I visited this Holiday Inn Express for four days for a family reunion. In my second day, while I was out, a staff member stole my expensive ($745) prescription sunglasses out of my suitcase. This occurred after I informed the manager- Akash that my carpet was filthy since they cause my white socks to turn black when I walked on them. Akash insisted on having my carpets cleaned, although I told him he could have his staff clean the carpets after I checked out. Akash had 2-4 employees in my room to clean the carpet and the room, and they may have left the door open to allow the carpet to dry. Upon my return, my prescription glasses were missing. I asked Akash to replace them. He only made excuses and refused to reimburse me for my glasses. I will never stay at this property again. read more

I was skeptical of coming here but it was the closest to my weekend destination. It's a really nice looking hotel. I loved the decor in the first floor rooms. It's open and the high ceilings really were a vibe. However, I thought it would've been more cleaner. The bathroom floor wasn't clean. I wore shower shoes because I didn't feel comfortable putting my bare feet on the floor. The walls were thin! I was up until 2am one night because my neighbor was blasting his tv and I called the front desk..they said they couldn't get the guy to answer the phone or the door. I was told I would receive points for the compliant but I never did. Breakfast was breakfast...eggs and some kind of meat every morning. They have a lot of options, typical hotel breakfast. The front desk staff was nice. I wasn't a fan of the GM due to him changing the quoted price for my family reunion group rate but it's ok. Overall, I would stay here again next time I'm town visiting. But I definitely don't think it was worth the money we paid. You really pay for the name. read more

While getting our food, someone (an employee) in the kitchen area had their phone on speaker both parties were talking about what they had done the night before I assure I did not care to hear over breakfast or any other time how many time they got ?????? the night before. This stay was a complete nightmare and 100% different than a previous stay. First off the light in the bathroom over the sink didn't work. I called down to report it and the lady said they ordered a part and won't be able to fix it until it comes in. So why did you give me a broken room? Second, I asked how to turn the blinking light off on the phone and she had no idea. We could not get it to stop blinking. I paid $10 extra per night for a 3rd person and had to go down and get an extra towel each day. They only left 2. The last day of our stay, they didn't come clean our room or replace any towels. I had to go down and get them. I asked if they clean the rooms each day and the guy at the front desk said he didn't know...really???? The beds were slanted to the head and very uncomfortable. All night last night we smelled weed. Someone was smoking it in their room as you could smell it in the halls. I reported this to the front desk and they said it was above their pay grade to deal with. What a useless bunch of humans! I paid for this hotel because the one next door was cheaper but also persisted with its own issues. Holiday Inn had a better reputation but not this time. This will be one of those reviews that if you could leave less than one star you would happily do so. From front desk personnel to ownership, I was instructed to call and made several attempts to including finally making contact only to be told I'd get a call back the next day which of course has never happened. If you hire garbage to work your front desk, people are going to act like garbage. Regardless of this being a franchisee, this year fact that it has Holiday Inn, one of the most recognizable brands and logos in the hospitality industry attached is nothing less than shameful. Then again, Holiday Inn and their lackadaisical approach to customer service is the glaring problem with its hotels lack of service. So to a Holiday Inn express in Laurel Mississippi, if you don't care about your customers and your property then your customers aren't going to care about it either. I would frankly stay at a Motel 6 before pulling into the parking lot of the Holiday Inn again. Next time a customer calls to make you aware of a situation? My wife and I just stayed here. The hotel itself was clean. They serve a decent quick breakfast. It is not Cracker Barrel or anything like that but it was sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs and such. The room was clean when we arrived and the front desk was quick to get us in the room. We stayed from Thursday they Sunday. That's 3 nights. Our room was not touch once after we arrived. No trash dump, no bed making, no fresh towels... nothing. On Saturday night my wife called the front desk to ask for more towels and she was requested to go get them from the front desk. I like Holiday Inn Express this one was not at par for service. I would give them a chance to redeem themselves. It was just strange for this to occur. The positive with this place is it is really close to the parts of Laurel people want to see. Probably within a mile and a half. Not good walking areas to town but easily drivable. read more

I've always enjoyed the stay here but they can be a lil pricey especially depending on when you go. Book early and inquire about some discounts. Other than that; the staff is usually very helpful and friendly. The rooms are nice. I had a room one time with a jacuzzi tub. I'll definitely visit again. This hotel should be a lot nicer for the price that the rooms cost. Everything was ok except the bathroom. The shower had mold along the edges of the floor( I wished I had gotten a picture). I felt like going to Walmart and getting cleaner with bleach and scrubbing it myself, but as a guest I shouldn't have to do that. We wore our beach shoes in the shower. I have never felt the need to do that in a hotel before. The bathroom floor wasn't clean looking either, just a suggest for HIE to use vinyl plank flooring in the bathroom, much easier to keep clean than tile. The soap dish was chipped on the corners ( see attached photo), never had that happen before. It shouldn't be that hard to replace a soap dish. At night, I noticed the door to our room had a huge gap around it. You could see the light from the hallway coming in ( see attached photo). This has also never happened at other hotels we have stayed at. We have always liked Holiday Inn Express, but we have now experienced 2 bad ones within 2 days in Mississippi. We stayed there 8-8-14. I really expected a newer facility however you can see the age in this hotel. The bathtub need a good scrub and the grout was molded. The beds were very comfortable and linens good quality Quick trip no problem would not have stayed there more than over night Breakfast was good normal Holiday Inn stuff. The hotel was clean in general and the a/c worked. It was a little overpriced for the area for sure. The walls are extremely thin. We literally could hear the elevator chime in our room when we turned the tv off. We could easily hear anyone in the hallway but the breakfast was pretty good. read more

Hotel staff are friendly. Check in was quick and easy. Rooms were clean housekeeping cleaned room each day I stayed 3 nights... kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Bathroom was clean and was stock daily. Definitely will be staying again on my next trip here. I didn't get a chance to try breakfast because the beds actually made me sleep in.
