Me and my wife got invited to this place one of my best friends wedding. I really didn't wanna go. I had a feeling was gonna be a disaster when I got there. Everybody was sweating on the dance floor on the tables. The people I was sitting with they were complaining about how hot was it we asked the waitress to get a Coca-Cola. She told me once you go get it yourself. She was being rude to people. I was sitting with the waitress how terrible of the waitress isn't talking to the people like this. They serve us a salad was so soggy and brown the chicken they served us with a fillet. It's like about two weeks old. That's what I felt like I think they were serving people garbage food. I do not recommend this place to anybody it was a bad experience over there and the owner. Frank doesn't give a shit about customer service. He cares about his own money because I was complaining it was 80° inside the place all the people were complaining. How hot was it? I go to the front desk. They told me the air conditioner doesn't work how terrible of this place people read my message before going over there spending all that kind of money it's not worth it and the Owner hung up on us. Been here many times but its been about 2 years until recently. We went for a Communion and we were far from impressed. The food which had great flavor was served cold. Cold to the point that it came right out of the fridge. What made it worse was the service. Here for a wedding and I was pleasantly surprised. I've heard this hall is hit or miss, but those people must've been smoking because everything here was great! However, I'm only speaking on my experience from a wedding, not eating in the actual restaurant. Regardless, the hall looked gorgeous and the staff were really working hard to get us anything we requested as they handed out each course. They even joked with us that most people like their food still mooing when I asked about the rare meat. Overall nice spot. read more

My fiancee and I had spoken to Villa Penna several times via email and scheduled a tour. At minimum were going to host our reception there but possibly the ceremony as well. We arrived today at 9:52 for our 10 am appointment and waited, as the doors were locked, on an outside bench by the door. A woman turned into the parking lot near us speeding as though she was late for an appointment, so we figured she was who we were meeting with. We waited but no one came. By 10:08 I tried phoning only to get an after hours message. I also wrote an email saying perhaps we were at the wrong door but crickets. By 10:15 we drove to the back where her car and another was present but couldn't enter there either so we left. It's now 2 hours and 55 minutes after our appointment and there's still crickets. Looking at other reviews I believe the woman saw two people of color and decided they didn't want to service us. My fiancee and I are middle age professionals who came prepared to conduct a finanical transaction today. I'm recovering from a major surgery yet delayed my recovery to keep my appointment for a venue we were excited about but I know why we were ignored and will take our business elsewhere. If you are a person of color don't even waste your time here or at their sister property. read more

I cannot understand how anybody could give this place a negative review. I have had my kids baptisms, communions, and now confirmation for my oldest here at Villa Penna. I also had my wedding at Pennas of Sterling. But where I was really impressed was I ordered a carryout for a 50 person party for my MIL 70th bday party I was having at my home and it was phenomenal . Every experience I've had with this family company has been the epitome of customer service and the food is always perfect, served hot and always on point. The servers at all our events have always exceeded our expectations and have gone out of their way to make sure our events are handled perfect even to the finest detail. I had one of my child's baptisms with a well known restaurant owner because Pennas didn't have availability for the date and it was a disaster on every level and when I discussed the issue with the owner, he did nothing to resolve the problem. George, Sandy, Tony and Marylou have always treated our family like family. I always hear people say "Pennas is so expensive!" You definetly get what you pay for and when you chose Penna's you get over 50 years of making special events for metro Detroiters extra special, there is nobody that does it better!!! read more

We ordered the hot Christmas Eve dinner package. We've never ordered one of their Togo packages & we're excited to give it a try & make our Christmas Eve dinner a little easier. I had questions, communicated by email and got quick responses. At first we thought it was a bit pricey but after we got it we didn't feel that way. Everything was delicious. The soup and garlic bread easily fed all 5 of us, the salad was small but that was ok because not everyone wanted salad. The pastas, chicken, beef, potatoes, green beans were huge servings that fed everyone with a lot of leftovers. I appreciated that they gave extra containers of the sauces without even having to ask. The only thing that I would've liked is to be able to purchase a dessert and also have the option to have just marinara instead of meat sauce on the mostaccioli. (Because we have some that prefer no meat). We were very pleased with the easy pick up also. read more

The Penna family and staff made everything so easy throughout the entire planning process, from setting our wedding date (July 2016) to planning our menu to putting together the tables setup to answering all my questions when I called. We had my mother-in-laws 90th Birthday Party here. The food was great. The wine was bad. Disappointed in the Bocci Room. Was upset with the owner, George Penna and Manager Janice as I received miss or lack of communication from the hall. George did NOT want to hear my concern nor did his manager. At 5:00 pm I found George Penna in the lounge. George Penna insisted that Penna's does not make errors and implied I was a lier. How sad when one losses respect for an individual. I had my daughter's baby shower here. The food was good. That's where it ends. The manager came in with such a negative attitude. Telling me if I wanted to start with the meal we could but if any guest is late they will not bring any food back out for them. She kept repeating it. I got it. I had three men there. My husband and two son-in-law's. I paid for 50 people and only had 48. So two meals that no one ate. I separated the three men to a small side table. The manager was upset. Telling me they couldn't give them food. I would have to create a table for ten for them. Huh?? So basically I would pay for 7 more people just to let three people eat at a side table. After she came up to me during the first course. I asked to see someone other than her that was in charge. She goes running back screaming, "Frank, she wants to see you." Meanwhile my pregnant daughter and I are waiting. He comes out saying they can't give three people food. That would create a mess in the kitchen? We can't give them a platter since it's family style? I could order more if I wanted to regardless? The whole thing made zero sense. I was getting upset. More family members came out. He's battling me. I tell him I am getting upset. He says he doesn't really care. The hall where the guests are is quite because they are listening. He and the rude woman were never seen again. They ended up giving the three men a plaited meal. Reluctantly and with me getting so upset. The bus boy ran the rest of the event. Would not give anyone a container to take their cake home. Maybe 2 containers? Everything the busboy had to go ask the hidden manager. Never again would I book an event there. I think they feel they have so much business who cares about one event.
