I would've left 0 if I could've. We booked 2 rooms for Saturday night. We checked in at 1pm a few hours before our check in time because we had to go to a wedding reception. The lady allowed us to check in because we were not going to be back in until late at night. We showed up after the wedding at 12am Sunday morning and the 'manager' had no recollection of our reserved rooms. We payed $200 just to have our rooms be given to other people. Awesome. The manager was clueless and wanted to argue with us saying we were wrong even tho we had proof of our reservation. Will never use this hotel again. Manager should be fired. read more

The staff was super friendly and professional. However...Clean the place!! The room was absolutely disgusting!!! There was mold growing on the ceiling of the shower!!! Yuck!!! Also, there were no regular coffee pods in the room, only decaf. When I asked the housekeeping staff, they too only had decaf. The HVAC unit was so noisy it kept waking me. :0( Beds are comfortable. I would not recommend staying at this location. Due to the hotel being sold out as well as the others around it, I was unable to move locations. Unlike many of the other IHG hotels, this location was very underwhelming. The cleanliness of the room was a major concern. The carpet had cigarette burns, there was food shoved in the AC unit, the bathroom smelled like urine, corners of the bathroom had noticeable buildup and tiles in front of the tub were cracked. The soap dish was not even cleaned and new soap/face towel was placed on top of a soapy wet dish. The most concerning issue was the fact that the smoke detector was covered by a plastic bag which is a major safety concern. There was also a fire pit located outside of our window where other guests were loud most of the evening. read more

I'm torn. This place is pretty new and it's pretty clean. Nice rooms with free wi-fi and a great selection of channels if you're stuck in your room working. While in my room, I never heard anybody else walking around in the adjacent area. Those are the good things. The continental breakfast is pretty horrible. Whoa. Even the coffee was nasty. While some of the staff was friendly, when I checked in, the person assisting me stopped for a good 5 minutes or so while instructing someone else on how to perform another task. It's not really a huge deal, but since I was trying to meet the rest of our group down in the lobby as soon as we checked into the room, I was in a bit of a rush. So, it's just an okay for me. It was really inexpensive, but I'm not sure I'll be back. read more

When I checked in, everything went well. They have a very low incidental price which is only $25 and I thought that was excellent compared to what the hotels used to charge. I got to my room laid down because I was exhausted but I kept smelling mildew. The room had a funny odor when I walked in. When I woke up the smell was even louder, my pillow felt really cold and once I started to smell them they stank so bad like mildew and they were kind of damp. That's why they were cold underneath. I took them to the front desk and let the registration clerk smell them and he agreed that they did stink like mildew. He offered to move me but all I needed was some new pillows and he immediately brought me two new pillows. Whoever clean this room knew very well the pillow cases were still damp when she made the bed. read more

Do not stay here. I was home visiting for 4 nights and thought I would try this place instead of the Hyatt The desk people are very nice but the maids are awful. I asked just to refresh my room and they said they could not because of covid but just down the hall there were THREE maskless maids working on cleaning one room. So they are using covid as an excuse to not even open your door and give you fresh towels and empty the trash cans. My bed did not appear fresh and neither did the comfortor. When I asked the three maids in the hallway if I could at least have some fresh towels they would not and told me I had to go down to the reception and ask for them there.. My room didn't smell clean when I arrived. The shower curtain was torn. Never again will I stay here. read more

In town for a funeral and stayed here for the room jet tub and pool. We stayed in room 412. My wife woke me up at 3 am feeling bit by a bug. I was annoyed and just wanted to sleep so shrugged it off. She persisted so I got up and looked around the bed. Pictures attached of what we found. Bed bugs. Large, small and in between. It's now after 4 am and we had to move to another room including sleeping kids and now have all of our belongings in the dryer just in case. Needless to say we are not sleeping anymore tonight. Horrible experience. I got one of the bed bugs in a cup and brought it to the front counter along with my video. She was apologetic and said in 10 years she hadn't seen one. (I don't buy this part but I get why they say that). What concerns me is googling bed bugs shows that I had adults and smaller ones. Which means it's not a new issue. Hotel staff needs to be better trained on looking for these. My lesson? Look in depth on entering any hotel room for bed bugs. Never thought it would happen to me kinda thing but the mental aspect now won't go away. read more

This is the WORST Holiday Inn Express we gave ever stayed in! We checked in on Thursday...the bathroom sink would not drain. They told us that maintenance would not be in till the following day. Okay we thought that was reasonable because we didn't get here till after 7 pm from Detroit metro. The next day we went downstairs for the breakfast...which was poor. We were back in our room by 9:30 am, showered dressed and left by 10 am. We returned at 5:30 pm... The room had not been touched! Nothing was done bed not made, !towels were not picked up..garbage still there. And the sink was still backed up! The management told us that the cleaning people had left for the day! They upgraded us to a "King Suite".... and comped us the previous night stay. Not so good...the bathroom floor is sticky...(smells too)! The refrigerator for is not closing properly either!If it was not a weekend we would move to another hotel. We have made our last stay at a Holiday Inn! Since I'm from the area, I don't normally stay at hotels. But it was NYE and my boyfriend and I had played until the wee hours of the morning at Dave and Busters, followed by snacking at Steak and Shake, so it was time to find somewhere to crash. Of course being NYE there weren't a lot of hotels with openings left and when we found out that the Holiday Inn Express did have openings I was a little worried. I knew it was newer, having watched it go up, but I was afraid that it had openings for a reason. Our room was originally about $100, but with a AAA discount become something closer to $93. Finally, they saved us an extra couple bucks because it was late (early?) and obviously a room stayed in at a discount is better than an open room. When we walked into the lobby is was beautiful, I really felt like I was going somewhere special. I felt like it seemed upscale even though it was a Holiday Inn. The woman who checked us in was incredibly nice, and even though they were out of toothbrushes (it was a busy night) they gave us toothpaste and mouthwash. We got up to our room and again my expectations were blown away. I am always wary about the bedspreads in hotels. You hear all of the horror stories and it's just gross. Here there seemed to be none of these nasty covers. Instead the bed was a crisp white (had to be clean) almost like a duvet cover or something. I was pleasantly surprised and it was so soft. There also was an additional red blanket across the foot of the bed. There were both soft and firm pillows for each side of the bed and were marked so on the pillow cases. The room had a flat screen TV, a huge bench and the usual end table and desk. The bathroom was clean and spacious with a slightly larger tub/shower then normal. It had the normal little things waiting such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, coffee, tea, ect. Overall the room was way above what I expected. We checked out the next morning (11am) and left. As we were pulling into my driveway I realized I had forgotten my brand new shampoo and conditioner (Aveeno, $15 worth) in the shower. I wasn't ready to go back and get it right away because I was still exhausted from the night before. I called the number that had been on our receipt. The front desk girl, Naomi answered my call and assured me that she would get them and have them waiting for me at the front desk for when I came to pick them up. As it happened, my Mom ended up picking them up for me about 3:00 that day because she was in the area. As promised they were waiting at the front desk and Naomi had gone and gotten them herself and mentioned that she understood why I wanted to come back and get them. There had also been a complimentary breakfast that looked pretty extensive, but we didn't make it down in time (it ended at 10:00) A fantastic experience for the right price. I would go to this hotel first next time I needed one in my hometown. It was just exceptional. read more

Hotel is new and nice. The room has all the major things you would expect: free internet flat screen tv lamps with electrical sockets But, let me get straight to the point. This place is really nice for one reason: the bathroom. The toilet is like something I have never seen before. If the toilet was a car, it would be a top fuel dragster, with a jet pack strapped to it. I tried, and tried again, but nothing could stop it. In addition, I have noticed that Holiday Inn uses these innovative shower curtain bars that are curved outward to give the shower user more room without rubbing against the shower curtain. Two Thumbs Up. No one wants to touch that curtain. God knows where it has been. But thanks to this genius invention, I can stay a minimum of 4" away from it at all times. Anyways, over the years Holiday Inn has really stepped up its game, and this hotel is no exception. read more

I find Holiday Inns to be an economic alternative. It's not the best hotel, but for what you pay, it's not bad. Room: decent, good sized bed, good sized bathroom. My husband always does a quick sweep for potential bedbugs..... And luckily, there were none! The walls were adequately thick enough. We could hardly hear any adjacent neighbours chatting or people walking and talking outside. Amenities: Pool was empty for the duration of my stay, but then again it's hard to trust how clean a hotel pool is. It was a decent size for a swimming pool. I don't love how it's on the main floor so everyone will pass by as they go to the elevator. Gym is the size of a large walk in closet. They had a few treadmills and a set of dumbbells. No other weightlifting machines available. WiFi is pretty stable, but once you're back to the ground floor, you're cut off. Staff: although they kind of bicker in the hallways, they are kind to the guests and stop when they know you're there. I've been to other stores or establishments where the staff will continue to insult each other or the management. The staff are friendly, patient and willing to take the time to clean or to resolve any issues. Food: complementary breakfast is not good. But it's free. So just choose wisely. You'd only come down if you want to just get full.... Not for taste. Its clean rooms, friendly staff and low cost are enticing enough to come back to this no frills type of Hotel. read more

My coworkers and I ended up here after fleeing from our previous hotel. This hotel was a huge step up from our last place. There are plenty of good things to say about this hotel. Some of us ended up with rooms with jacuzzi tubs (I was one of the lucky ones). The rooms are very large and the entire hotel is very clean. The staff is very friendly and there are even free cookies. The breakfast available in the mornings was very good. Lots of choices. The gym was small but very clean and functional and the pool was a saltwater pool. The hotel is located to a lot of amenities and next door to a Dave and Busters which was great. There is a McDonalds and a National Coney within walking distance. Within a short drive are many different stores and resturants. The only negatives that I encountered is that the wifi was not the greatest and the kitchenette was only a mini fridge and microwave. I earned plenty of points as I was there for quite awhile for work and will be returning to the hotel this summer for vacation. read more

We stayed at this hotel for one night the service was very rude we came in and asked if we could do early check in we were told we couldn't until three so we went about our business , but a friend was staying at the hotel as well she came asked the same thing and they let her in , but what's funny is that they said that she could because she had a room with one bed, but how did he know what kind of room we had if he didn't ask for our name. I worked at this place as a housekeeper and I was told not to clean the comforters only if they smelled very bad. Was told to also "quickly" wipe everything down, meaning not to do it very good just for the sake of getting in and completing as many rooms as possible.keeping old linen and towels in the same room without washing them if they didn't look "dirty" even though they were clearly used and unfolded. Was told just to spray air freshener on comforters if they had a mild mildew smell on the bed or carpets even towels. The third floor was and is still infested with bed bugs. They still wanted me to go inside and clean those rooms but I refused. They also almost never change the shower curtains leaving black mold to grow which on most curtains it was noticeable. The carpets are almost never vacuumed as well only if there are noticeable pieces of food or anything, even so I was told to just pick up pieces and throw away. Lotions on the bathrooms counter top weren't replaced unless noticeably used and almost empty. So anyone could've used it before you. Also heard there was a roach infestation in the kitchen area but haven't seen any myself but I do not doubt it due to the dirtiness and terrible quality of this hotel!!! If I were you , I would not book this hotel for any reason! Unless you want to bring bed bugs home with you, become sick from the mold, or get a fungus from using the same dirty linens and towels from the people that stayed there previously. Seriously look for another hotel to stay at because there are multiple in the area. Also the staff is not trustable, most of them drug Addicts and allowed to do drugs on the job as long as they are working! Do not bring your family here under any conditions. Please find a new place to stay, saying this as someone who worked there everyday and would never ever buy a room knowing what goes on here. read more

Daughter lives in area & took granddaughter so mom & dad could have a "date" night for son in laws birthday. Good location for all ages, very clean, good service & GREAT breakfast buffet. Everyone was very friendly & helpful. Indoor pool was a bit cool but still enjoyable. read more

Starts with the fact that Hall Road (major artery you will use to get to this hotel) looks like something from Baghdad with huge potholes and cracks. No the hotel's fault, but when considering options it weighs against this location. The we have the cigarette smokers gauntlet at the front door. After unpacking I found the TV didn't work. I was told they would require us to move to another room, so I went to work moving cables until I figured it out. Decent room, decently clean, typical HIE breakfast fare. We were there for a Friday and Saturday night. Friday night was OK, but Saturday night a rude and obnoxious crew hit the 4th floor yelling and screaming around 2 am. Again, hotel staff can't know who the idiots are, but it may be a function of this location. read more

This is the second time that my family and I have stayed here while in from out of town visiting our family. This is also the second time that we were disappointed. The first experience we had our room it was located right next to the elevator and every time it would stop at our floor you would hear the "ding"! This went on for most of the night. So when making the reservation online this time, I requested our room away from the elevator. It was room 417, directly across from...yep, the elevator!!! Although, this time it was not an issue. The issue this time was the bug on the curtain! You do not sleep as sound once you see that. Also, if the room can sleep six people (we had five) why would you only have three bath towels in the bathroom? I didn't interact with the staff so I cannot comment there. My son and I did have the breakfast in the morning and we were both pleased with the offerings. However, we will be looking for other accommodations next time we are in town. read more

I just completed my stay at this Holiday Inn Express and have nothing but positive things to say. We stayed in a suite for a bachelorette party and there was enough room to sleep all 11 of us without the need for a blow-up mattress of any kind. The room was very clean and offered a sink, fridge, microwave, and plenty of counter space for food prep. The only downside of our stay was that the hallways were all under construction, but I'm sure that will be completed soon and it will look fabulous. The wifi also seemed to drop from my phone a lot. read more

Had a horrible experiance. A hockey tournament was staying here and kids ran rampant all night. Staff did nothing to stop it. Kept my wife and child up all night. Kids running up and down halls screaming, banging on doors and walls and floors. Scared my child and ruined my whole night. For the price I paid should have had a wonderful stay. I had a reservation to stay at the Utica Holiday Inn Express executive jacuzzi suite last night. I did not stay because the room was redecorated and didn't look finished. With all the space in the sitting area, there was no TV, only one in the bedroom. The entire fourth floor was under construction. I was wondering why I wasn't informed about the construction. I informed the front desk that I was just wanted to cancel my reservation. She asked what the problem was. The young lady at the front desk informed me that all suites from this day forward will only have one television. That didn't make sense to me because this suite was so big with such a big seating area, why would they remove the tv. I have stayed in this suite before, one of my favorite rooms to stay in. I believe the room was still under construction and maybe not ready to rent out. The previous room included a fireplace, two television, refrigerator, microwave, big sitting area and a jacuzzi. The new room included microwave,refrigerator, big empty seating area, TV in bedroom and jacuzzi. The new room didn't feel worth the same money at all. We sectioned off a block of rooms for our wedding on 10.06.18 . Needless to say that was the worst hotel selection I could have made on my wedding night for my husband and I and for my guests. Not only did we have a horrible experience but we received numerous complaints from wedding guests of ours. Multiple guests were given room keys to hotel rooms that were already occupied . As well as keys that didn't open room doors . We were on the 4th floor and had to continuously goto the front desk to get our room keys "activated" only to be told they were working go back upstairs to find out they were not (this occurred at least 4 times with one couple). I was also charged for the most expensive room in our package even though I booked the cheaper one . I emailed corporate to discuss the several issues we encountered at the hotel that night particularly for myself and 1 other guest who had multiple issues and had a 1 month old being carried up and down the hotel looking for rectification . The response I received from them was "thank you for letting us we will keep your complaint on file " . I will never stay at a Holiday Hotel ever again and I will be sure to warn others and ensure they don't stay here either .
