Vee is an amazing manager. She always offered us water if we needed. The first floor also had juice and ice water available. The rooms are clean, although the bathroom is a bit small. There is a pool in the middle of the hotel. When we needed towels, they were always readily given to us. There is also only one elevator, which is a bit of an inconvenience when you have a lot of luggage. Overall, exceptional service and good location. Expectations: Clean and Quiet I'll give credit where it's due--the staff clearly make an effort to keep the rooms and property clean. While I think cleanliness could be improved, I'm realistic about the condition of the building and appreciate the effort. Unfortunately, when it comes to quiet, this hotel fails miserably. The room layout offers zero soundproofing. You can hear everything from neighboring conversations to private moments, which makes getting a decent night's sleep nearly impossible. Short of a full teardown and rebuild, I don't see how the noise issue can be resolved. The location is great if you're headed to the shore, but I won't be staying here again. read more

I would like to bolster this place a little, I think it deserves better than the 2.3 rating it is getting. Just one review won't move the needle much, but I do want to vouch for it as a clean, comfortable hotel. My expectations were low given the composite rating it has, but it was fine for one night. I was going to a concert at the nearby PNC Bank Arts Center, and didn't feel like I could make the drive back to Upstate NY the same night. This was less expensive than the Best Western, also nearby, and there were also lower-priced hotels that were not part of national chains. The room behind must have been doing it in their room, as the fumes carried over the air system vents into the room. Stayed 1 night for a wedding. First off, walk into the room, it's dark and there is no light switch by the door. One light on each side of the bed with a tiny toggle button switch, hard to find in the dark. The only other light is a small desk lamp. Open the door to the bathroom and the hinges squeal like crazy. Asked front desk to send maintenance to fix, never came. Room was tiny, hardly any room to get past the bed. First of all... The rooms are clean and quite nice, but the service is horrible. The management team is lacking in experience and they seem to be faking their sweet smiles and over indulging comments. The housekeeping staff is not that pleasant except for the main housekeeper who was very on top of things after I complained. They need new management! I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn for a very long time. I would say over decades and the reason why I picked this hotel while we were staying in New Jersey was the location. Overall the small town of Hazlet was very close to other neighboring areas. It was recommended that we stayed here due to the fact that Holmdel was a close drive. I was expecting the worst of the worst. But overall our experience was quite enjoyable. The room was small but clean. The showers worked and had a good amount of water pressure. The air conditioning was able to set to a low temperature so it wasn't at all hot while we were in the room. Overall the experience was pretty alright. The price though was quite expensive for the weekend. Also we were not able to choose the rooms since there was a large party for a wedding. The hotel itself has only two floors and plenty of parking outside. Pretty alright stay, just wished it was a little bit cheaper of a rate. read more

Avoid at all costs. Stayed here for one night while in town at the extortionate rate of $250. Even for a weekend, this is an incredibly poor value based on the condition of the properly - the most important feature being bed bugs. I stayed in Room 260, avoid anywhere near there. The room seemed clean enough but when me and my companion got home, we noticed dozens of red bites on our ankles, legs, and torsos. We thought it was an allergic reaction or something so we went to the doctor the next day - nope, those are bed bug bites. Had to take time off work, deep clean the entire house, and discard multiple pieces of clothing and luggage that could not be decontaminated. I immediately called the hotel to report the issue - the general manager refused to pick up the phone and, of course, his mailbox is full. Called IHG corporate who said they'd escalate the issue and get in touch with someone. Over 48 hours later and no response from the hotel. Called the hotel again and finally spoke with someone at the front desk who was argumentative and told me I must submit medical records to even continue the conversation. I called corporate to confirm this policy and they said "it is the hotel's matter, not ours". I do not expect the general manager to ever contact me and make this right. On top of the bed bugs, you may enjoy the wall paper that is falling off the walls, the loud music playing in the hallways even at 12AM, and paper thin walls. read more

Before coming here I read reviews by other guests and was expecting the worst. My reservations were made by a third-party responsible for my stay here, and I did not want to offend them so I stayed. I also stayed here once before four years. I can only comment on my own experience. I have had a positive experience both times. The people at the front desk have been attentive and friendly to me. My room has been very comfortable, actually one of the more comfortable hotels I've stayed in. Everything was also clean and well-maintained in my room. The halls and common areas also have been clean and well-maintained. The room was equipped with a flat screen television with cable channels, a microwave, refrigerator, desk, plenty of plugs for recharging your devices, a loveseat and coffee table. There are three large drawers for clothes as well as a nice sized closet. There is an iron and ironing board to freshen up your clothes as they come out of the suitcase. The room has nice draperies over the windows including a privacy curtain that blocks the sun rays. There are plenty of mirrors and some pleasant artwork on the walls. The ceiling in the bathroom is a foot shorter than the rest of the room, so if you are over 6'5" don't jump. ;-) I did not try the pool as it was covered in ice the night I arrived. But it looks like it could be a nice place to relax in the summer time. They have a fitness center equipped with treadmills and various other exercise equipment. I was a little disappointed they do not have free weights as that is what I prefer to use. However they have a machine that works pretty much any muscle you want to work out. To get to the breakfast buffet you go through the bar area first. You're welcome to sit in the bar area or in the breakfast area. I sat in the bar area that I almost froze as when the air came on that blew cold air right at me, and quite forcefully. The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, bread or toast (your choice of white wheat or rye), scrambled eggs, sausage links or bacon (the paper thin kind), fried potato cubes, and pancakes. There was also a couple pieces of fresh fruit. Breakfast does not automatically come with the room. You have to pay for it in advance to have it included and then go to the reception desk every morning to get a ticket for that day. Otherwise, you can just pay $12 apiece for the breakfast. I felt it was rather pricey for what you get, and the quality was not as nice nor as fresh as in a restaurant. The hotel layout is unusual. Most hotels have rooms on the outside of the building so you can have a window to the outside, and the hall is in between the rooms. This hotel is completely the opposite. The hallway is along the outside of the building and the rooms are in the inside of the building. Your room window faces the hallway, and then the window in the hallway to the outside. Perhaps that is a northern thing. Other Yelper guests had complained of either pieces of metal sticking out from under the bed or other problems which I did not experience at all. No frills hotel. I stayed here for a wedding that was held at The Addison Park. The check in process was quick and easy, as was the check out process. The layout of the hotel is a little odd and getting to the room was a little more difficult than it should have been especially with all my baggage. The room was clean, but the lighting in the room was absolutely horrid. It was pretty difficult to do my makeup in this hotel room. After check out, my fiance and I walked out of the hotel and there were messes of beer bottles, empty glasses, and trash strewn around the front entrance/ benches from the night before. Stayed here because of proximity to PNC Bank Arts Center as we were seeing a concert. Lobby is beautiful. Rooms are not. 1970 wants its couch back. Rooms are very dated. Lime green paint. But really it was just about having a place to lay our heads. The room was clean. The hotel itself needs better housekeeping. Stared at same empty wine glass on the credenza near the elevator for 2 days. The courtesy coffee station next to the from desk garbage pail filled with beer bottles, clearly from night before. Nobody emptied the garbage? That's not what you want to see or smell when making your morning coffee. Vibe, the restaurant/bar attached to here is good place to grab a bite or a drink. So that was good. Weekend breakfast buffet was ehh Soggy, wet scrambled eggs, damp toast, cereal, bacon. They need bigger coffee cups. And lids! Like the size of a childs paper cup. Would I stay here again? If coming to another concert, maybe. Rather stay further away at nicer hotel. This place served its purpose for our one night. Holiday Inn has got to step up their game. Ah, where to start. This is by far the worst location I've stayed at. After waiting patiently to get a room due to last minute changes in my business plans, I had to raise my voice to the the attention of the person in the back of the office. It appeared he was perhaps sleeping or watching a movie. Then there was a "sensor" that looks like a sketchy camera pointing towards the bed in room 260.... Huh, maybe that's what he's watching? Even if it IS in fact a sensor, come on. Change that out. As my teenagers would say, totally sketch. After being totally creeped out and covering the camera looking object, I stroll to the bathroom on the hunt for other suspicious looking devices. I don't find any but I did find a ceiling in the bathroom that was held up by a nail. Intriguing. Should I even mention the spot of old blood on my sheets or the hair in the bathroom? Forget it.... This entire place looks like they started to remodel and were just like "nah, let's go gets some drinks instead. Not worth it". I read the other reviews and please management, save your copy and paste apology for someone else. Trust me, you'll be hearing from me shortly. I've stayed here on multiple occasions due to my job booking rooms for me (which I am thankful for), but oh my goodness I've been waiting to drop this review. Management is terrible. Due to the overwhelming complaints on Yelp! I am sure they are aware of how rude they are...but that doesn't seem to change their behavior. It wasn't a five-star experience, but pretty decent for our one night stay: The check-in went smoothly, the common areas and our room were clean and smelled fine. I found HOTEL.com via my company rewards program and while attempting to cash out the $75 money awarded to me by my job. I was hoping to use the $75 towards traveling (booking a flight) however, since I was recently informed I would need a room for 1nite...it came in handy apply these rewards to purchase a hotel room. I thought it was cool how even though I had a balance for the room of $39.75...and it was easy to finalized my transaction by simply entering my cc information to pay the balance due. Negative was...not sure why I read that...I will be charged a deposit of $25....I didn't understand this. But I went ahead hoping upon my arrival that I am not asked or charged an extra $25 for deposit for the deluxe room I am looking forward to staying in. FOLLOW UP RESULTS: After visiting this location I was pleasantly surprised my visit. The hotel had 4.5 ratings however, the bride & groom had a different experience but that for a whole another reason... Anyway my bff's wedding & reception was held here on 11/05/16 and all went well. Cons: The carpet in the reception room needed to be shampoo & vacuumed better. Pros: You can decorate to cut cost (but, I after this past w/e and all my hard work...I don't ever want to decorate like that again) My room was clean, staff was polite they offered great customer service and the room accommodations was perfect to me. Also, upon checking in I was asked for the additional $25 as a security deposit which is to be refunded after your stay. Overall I liked my stay here & would recommend it to others. Like staying in a crappy roadside hotel. We've stayed in Holiday Inns before, some that were actually beautiful, but this one was an absolutely horrible experience from start to finish. From our arrival at the reservation desk when we said we were there to check in at 1 pm and without even a hello or asking our name, we were told that reservations were strictly at 3pm and that we would have to wait until then, even though I am a a member and had requested an early check in ahead of time. The pool was dirty, there were not enough chairs or towels, which ran out and were not replenished. There was no one working at the onsite restaurant so we had to get in our car and go to TGI Friday's, 5 minutes away. Lastly the "complimentary" coffee served in the lobby from 6 am to 10 am is the same exact crap they serve in the rooms, powdered creamer and all. They should be paying me to stay here. Horrible! We attempted to book the Holiday Inn for a wedding shower and was quoted different prices 3 times for block reservations!! My initial quote for an October date was 139.95 plus tax, subsequently 159.95 and when we attempted to to finalize the contract, it dramatically jumped to 179.95. V, the manager was very difficult to reach and once available, very rude to our event coordinator. She was almost impossible to contact and difficult to talk to. Very condisending and short. Constantly overtalking and no attempt to relate to the customer. We chose this establishment as it is in partnership with Vibes, the adjoining event space. What a difference in the two establishments hospitality and customer service. If Vibe can un-associate itself with this rude establishment it would be best!! This ace gives IHS a bad reputation. Horrible experience! Roaches all over the room! Walked in the room was freezing! I turned on the heat because I had my 3 yo son with me and wanted to prepare him for bed. As soon as the heat started to kick up alllll the roaches started to come out! All different sizes! HORRIBLE!!! I explained to the front desk girl she seemed very understanding! She gave me info for another hotel down the street because I explained to her I couldn't stay there with an child. She told me I wouldn't be able to get my money back because I went through a third party so contact the manager tomorrow. I contacted Vee the next day, explained to her what happened she was sooo rude and basically told me she couldn't do anything about the refund. So still to this day I have no refund! Let me start off my saying I had my wedding at Addison Park in Aberdeen and this is the only hotel that has transportation within the area. My now wife and I met with the general managers on site which seemed to go fine but they are beyond strict about the check in time for guests they won't let anyone check in early even if you request it. I hosted a wedding that began at 4 and check in was at 3..... that's a time crunch and it becomes unwelcoming to my guests to have to rush. We were getting ready at the hotel and to do so we had to book rooms for two nights to again avoid their no early check in. We spent close to $650 in rooms just to get ready. They let my wife use a conference room that had one small fold out table for the makeup artist or the hair dresser to use. They had to go downstairs to ask for more tables because the closet door in the conference room was jammed shut with tables so you couldn't open the door to get the tables that you needed. For our guests when checking in we had hospitality bags which some guests got and others didn't. We were specific that each of our guests that check in get a bag, the bags were all gone only to the wrong wedding, they had another set of blocked out rooms by a completely different wedding. They have a rule for the bridal suite as well you need to book 25 rooms to get the bridal suite for free for the bride and groom. We had a smaller wedding that's nearly impossible when people live locally, needless to say we couldn't have the bridal suite unless we paid $350 for it. That's ridiculous we brought business to both you and the restaurant within your hotel. We were able to book 18 rooms, we held the vibe bar open and had a sit down breakfast the next morning. Instead we got a regular room on our wedding night with nothing extras or anything special. They claim they are about hospitality and I 100% disagree with them having hospitality. read more

*PLEASE READ* We have reserved a room block for our guests for our wedding 13 months ago. We were told that as the Bride and Groom we will have a suite for our wedding night. They have 3 suites on premises and can not assign a room to us at the moment until after the deadline of the reservations. We scheduled to meet with Vee after the guest deadline was up to have our final meeting the week before our wedding and were told that unfortunately all of the Suites were booked and they would give us a King Executive room instead and made it to be something elaborate. I do quite a bit of traveling for work and stay at hotels several nights a week and know that a King executive room is a regular king room with a wooden desk to do computer work . We were absolutely upset about this and argued back and forth and still no proper response from the hotel management. The only answer we got was I apologize, we will decorate the king room nicely for you. With no solution, a few days before our wedding we decide to take this room. On day of checkin I went to the room and saw there was no decoration and or nothing has been done to the room other than noticing the room smelled like cigarettes. Prior to leaving for the wedding, I have told the hotel staff to fulfill their promise with decoration and make this room special for us, the bride and groom. I was told yet again, my apologies I will make sure that when you get back from your wedding we will make it right. On our return, room appeared as we left it with no changes. It is truly upsetting. We have had many issues of not being able to get into the room on several occasions because the room keys didn't work and many complaints from our guests that they had not been able to get into their rooms as well. I have stood on the line 3 times that night to get new room keys made up and at one point there was nobody at the desk for 10 minutes to help at 3am. We are truly upset with the way things are run in this establishment. For all the bride and grooms please save yourself the headache for your wedding night and keep your guests away from this hotel. It is pretty obvious they will book you, promise you the world, take your money. But when it comes to providing that special room and making your wedding night memorable they missed the boat. This newly-renovated hotel was simple and delightful. Well-appointed rooms, speedy and free (wired) intarwebz access, comfy bed with a variety of pillows, newly-tiled/wallpapered bathrooms; everything was nice and clean. No mystery hairs in the shower, which is always a plus. The front desk staff is super-friendly and very helpful, and the housekeeping staff was also terrific. (I know that sounds silly, but seriously: Most of the time you never interact with the housekeeping staff. But as they arrived for work and walked through the hallways, they were extra-cheery.) The hot breakfast (!) is tasty and as quick as you need it to be. Decent coffee, even. The hotel bar is well-stocked with both booze and colorful locals: prepare to interact with the shore natives. This can be either desirable or annoying, depending on your perspective. :-) A nice little happy story: One morning the restaurant was closed, so the front desk clerk pre-ordered some diner-tastic breakfast sammiches from the neighboring Adelphi Diner. He then then went the extra mile by calling the cab dispatcher to ask them to pick the food up on the way to pick us up. How cool is that? And of course, the hotel picked up the tab. I was impressed. Also: They have a classic videogame cabinet with a ton of classic videogames on it-- very fun. (That was not me playing Phoenix at 12:30am, honest. I am a professional business person. Or something.)
