UNPROFESSIONAL is the word of the day. To start off I stay at Holiday Inn Express locations all over the South, due to traveling for work. I am a loyal IHG member and have been for quite some time. Yesterday evening I arrived at the location in Magee, MS at approximately 21:30. I was absolutely exhausted from a long day of work only to greeted at the front desk by "Mary". I stated to Mary that I had a small trailer and there were no available spots in the parking lot, so I parked along the curb, and that I was well out of the way for other patrons. She immediately rushed around the counter and stated, "I will show you where to park!". After walking outside, she made several comments about my choice of a parking spot then asked if I had a reservation and if not, I should go to the Best Western across the street. Mind you I drive a pick-up truck and was pulling a ten-foot trailer, not an 18-wheeler!!!! I told Mary I would like to stay at this location due to have making a reservation the day prior, she stated "well you are going to have to park elsewhere". I then loaded my luggage back into my truck parked across the street at Bojangles. After returning to the front desk, I asked Mary if I could please check in. She was still not having it; she began to get very verbally upset and told me I was going to be arrested for parking next to the curb. Just to be noted that it was not posted by any signage nor, was it marked as a fire lane. After listening to her rant and rave I became very confused about the situation, I mentioned to Mary that I was a police officer for eleven years (truthful statement) and suggested that she became more familiar with the legal statutes and codes in her area before she threatens to have her customers arrested for parking in an unrestricted area. Mary did not like this and raised her voice and stated "Then you try it!!!! Try it!!!!" She then handed me my room key and told me to have a good night in a very sarcastic manner. Not once was I ever agitated nor argumentative and stated to her multiple time that I did not want to argue with her. Fast forward to breakfast this morning, I was greeted by a couple who witnessed the incident, and they expressed how insane and uncalled for it was. I was so thankful I was not the only one who witnessed the outrageous and unprofessional actions of Mary. I never write reviews and understand this is quite wordy but pay attention to who is behind the desk when you check in and if it is Mary, you are better off sleeping in your car at a gas station then dealing with her. I got to the hotel and everything appeared fine, there's no place on the property to park a moving truck or anything overside but i lucked out and found a spot out on the road in front. The deal breaker for me was the prehistoric sized water bugs found in my room. We are talking 4 stomps and it's still moving sized bugs.... bugs that would survive a nuclear blast?! Check my photos you can see for yourself lol! I trapped one in a glass and showed the front desk, they said other than changing rooms there's really nothing they can do. Just search your room, those things might just decide to keep you company in the middle of the night! read more

I never leave a review but after this stay I feel I should go back and praise other hotels I've stayed in and apologize for taking them for granted. My room at this hotel was one of the dirtiest I have ever stayed in. The tile floors were black, the carpet was stained and littered with dead bugs, food crumbs, and beer bottle lids. The bathroom counter and sink was covered in hairs, toothpaste, and a sticky substance. The light switch cover and the wardrobe handle had a crusty substance all over them. With today's climate the state of this room was shocking. Not only were extra measures not taken to sanitize the room, the basic steps for a good cleaning had apparently been skipped. It felt as if only the bedding and towels had been changed. I'm leaving 2 stars because the lady at the front desk was super apologetic and gave us some sanitizer wipes but she couldn't move us to another room because the hotel was completely booked. This hotel was three stars until breakfast. The bed was fine. The water was hot. The towels were clean. The front desk staff was extremely accommodating. The internet was free. The parking was plentiful. There's an indoor pool. A workout room. A business center. Sure, it's no ritz Carlton. But it's not supposed to be. It's a nice spot to get some sleep when you need 8 hours total. For about $100, that's good for me. But wow, the employee overseeing the breakfast might have been the most rude person I've encountered in years. She rudely talked to my 5 and 3 year olds, and walked around appearing to talk to herself, but actually that was her orange Bluetooth in her ear to which she was communicating. Two stars. read more

Nice hotel located just minutes from downtown and local restaurants. In need of some updates, rooms are spacious and clean. Showers are high and would not be able to be adjusted by someone short. Staff very friendly and very professional. read more

This was the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. First room smelled like vomit and was wet on the floor where it smelled the worst. There were also multiple things under the bed, so we moved rooms and immediately smelled pee in the second room bathroom and there was a hanger hanging above the window. It was also a terrible room, but better than the vomit smell so we dealt with it. We then found a used washcloth hanging from the shower the next morning while I was in the shower. This place needs an entirely new cleaning crew and better management! read more

Very nice room, spacious, and the front desk lady was simply amazing...i forgot to get her name...she was an older lady...but she knows all about customer service. She was very accommodating!! We originally planned on stopping in Hattiesburg, however we checked 6 hotels and they were ALL completely booked. Managed to find this gem a little further down the road. This was just an over night stay, to get from point A to point B. My family and I were happy to say the least! Everything smelled clean, the room was clean, neat, they provided Bath and Body Works Shampoo, Conditioner, and lotion. The shower had good water pressure & was hot. There is a mini refrigerator and a microwave The bed was comfortable & 2 selections of pillows firm or not firm. The best part of the entire stay was the breakfast!!! It was the best complementary breakfast we have ever had. They had 3 different omelets to choose from. Sausage links, & turkey sausage. Your typical bagels, cereal, milk, juices, biscuits, oatmeal. They also had Udis GF blueberry muffins and Udis GF bagels. My children enjoyed the push button pancake maker & it flipping out at the end. Pleasantly surprised. My ONLY gripe... is that the lock to the stair way from the outside was busted. You could get in with out the use of a card key at all. We would stay here again. read more
