My husband and I spent a weekend at the lodge at Fall Creek Falls in mid May. Despite some rain (not in anyone's control). it was a great trip. The location is great. The lodge sits right inside the park, so you don't even have to drive to reach some of the hiking trails. You just walk out and start exploring. The restaurant was a huge benefit and good. Lodge restaurants can be hit or miss, but this one was solid. Breakfast was a basic continental spread, similar to a SpringHill Suites or Hampton Inn. Dinner was better. They brought hush puppies as bread service, and they were delicious. We had an excellent bacon burger and I ordered the grilled shrimp skewers. Shrimp was well cooked, juicy and seasoned well. The rooms were comfortable and modern. Provides a mini fridge and coffee service in the room. We had a balcony overlooking the water, which was one of my favorite parts of the stay. There's also a nice fire pit area outside the lodge for lounging in the evenings. Plenty of seating and group gathering space across the lobby. I'd highly recommend this place. We'll be back. It's only a few hours from Nashville, so it's an easy trip to plan. read more

I give it a 5 star because Bethany was amazing, the view was incredible and the food was decent. Food came to us very quickly and Bethany made sure we were happy and had all we needed all the while taking care of a few other tables on her own. Sweet kind and caring. Just the kind of service I prefer. Give this girl a raise!!!!! We recommend also the view will take your breath away. The Cajun pasta was the Cobb salad was ok very big. We came for lunch, 4 of us. It took 20 minutes to get a table outside, since we had a dog. The server came quick and was really nice. We ordered drinks and got them way after we ordered them, so they comped them. We ordered a spinach dip that tasted ok. Chicken Florentine with mash and broccoli, grilled cheese with added bacon and fries and bbq chicken flat bread as well as garden salad with shrimp. We got the food within 15 minutes. The flat bread was quite hard. My friend enjoyed the grilled cheese sandwich. I enjoyed the shrimp in the salad. The fries were great. Chicken Florentine was also tasty. The server checked in every so often. Overall it was good enough. Would give it 3.5 stars. read more

Great menu! A wide variety of food. The service was great, and I loved the view of the lake from the deck.

I'll start this review by saying we loved our stay at this gorgeous lodge. The staff has been INCREDIBLE and very sweet. The lodge itself is amazing and the trails are incredible. However, whoever is running the restaurant needs to figure it out. 3 days in a row of 45+ minute wait times when 1/4 of the restaurant is filled. EVERY single empty table tonight was covered in dirty dishes. When the two of us finally got seated, we were put between 2 filthy tables. Don't get me started on the food. It was so awful. I've had better food microwaved from Costco. We were finishing our meal when a giant bus cart was wheeled around and the waiters threw dishes and silverware in from the nearby tables. It was so loud and so strange. I could have grabbed all of those plates and taken them to the kitchen with no disturbances. It's very clearly short staffed or there are low budgets etc which I get but cmon. So bad!!! And such a bummer bc the standards are not high. Just serve great bar food, not microwaved crap! read more

We were staying at Falls Creek Falls campground and came over for dinner. We called earlier for reservations but they don't take them. When we arrived there was a 45 min. wait. We went to the bar and that's when things starting going south. First of all the bartender wasn't there and didn't show up for 15 minutes. By then there were six people waiting to order drinks but waiters had dropped off a stack of orders from tables that she filled first. When we finally got to place our order, everything we ordered from the menu they were out of. Common beer brands, out, decent wines, out. We finally ordered a house white and it was awful. When we were finally seated there were empty tables all over the place. I have to assume they were short staff and simply didn't open most of their tables. We had to ask for water. We had to ask for bread. We had to practically trip a waitress to get her to take our order. It took 45 minutes for the food to come - seriously, we timed it. The food wasn't worth the price, which was high. My catfish was good but my wife's, (same dish) was hard, dry and overcooked. Nobody in our party of six was happy. The hushpuppies were the only thing that I would label amazing. I'm not prone to bad reviews - if you look at my profile I trend towards 4s and 5s. The view from the bar makes a visit to the newly remodeled lodge worth the trip. I mean, look at my photo. The lodge is gorgemous! With a huge two sided fireplace in the lobby, it's the perfect place to relax after a day of hiking or before settling into your campsite at the nearby campground. The rates are reasonable, if you decide to stay for the night. We were camping, so we decided to grab a drink & a bite to eat before snuggling up for the night. Our bartender was friendly & made lots of recommendations when we asked. Our food, while not exactly gourmet, was more than serviceable & we really enjoyed the whole evening. BED BUGS!!! BEWARE! At first I was absolutely captivated by this place. There is a beautiful gas fire pit when you pull up, the Lodge has gorgeous views and there are lots of activities from fishing to kayaking and great hikes. However, this was hands down the WORST experience at a hotel we've ever had. Initially we were told our room wasn't ready due to a "housekeeping" issue, even though we didn't arrive until almost 11pm at night. Then at the last minute, they decided to give us the room (220). We didn't discover until the next day that the bunk beds in the room had bed bugs and that the staff knew about it and gave us the room anyways. Both of my children are covered in bites and are miserable. We had to cut our vacation short and even though we loved the trails and activities, we will NEVER come back. Staff could have cared less about my family or the inconvenience and were cold, never asked how we were or apologized for the inconvenience and I'm sure this will happen again to another unsuspecting family. We Loved this Lodge for so many reasons. I do want to address the negative comments that preceded my review. Social media review sites are to help people make a decision if they want to participate in a business, event or public place. It should be given a good rounded opinion and not a sounding place for frustration. Voice your frustration, but be fair to the rest of the experience. Most of the negative comments were of the restaurant in the Lodge. The restaurant layout was superb. Big open space, big windows, equal comfy booths to movable tables with wide base and nice padding. They also had a wonderful wrap around balcony facing the lake. They had tables as well as couches for just hanging out. They had a long outside bar with stools and a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. In the Morning they had your typical free continental breakfast. 2 waffle machines, no meat, but plenty of carbs. We love the Lodge had board games to play. The general area was so inviting to hang out with even the long tables had table plugs for your electronic devices . Staff was above and beyond in service and friendliness. They spoke whenever they saw you and helped with such a determination that it was like you were in some 5 star hotel in New York. We spoke to the general manager about the incredible hard working staff in the restaurant during Labor Day and he said that he would make sure they were rewarded. He spent extra time speaking to us about our experience there and wanted to genuinely improve anything while we were there. The rooms were spacious and modern. They balcony view was breath taking. The pool was warm and refreshing at the same time.There was so much activities at the Park and around it we never got board, but also was able to relax in the splendor of nature. We took a boat tour of the lake, went horse back riding and walked trails to the falls. We plan on taking our entire family next time. This is a place you can revisit all your life. The post-Covid shortages and lack of options are very evident. If you want a getaway in beautiful surroundings, [under] staffed by friendly, helpful people, in nice, new, accomodations, it's worth a visit. What's good: rooms are clean and spacious, balconies are big and most have great views. What's challenging: dinner options are very limited (get the fish tacos--and banana pudding if you want dessert), if you're there on a day when not all of the limited staff shows up--you'll wait. Why you should go: you want a convenient way to experience a spectacular state park, and you're willing to pack snacks/meals (there are fridges in the rooms). read more

I'm perplexed by the bad reviews of this gorgeous lodge. All I can think is that they have now staffed up and worked through the issues because we had a marvelous time. It's not a five star hotel but I'm giving it five stars for what it is - a state park lodge. All of the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. The building is beautifully designed. High ceilings, spacious common areas, and great views from every direction. Our room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view of the lake. It was quiet and we enjoyed watching the geese and ducks and other lake activity. I would avoid the rooms that overlook the pool, Seems like they would be louder and the ones on the lower floor don't have a view. We ate multiple meals in the restaurant and everything we had was good. Had to wait about 20 minutes for a table at dinner but service was good once we sat. Nothing gourmet but we didn't expect that. Prices what we expected. We had "beyond burgers", shrimp skewers, chicken sandwich, pulled pork salad...all good! The breakfast was standard hotel fare - cereal, toast, yogurt, granola bars, etc. Get there early if you want to make yourself a waffle. I didn't have to wait but there was a line when I left! I would have loved some other hot options but it was fine. We really enjoyed the pool. We were there around lunchtime on a Saturday in August and there were just a few other people there. It was a great way to cool off after our morning hike. Overall I really recommend the lodge. It wasn't cheap but it was convenient and beautiful. We loved our getaway! read more

It has been a month and nobody even bothered to address the issue I had--as I said, CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NONEXISTENT. Here is what I wrote to the supervisor at the front desk with no answer: "Major disappointment in your front desk staff. They would not check us in by 4pm to the room we were told we would be in. We did like our room 333 but waited way too long to get checked into it. If you knew it would be a busy weekend, you should have hired extra maid service so the rooms would be ready. We were told the room we could have instead was not of the caliber we bargained for, so we waited, and waited, and waited...     This is where customer service comes into play. Jeremy at the front desk could not make any decisions--for everything he had to run to the back room and ask Angie McClure, his manager. She came out and said she could not give us any compensation for our stay, not even a free drink or a perk for the inconvenience---THIS IS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Because of this, I am prepared to blog on all the travel sites on the web about how bad your customer service was. PLEASE EMAIL ME BACK to let me know how this bad experience can be rectified. Note: we do live in Chicago and it was a trip of a lifetime for us to finally get to your lodge and park--we did go out of our way and while everything was great, the Customer Service was lacking, very poor, for paying such high rates per night. We had a great experience at the lodge for the Mammoth Hike! The lodge is a beautiful facility, the staff was very friendly and the lobby with the fireplace, seating and games made it very comfortable and welcoming. The restaurant food was better than anticipated, however the wait was long, but the staff was working hard and friendly. I would definitely return. read more

This rebuilt Lodge at Fall Creek Falls has been fully opened since March 2022. We stayed in a King room on the first floor right beside the heated outdoor pool and The Restaurant at Fall Creek Falls. Accommodations are well maintained and comfortable, but there is no microwave provided. There is a complimentary "continental" breakfast to lodge guests with bagels, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt and boiled eggs. The only minor inconvenience we ran into was having to wait right up until check-in at 4 p.m. despite arriving about noon. Overall The Lodge is a beautiful, fresh facility that we would consider staying at again! read more

We loved our stay at the lodge! The rooms were your basic hotel rooms with a great view. The breakfast was a typical continental breakfast. The pool was nice, and the gas fireplaces were so nice! We enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch during the rain. We loved having access to the park quickly as we hiked 3-4 different trails. The restaurant on site was also great! I hate leaving bad reviews but we are very disappointed in this restaurant. The food is VERY bland. We ordered southern chicken tenders, cod sandwich, vegetable medley, wings etc. The wings were rubbery even though we asked for them to be cooked extra crispy, cod sandwich was greasy and rubbery with no seasonings, vegetable medley had no seasonings (not even salt and pepper). It was just sad and our bill was over $100. The fries were good and the view is beautiful. The lodge is gorgeous as well! read more

The restaurant and entire lodge is gorgeous. The younger gentleman who helped our family was named Gage. I think that may have been his last name though, as I thought I overheard another staff member call him Nicholas. Either way, he brought us the best bread rolls while we waited for our food to arrive. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. And be sure to ask for Nicholas Gage and the delicious bread rolls. Run by state employees with zero experience in hospitality. They are hostile argumentative and incompetent. Made our reservation months in advance, all requests were ignored, had issues accessing our room and apparently every time it rains they lose electricity. Lives up to every single stereotype of government employees and facilities. I miss Marriott. read more

The scenery alone is a reason to go, the food is ok been 3 times once it was great now average but . We love to take a Sunday drive during the season change and sit by the large glass windows and enjoy the beauty. So much to do up here, there is the restaurant of course. Just concluded a retreat at the Lodge at Fall Creek Falls and was extremely pleased with the facilities, food and service we received. Our guest list was 42 people. The parking and access to the Lodge is plentiful and easy. The facility is excellent, with multiple open spaces for relaxed conversations with friends. The large windows overlooking the lake make for a wonderful atmosphere. We arrived early and enjoyed lunch at the restaurant. I enjoyed the salad with grilled chicken-it was filled with beautifully prepared and fresh salad items. My wife had the chicken sandwich on toasted sourdough bread with cheese. The fries side was plenteous. Our guest room was very clean and modern for a state park. It was spacious with high ceilings giving it a more spacious feel. The minor negative is the seating in the room was uncomfortable-more of a work seat rather than a relaxing chair. Our retreat guest enjoyed a delicious and excellently served buffet taco bar for dinner and a over the top and amazing breakfast bar the following morning. The serving trays and equipment were prestige, each food item was hot and delicious and the staff were excellent in every way. The audio equipment was sent up as requested and worked without a flaw. We requested round tables that seated six guest and everything was set up and displayed just as requested. Our retreat only lasted one night and two meals and the general consensus was we wished we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the beautiful facility and relaxing atmosphere. read more

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this park no longer has a restaurant. They have a bar that serves mediocre rolls while you wait. Getting any actual food is impossible. We signed up on the wait list, and waited 45 minutes to get in. We were surprised to find that they weren't really all that busy once we got in. Quite a few empty tables. We waited over ten minutes for a waiter to come to our table. Finally she did come. "Can I get your drinks started?" No thank you, we'd like to order. She took our very simple order for two entrees- chicken tenders and fries / chicken breast and mashed potatoes. You'd think that would be relatively fast. Nope. It was ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES after ordering that we got our food. If you ever do get your food, it will be overpriced, bland, and in my case, cold. Fries were cold and tasted like they'd been under a heat lamp for a few hours. I threw them away. See photo. The chicken was okay, nothing special. Mashed potatoes were obviously instant potatoes with no seasoning, like you'd buy in a box at the dollar store. At no time were we offered any discount, accommodation, or understanding from this dumpster fire of a restaurant where we wasted 2 1/2 hours and $40 on bad food and zero service. I've been going to Fall Creek Falls restaurant since 2005... when they were in the old building that had a functioning restaurant. Last night was my last visit. The "hiker sandwiches" that they used to sell for $6? They're now $15, if you could even get one. Go to the park's Snack Bar instead and get a pizza for $12. At least their food is good and they can make it in a reasonable amount of time. This place is a hot mess. read more

Just had lunch there and was extremely disappointed. They have changed their limited menu. No more pasta dish. They were out of fish! The baked potato was so hard you could not cut it with a knife. And the frito pie was warm but not hot! My husband had the chopped steak and said that it was good. We have been here several times and everything has been good. I don't know if it is poor management or something else. But I was very disappointed. read more
