep. When I woke up the next morning to take a shower, upon my own investigation it was revealed to me that the shower actually was non-functioning. Ridiculous! This caused me to more closely inspect the room as a whole. There were blood stains on the bed's blankets. Which thankfully I pushed aside and brought my own blanket so I hope I didn't catch anything! Disgusting nonetheless and makes the laziness of this business VERY apparent. When we went downstairs to check out breakfast, almost everything was out of service. This includes the juice machine, the pancake machine, and the elevator. In addition to this, an elderly man was impacted by the elevator not working because he had to go up many flights of stairs and carry medical equipment. This is completely unacceptable and disappointing. When we voiced our complaints to the management, he did not care one bit! In fact, he tried to put the blame on us and say we should've said something last night. As if CUSTOMERS who are literally exhausted from traveling should also do the hotel management's job of checking and making sure the room is prepared, clean, and at minimum FUNCTIONING. We mentioned that we had made these reservations days prior. He said that you get whatever room they have when you show up. So tell me, what is the point of reservations if you all are just going to give us non working rooms and give whatever room we reserved to anyone who walks in. He actually pulled out a paper that literally said our room 'NEEDS TO BE OUT OF SERVICE.' I mean, what on Earth? So y'all decided to put people in that room and charge them for it anyways despite not doing your jobs. Not to mention there was a party going on until 4 am and many people complained about how they couldn't sleep. Nobody who works there seemed to care, or have any sense of purpose. It has made us question our loyalty to the Holiday Inn Express, something we have upheld for 15+ years. So I came to Dothan al from atlanta Georgia when I checked in the front desk manager Elizabeth was very nice but when goin inside the room there were stains on the sheets glob of hair on the floor stains all on the carpet end the tv didn't work. Friendly manager at check in. Room was about what I expected, some stains in the carpet and the shower had a steady drip. No big deal. Except the internet was a problem and I was relying on internet to finish up some work. It was extremely slow wifi, like it took at least a minute to just load a simple page. I asked the front desk about the internet and she said just give it another hour or so and it might be better (ok not really helpful). An hour later I ask again about the slow wifi to the point I can't even use my phone and she said yeah a lot of people have been complaining about it. Here's a number you can call for support. I asked what the hotel was doing to fix this since it seems to be a building wide issue and she said oh we're providing guests with this customer service number to troubleshoot. I am in town for a funeral stayed here three nights husband and grandchildren came with me. No house keeping service no days. Had to go pick up towels from the front desk. You would think he hat was the worst. I left my IPAD THERE. Find my phone WORKS. I didn't miss IPAD until today. Well I check find my iPad and it said it was at the hotel. So I went to the hotel and they said no one turned it in. So I said maybe it is still in the hotel. The clerk said no one turned it in. I told him maybe it is still in room and no one found it, he was like three people have stayed on the room since you left. I was firm in I would like to look fo my on edification. He begrudgingly said ok. The find you device app was registering it was there 450 ft away. When I got to the room it was 350 ft away. I left the room and walk down the hallway it said 600 feet away. I turned around and it said 250 ft away then 150 ft away and I stoped at the maintenance closet and it said 50 ft away. I knew then it was there. I went down stairs and informed the clerk whom knew it was there. He said I will go to check it out. Followed him he said you wait here I am gonna get with the maintenance man and you stay here. I stayed there but I put the alarm on so it would ring when they got there. I push it continuously. It was still ringing when he brought it down stairs. He said that's amazing . Dummies most items have a find me application. Stop stealing people ish. And don't buy stolen ish. They have ish to put in-purses, on wallets on watches that will identify where is. Remind me of a couple years ago I lost a couple of electronic cords. Went back to hotel that evening and the clerk had the same response. We spent 4 days here during the Dixie Boys Baseball tournament. The staff was exceptional!! Everyone from the cleaning crew to management was so nice even with 14/15 year old boys running wild. The rooms were clean, beds were really comfortable and breakfast had plenty of options. Rooms were well stocked with what you needed. Love the shampoo/conditioner. Good location!!! Can here for a getaway and for the price it was simply okay. No bells and whistles. Moderately clean with a comfortable bed and free WiFi. For $100+ a night after taxes that's pretty average. The snack area is subpar with very limited options. I loved the fact the ice machine works and the room had a refrigerator and microwave. The shower was very large and spacious. If I would choose to stay here again is up in the air. I honestly don't know. In comparison to the hotels in the area it's one of the best. In our second weekend in a row in Dothan, the HIE was part of a Priceline deal, so we jumped on board. Being from Dothan, but not having lived here in 13+ years, this hotel is pretty new in my opinion. The lobby and common areas seem to reflect that. But the rooms seemed a little older. Everything seemed cleaned, just not that new feeling I expected. Someone did throw the door open at some point and left a hole where the doorstop should be. But other than that no real damages. The breakfast was better than most hotels of this star grade and better than the one we stayed in the week before. But that was probably the only part that was superior. Nothing particularly bad. When we arrived to check in, the front desk clerk was more than helpful due to the fact that we had cancelled our previous reservation for this hotel thinking that we wanted to stay at the Hampton Inn as we had done before on a previous visit to Dothan. Stayed here Dec 2014 after Christmas. We generally always stay at Hampton Inn on our trips. Three kids, two adults. We get the suite. During this stay the desk staff was friendly and check in was great. In the morning, we went for the breakfast at about 8:50. Wow! They were about to close up shop! The lady was very nice making sure folks got what they needed though. I thought he breakfast was actually better than the fare we get at Hampton. Kudos! Now, why three stars? The room. This particular hotel must be a few years older. The shower was stained and there were a few hairs left over from another guest! Yuck! A little mold action, but not too bad. I found the pillows and bed too hard. Linens and towels seemed worn. Although it was okay... Everything seemed "tired"... I think this place is due for a facelift before I will return. read more

Do NOT stay here unless you like pink mold in your bathroom, a musty smell, do-it-yourself accomodations, and things needing repair. We normally stay at Hampton Inn but it and the Hilton were both booked up and this Holiday Inn Express had availability. Now I know why. The room was sweltering hot when we arrived since the a/c unit wasn't turned on, despite our reservation. There was hair in the shower drain, pink mold in several places, a hole in the refrigerator shelf, brown stuff smeared on two bathroom walls, and no bedding available for the pullout even though we specifically stated we would use it and needed it set up when I made our reservation hours earlier and directly with this Dothan AL location via phone. To top things off, the toilet had some paper fragments sitting in it and when I flushed, it overflowed. There was no maintenance available and we were told there's only one person to service the entire, sold out hotel after 4:00pm!! Luckily someone didn't show for their reservation and changed rooms at 11pm to another sweltering room with a dirty bathroom. A manager never arrived the following morning and we were only given $35 off!! I filed a corporate complaint and had to call back only to find out this Dothan location told corporate they apologized to me via email but I NEVER received any email!!! One month later Corporate promised reimbursement. Avoid this location if at all possible since their local management, cleaning, and maintenance practices lack quality. read more

My stay at this HI express was for business and was a very nice property. Service was friendly, and property was very clean. Room was clean. Didn't have HBO... Just standard cable. Seriously the worst hospitality/customer service experience of my life. I would sleep on a bench in a war torn country rather than stay here. I check in and go to my room to find dried piss under the toilet seat. Seriously? Then after 3 days of my room going uncleaned, I complained to the service desk to only be met with a super hostile and combative representative. She basically told me it's not her problem and gave me the cold shoulder. I spoke to her manager who basically defended her awful actions and brushed it off. I am usually a fan of Holiday Inn Expresses but this location is terrible. The hotel is a few years old so it looks really nice and clean but the front desk staff was not very helpful. From the first day I was there I had problems with my microwave so I let the front desk know twice during the week and it was never fixed. Each time I brought it up it seemed like it was unimportant to them. Most hotels will go out of the way to make sure your stay is comfortable and stress free, not this hotel, it's almost as if you are bothering them if you need something. Excellent customer service! We stayed 5 days due to hurricane Irma and we were very impressed with the hotel. Very clean staff was so nice. Home baked cookies at the Front Desk every day. The beds and pillows were so soft and the hotel had an excellent breakfast in the mornings. The staff works very hard. And what was really nice of the hotel was one afternoon they had food in lobby for everyone and desserts also. We will defiantly stay here again!! read more

The room was clean and comfortable. The shower could have had a bit more pressure. The breakfast was awful. Rock hard English muffins, flies circling around the food, two sorry bananas were all that was available for fruit. On top of all of that the fire alarms malfunctioned at 800 am and the weren't fixed until 845. We came here for a ball tournament this past weekend. Let's just say right away we were already told they didn't have something and that was the hot tub. I can see the pool being closed until April because of it being cooler but that's what a hot tub is for. This isn't the reason for the two stars though, just a little disappointed with two young ones with you. They have a nice little putt putt area that was covered with pine straw for what seemed to be weeks worth and 1 ball with multiple putters, asked for more balls and were told we were out of luck. Disappointed kids again and not just mine this time; there were other ball tournament kids their as well. We all took showers the first day and that was all fine besides the room smelling of straight bleach (which isn't the worst thing being that I knew it was sterilized) but still left a chemical rash on my youngest hiney that burned for a day but the second round of showers had to be put on hold because we called for towels and were told...YOU GUESSED IT...they didn't have any for us. There was a lady in the lobby that let all the kids play a pretty cool game that they were loving and enjoying for prizes and even random people stopped by to view the activity and we were rudely told to be quiet by the male desk clerk because "he couldn't hear" not because we were disturbing guest but because he was mad to be at work and hear others enjoying themselves! I gave an additional star instead of one because the bar/breakfast staff were AMAZING! They give this place a decent image after everyone else ruins it on the way to breakfast or on the way down for some drinks! NONE of the desk clerk's looked happy the whole weekend! The baseball facility is ONE OF THE BEST I'VE SEEN IN THE SOUTHEAST!! With that being said...there are going to be a TON more tournaments held here in the future and I hope someone gets a hold of that place real quick to make the ball parents want to come back and stay there. Horrible management and staff. NASTY place. Told her about our God awful stay at another location here recently and the corporate office was trying to make it right by giving us points on this IHG program. Well we come back from our business trip to no AC. 100 outside and 97 in the house. Called the local Holiday inn to see if they would honor our horrible night and trying to make up for it. We had a AC guy coming the next morning we just needed help that night for me my husband and our 8 year old. The assistant manager quote " So let me get this straight, you want us to help you out for something our Atlanta location did to yall? No that's not going to happen sorry" I will never do business with another Holiday Inn Express again. Customer service was horrible from all angles. Atleast she could have done was call corporate herself and see how them as a Company can make things right. But nope you get bad customers service and in some places like the one we stayed at in Atlanta you get bloody, hairy nasty sheet. I respect businesses that not only take pride in there establishment but do right by there customers and community. Hotel is clean, stay here about 4 to 5 times a year for business. Pool is fine with separate shower head to wash off, two internet computers in case ya leave the laptop or tablet or phone at home. Gym is plenty fine and basic with tv. Parking is insanely plentiful, about 400 spots AT LEAST since its next door to the Dothan "convention center". Only three negatives are when I check in its always on Sundays, and they ALWAYS run out of towels from Saturday night checkouts, and this has happened EVERY time, Monday to thursday is always normal. Negative #2 is low low low shower pressure on the third floor on the western end, but eastern side is a little better, cant say about first and second floors as I dont stay on lower floors. Third (now this may be company wide so not sure) is cant get access to ANY utensils, bowls, napkins, or plates as they have EVERYTHING under lock down...but in all fairness when I ask the front desk if I can get something, they retrieve it with no fuss or attitude. Overall, good hotel and CLEAN and quiet as well. Never had a issue once with noise or rude staff. Other only thing to mention is not really next to any major restaurants or retail, is at the NE side of town which is heavy commercial/ light industrial/transportation and distribution area. Most restaurants and retail are about 2 to 3 miles west on the circle. Never a problem with the fridge, tv, bedding, or restroom facilities. read more
