Upon arrival front person was extremely nice but have difficulties with printer. Not a problem to wait. I was there for work and was working the next day 16h . I usually stay at Holiday Inns because breakfast usually starts atv6am and you get a hot breakfast. Well it started at 630 am ok not that big of a deal but both days I went to get breakfast NO hot breakfast. I said something to another front desk lady and she was likeboh she didn't show. Upon entering I took photos. They had left a wet wash cloth overhead the shower head. There was some kind of white spots all over the ironing board. The ac use didn't work but the wall unit was connect to the floor unit which worked. The flap the the unit on the ground was broken off. It was good open room through. There was some red stuff at the bottom of the trash can which looked like staining. We went to the pool was was inside but the room was warm but oh my gosh the water was so cold i couldn't do it. While I took my 2 kids 10 and under to the pool there were 3 what seemed to be 16+ year old kids screaming and kicking the water so hard it was making waves. The adult with them wasn't considerate and didn't make Them stop which was super annoying but no fault of the pools. It's use at your own risk. It also had a small gym and was across the street from a sushi place. There's no vending machines but they have ice machines. At night it was so bright outside and it didn't look like there was a pull down blind. But after searching and finagling I finally managed to find the blind and pull it down. This place was good for the small town it's located in but could use some tlc. The woman at night wasn't very friendly however the morning one was. I forgot my toothbrush and tooth paste and my daughter forgot her comb and they had those all free of charge to give which was awesome. The food during the morning was pretty good for the variety and the place also was pretty quiet. Overall I'd probably stay elsewhere if I could however we were booked this room through work and didn't choose. But if In a pinch it's a good overnight stay. read more

Pros: - SUPER friendly and accommodating staff - SUPER welcoming to Premium Elite (not 100% sure if it's Premium or Premier or Platinum Lol) members. I got 500 check in points, 250 points for eating at a restaurant they recommended AND a prize I got to pull out of a bucket!! It was a Milky Way. I felt like a kid on Halloween again. - Offered non dairy creamer- perfect for people who are living a plant based lifestyle - excellent parking lot - excellent location on the edge of town away from the traffic noise - the beds are amazing with top notch bedding (I literally have a fabric phobia that's been diagnosed and treated by a therapist so I know my bedding and this is quality) - my room had a pretty view of Dayton Mountain - ample storage space - super cool touch lamp with 3 different light brightnesses - clean - big bathroom with lots of hot water - huge window with a couple of different shade options - gigantic room. One day I was stressed out, so I threw on my headphones and danced around for 20 minutes. There was plenty of space! Cons: - this is very, very common in the southeast but the AC stinks like mildew. In fact several areas of the hotel smell like that. I lived in East Tennessee for 14 years so I am well aware that this is not uncommon and the hotel is probably hard pressed to do anything about it, but it is still unpleasant - the coffee has a weird sour flavor - the carpet is straight up sticky. Again, I know that's a common problem in hotels, but it's unpleasant. It's not dirty!! My bare feet DO NOT get dirty walking on it, it just feels sticky - the bathtub is stained and the anti-slip thing is coming up. I'm a bath taker so that was unappealing. I have a foot injury that can't get wet, so I did have to take several baths in the tub. It's definitely not mold. I think it's staining from hard water - the buttons on my room's phone didn't work to connect to the front desk (not a huge deal but for someone with mobility issues, having to go to the front desk would be annoying) Honestly I could (and do) overlook most of the cons but the mildew smell is really icky. If the hotel didn't do so many other things right, I would rate it a 2 stars based on the smell. But they do a fantastic job in so many other ways! Truly they do. I've stayed here every time I visit family in the area because it's such a comfortable hotel (when my husband and I were dating we also had weekend trysts here lol). Stayed at this place for the first time this past June. The place was packed, however sleeping, was very peaceful. The place was not noisy as I have unfortunately started expecting at most motels. Location is fine, as Dayton is small. My friends/family are on the other side of town and the location was not out of the way. Reception - very kind and friendly. Namely Isabel who we had the pleasure of talking with a couple of times this stay. Breakfast was a little more/better than standard "free" breakfast at other places. The cinnamon rolls were really good. Rooms were standard, clean and roomy enough. One "dislike" - bathroom was not bright enough nor was the room. read more

I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Dayton TN on 8/20/2017. I think I was bitten by bed bugs. I stayed in room 307. When I woke up the next morning there were insect bites on my arm. The bites were red, with a darker red small center area. I had 7 or 8 of these spots on my arm. When I got back to my home I called the Rhea County health department. The man I spoke to at the health department actually called me back. He had visited the Holiday Inn, and he told me that they basically admitted that they had a bed bug problem. I had a similar experience at another Holiday Inn Express (near Covington VA) about six year ago. I am now wondering if this is a pervasive problem across Holiday Inn. read more

We had a very good experience here, on par with expectations for the hotel brand and price. We found it to be very clean, and the front desk staff very pleasant. The workout room was sparse, but again, met expectations for the price. The breakfast in the morning was okay, but everyone in the family managed to find something. The hotel staff at this hotel was very friendly and receptive, with one exeception. I know from all my travels that it only takes one person to maybe ruin the entire experience at a place of business and this very much could be the case, as it might have been for me if I seldom visited hotels. My only issue with this hotel is that breakfast hours (as they put it) are from 0630 to 0930. At 0915 I walked into the breakfast room and the only things available was coffee, Hot water, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage gravy and cartons of milk and yogurt. No bread bagels, cinnamon rolls, cereal I mean that was all that was out. So I asked the breakfast attendent if she at least had some bread. I was quickly informed that the breakfast was closed at 0930, so I guess I got a little smart back and said, I beleive that is sometime after 0920, as I look at my watch. After a couple of minutes she asked me if I still wanted some bread. by then I was just ready to finish the yogurt and find something somewhere else, didn't want to bother her, besides if I encourage her then she may think that I prefer to pay for that kind of service. Im really sorry for the rest of the hotel as everything else was just fine. But enough for my taste that I would probably not return. read more

I can promise you that if you are staying in Dayton, this is BY FAR your best option. I'm not really sure why people have had such bad experiences, but two different groups of us stayed and had a great experience. It was clean, the beds and pillows were super comfortable, the receptionist that greeted us was very pleasant, and the amenities are what you would expect for the price. There were tons of kids enjoying the pool as well! I went down for breakfast at about 9:15 and they had omelets, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, cereals and yogurt, breads and pastries, coffee, juice, and even a pancake station where you could make your own pancakes! We even had to stay at the hotel for a bit after checkout because we had a funeral at 1:00, and the TV area was comfortable and perfect for visiting with family! We booked this hotel through IHG rewards to redeem some bonus points and true to form they messed up our reservations. We had booked two rooms and when we arrived at the hotel they told us someone at IHG had cancelled our rooms. This was about 10:00 pm on one of their busiest weekends. Although not at all happy with IHG rewards, the staff at the hotel itself were extremely helpful and apologetic. They managed to at least get us one room and a roll away so we at least had a room for the night. Very friendly and hard working. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was quite good as well. I would strongly recommend this hotel but would book directly with them instead of going through IHG rewards. read more
