While on a long road trip, I planned to stop for the night in Texarkana, AR; I made better time than I thought, so I decided to drive for a bit longer. I stopped while in Texarkana to use a go-to app for searching out hotels - Priceline. Not many options listed for Marshall and Holiday Inn Express & Suites seemed like the best option based on available information. I used the direction provided by Priceline. It was getting later in the evening, and unfortunately, Priceline directions landed me in a residential neighborhood, not even close to the destination. The hotel was about 15 minutes from where Priceline had directed me to go. The room above mine had some people who walked with very heavy feet, so I heard every step made throughout the night and the next morning. Seems as if sound deadening material was left out of the construction planning for this hotel. Staff was friendly, and the free breakfast was decent. It's better than some and not as good as some other hotels. The parking lot in front of the hotel was well lit, and even though the hotel was at the every end of the street, I had no concerns about my vehicle. read more

My stay here was great! the room was clean and fresh. Shortly after check-out, I received a phone call from the hotel stating that I had left my iPad and airpods in the room. I was too far to turn around so they offered to ship my belongings back to me. I was super impressed with their honesty and service. The outside is good but what does the outside do for ya lol 3 stars for a couple reasons. Easy check in and out and the breakfast was good! Minus two stars for the cleanliness of the room, the top two towels looked like they had just been used. Hair in the shower, and sticky stains and cup stains on the countertops in the room. Horrible housekeeping, I messed up by not bringing my own Lysol wipes but lesson learned for next time. If your in need for a quick place, I'd go here due to the surrounding hotels were lesser quality BUT know it's not super clean. read more

Overall, pretty good, not bad at all. just the minor end of things, a bit of mildew in the corner of the shower tub, and the bathroom either isn't equiped with a vent fan or it's busted so the shower was steamy and... "the other problem." It's otherwise a decent place we'd come back to visiting friends in town. read more

3.5 Stars but I guess I'll round up. This place is situated at the very end of a dead end road. Don't turn too early as there are tons of potholes in the trucker lot next door! Needed a place to stay while driving through. Eduardo helped me have a smooth check in. Little weird he put me on the first floor (my IHG acct says high floor preference) cause the hotel seemed predominately empty. Oh well. The room had a nicely padded carpet but had a large tile entry way and bathroom. I don't mind tile; but there was a large-ish gap between the entry door and main hallway. When the few people in the hotel did pass by, it got a little noisy. Bed wasn't mind blowing or anything. Wasn't the softest but wasn't too firm either. Pillows are labeled Soft and Firm. The fridges in the room are on the larger end, and Keurigs are used for in room coffee. Breakfast here is the best amenity, as they have Chobani non-fat yogurt, whole wheat English muffins, and egg white veggie omelets. Even lemon juice packets for water! Well I just came in for a quick overnight in Marshall . Well this is a nice gem. Clean great staff, comfortable, quiet. One star loss location is not easy to get to . But this is an excellent property to stay . Keep it up. I'll be back. read more

First off let me just say, the hotel itself is not to blame (I don't think) for what we experienced...but as this has never happened to me in my life as a frequent traveler...and as it really made me concerned for our safety and security, I have to leave this review. We arrived this evening after a very long day of driving. When we arrived at this dead end of a frontage road/right next to a shady a$$ gas station hotel, we walked in and found the front desk manager clearing out a room that had to have had 15 people in it...possibly more. I don't know if they were all just trying to sleep in there or if it was just a party...no idea, but given that was our first impression- it just sort of made us raise our eyebrows. How she knew all of those ppl were crammed in there is anybody's guess...but it was a bit of a clown car situation FOR SURE. Kudos to her for handling herself so professionally (she gets five stars). But honestly it already made me feel like there was something wrong here. It was complete pandemonium downstairs. If that would've been our only odd experience at this hotel , I wouldn't have even left this review, but no...we get up to our floor and there, lying in the hall way next to our room, was a man passed out asleep. At first, I thought it was bulk trash or someone left their clothes out or something...but then he moved, saw us, and claimed he had lost his key. (So why not go down and get a new one?) anyway he kept chatting at my kids as we we're trying to get in our room...he's still laying on the floor...and it was really unnerving, creepy if not a little comical...because what the HELL was happening at this hotel??? First 15 ppl crammed into one room and now this - an apparent squatter right in front of our room. So I called down to the front desk and told the poor lady about him and she didn't even seem surprised - she gave an audible frustrated "ugh" (not towards me but the situation) and followed up with -thank you so much for letting me know. Holiday Inn express should absolutely 100% give her a raise and should probably seriously consider posting security at this hotel....because DAMN. We're staying here out of desperation...if we weren't so tired, we would have demanded a refund and hauled ourselves a little further down the road. I can honestly say I won't be staying in Marshall, TX ever again after this experience. read more

The outside of the hotel needs a good cleaning as green mold is on the stucco. The second floor hallway smells. The elevator is slow and not for claustrophobic people. Some staff was very nice some not so much. The room did not smell and seemed to be clean. Understand this is a small town but need to up the standards a little read more

Coby working the front desk was kind, funny and extremely accommodating! After traveling all day it was so nice to be greeted by such a cheerful smile at 11:45 at night. As he was checking us in, he was multitasking by answering phone calls from hotel guess and greeting several people walking in need of rooms. Coby was calm and cool and did a fantastic job. I have stayed at this location 2 or 3 times now with my two kids and have not had any issues. I will say that my only complaint was getting to the hotel from the access road. My GPS didn't know how to tell me to get there, LOL. After my first stay I got it mastered and it's not an issue now. This hotel is always clean, and my rooms have never had any funky smells. (always a plus.) I opt out of the free breakfast bc I drive to Jefferson and eat breakfast at the fabulous Bayou Bakery. I highly recommend that place. They have an amazing breakfast AND lunch menu. read more

I am extremely satisfied with the hotel. The room was very nice, clean, and well organized. The wifi worked very good in my hotel. The staff was nice and helpful. Continental breakfast is the usual as any other hotel (maybe a bit better). I definitely recommend this hotel. FYI I did not see the road that takes you to the hotel. Instead I got on the I20, so make sure to look out for the street specially at night read more

Looks pretty new and it shows. It's definitely in a good location of your driving across the US. The rooms are nice and modern. The parking lot is large enough to accommodate my large truck. It's very clean too. The single king size bed was a little pricy at $139 but I'd rather stay there than at the seedy motel next door. Be warned though, the walls here are paper thin as I could hear the guest next door snoring. read more

Not sure why this IHG hotel has 4 stars. The room did not look clean, sheets on one bed looked like they might not be fresh, carpet looks dirty and the chair at the desk looked like someone had spilled food on the seat. Paid $103 for a $50 room and considering we are Platinum IHG members this was a disappointment. read more

Holiday Inn Express Inns are my favorite to stay in during our trips. This one by far is my favorite. Great room, clean and roomy. Quiet night sleep. Great breakfast consisting of cheesy omelet, turkey sausage(yay, not pork), biscuits and other continental breakfast items. The staff was friendly. Hotel seemed very new. The only issue I had was trying to find the hotel itself. No sign directing to hotel. Next trip we will certainly be staying here! read more
