I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn for a very long time. I would say over decades and the reason why I picked this hotel while we were staying in New Jersey was the location. Overall the small town of Hazlet was very close to other neighboring areas. It was recommended that we stayed here due to the fact that Holmdel was a close drive. I was expecting the worst of the worst. But overall our experience was quite enjoyable. The room was small but clean. The showers worked and had a good amount of water pressure. The air conditioning was able to set to a low temperature so it wasn't at all hot while we were in the room. Overall the experience was pretty alright. The price though was quite expensive for the weekend. Also we were not able to choose the rooms since there was a large party for a wedding. The hotel itself has only two floors and plenty of parking outside. Pretty alright stay, just wished it was a little bit cheaper of a rate.

Before coming here I read reviews by other guests and was expecting the worst. My reservations were made by a third-party responsible for my stay here, and I did not want to offend them so I stayed. I also stayed here once before four years. I can only comment on my own experience. I have had a positive experience both times. The people at the front desk have been attentive and friendly to me. My room has been very comfortable, actually one of the more comfortable hotels I've stayed in. Everything was also clean and well-maintained in my room. The halls and common areas also have been clean and well-maintained. The room was equipped with a flat screen television with cable channels, a microwave, refrigerator, desk, plenty of plugs for recharging your devices, a loveseat and coffee table. There are three large drawers for clothes as well as a nice sized closet. There is an iron and ironing board to freshen up your clothes as they come out of the suitcase. The room has nice draperies over the windows including a privacy curtain that blocks the sun rays. There are plenty of mirrors and some pleasant artwork on the walls. The ceiling in the bathroom is a foot shorter than the rest of the room, so if you are over 6'5" don't jump. ;-) I did not try the pool as it was covered in ice the night I arrived. But it looks like it could be a nice place to relax in the summer time. They have a fitness center equipped with treadmills and various other exercise equipment. I was a little disappointed they do not have free weights as that is what I prefer to use. However they have a machine that works pretty much any muscle you want to work out. To get to the breakfast buffet you go through the bar area first. You're welcome to sit in the bar area or in the breakfast area. I sat in the bar area that I almost froze as when the air came on that blew cold air right at me, and quite forcefully. The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, bread or toast (your choice of white wheat or rye), scrambled eggs, sausage links or bacon (the paper thin kind), fried potato cubes, and pancakes. There was also a couple pieces of fresh fruit. Breakfast does not automatically come with the room. You have to pay for it in advance to have it included and then go to the reception desk every morning to get a ticket for that day. Otherwise, you can just pay $12 apiece for the breakfast. I felt it was rather pricey for what you get, and the quality was not as nice nor as fresh as in a restaurant. The hotel layout is unusual. Most hotels have rooms on the outside of the building so you can have a window to the outside, and the hall is in between the rooms. This hotel is completely the opposite. The hallway is along the outside of the building and the rooms are in the inside of the building. Your room window faces the hallway, and then the window in the hallway to the outside. Perhaps that is a northern thing. Other Yelper guests had complained of either pieces of metal sticking out from under the bed or other problems which I did not experience at all. I would stay at this hotel again, but just prefer to eat breakfast someplace else.

Rooms aren't soundproof. You WILL hear everyone and everything in the hallway and next door. Staff is ineffective and quite incompetent.

" So first impression: Lakeside Manor does not seem to be a fan of free speech based on that e-mail. The subjective experience and opinions of someone there (note my Yelp checkin) apparently are not worth politely responding to, as they try to address their customer service issues to provide a better experience to the family wedding party, rather they would like the review removed as if it never happened and to threaten a lawsuit in an attempt to dial back free speech and have a chilling effect on public participation when you are less than pleased with a local business because every time you don't give a five star review, you might get sued. This is a fucking disgusting and morally reprehensible attempt to toll the freedoms we all take for granted. - but good thing the law is on my side, since you do not need to look hard to find a quote from Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman that no Yelp user has ever been successfully sued for their reviews. Good thing I forwarded a copy of that e-mail to my fucking attorney - wait, I am a fucking attorney. So when you use LAKESIDE MANOR that is the kind of charming customer service you receive. Oh and on top of the Yelp message, everyone in your family is going to get an angry phone call from Syed R too, if you give anything less than five stars. Because you know, one Yelp review from someone states away is *that* big of a deal it is worth bothering everyone in my extended family. Apparently I am the only one who thinks the entire situation is a little fucking stupid, very fucking ridiculous, and even more fucking childish. One star for your piss-poor customer service and interfering in my family's life Syed R - you have wasted my time and my family's time.

My taste had changed since our wedding was postponed over a year and she made every single change and stayed without our original budget. I wanted fairytale, but before I was doing more colors and then I decided I wanted a more ethereal feel, so we revamped EVERYTHING and she created exactly what I wanted in her studio. She created multiple centerpieces to choose from and we arranged everything in her place to exactly what I wanted. She did samples of the high and low centerpieces, my bouquet, the girls' bouquets, even the boutonnières and corsages. She also had all of the accompaniments, from the floating candles, all of the hurricane glass for down the aisle, etc. They do it all! She even was spray painting asparagus fern for me to go with my dusty blue and white color palette. Even her stands for the florals was gorgeous. For some pieces, like our ceremony arch, she constructed it all herself. She also moved pieces around from ceremony to reception so we didn't have to buy the same pieces twice. She also set up all of my homemade decor/signs/etc. and decorated them with florals to match. It was everything I ever wanted in wedding flowers, they truly felt en vogue. The flowers lasted SO LONG too, we had them for over a week in our house and our parents houses, and they were so stunning. They made sure everything had the proper water supply and was misted, especially because it was July so it was hot! The photos of the flowers speak for themself! But even if mine aren't your style, she does it ALL.
