I came to London to explore the town, but not necessarily stay in the center of town, Holiday Inn Express Croydon was the perfect hotel. Croydon is a bit far out but it's only a 10 minute walk to the East Croydon station to catch a train to Victoria Station in less than 30 minutes.
I arrived early on Monday AM, drenched after a walk from the West Croydon train station. Luckily they checked me into my room at 10AM, I was grateful.
The rooms are modest but totally functional and comfortable. The bed and bedding were surprisingly comfortable. I love crisp white sheets.
There is a modest couch (I suspects folds down to another bed) but very comfortable to sit and watch the TV.
This hotel includes a free breakfast that was actually pretty good, Lots of choices and all was fresh and well-stocked.
Saturday night of my stay there was a rager in the room above mine, so glad I wore my earplugs that night. They were still going at 5 AM.
This place is tricky to find, GPS/Google tried to lead me through an adjacent mall, but that didn't really work. There is generally no easy way to get to this place, but over three days here, it was not problem once I got familiar with the area. read more
