I highly recommend having a wedding anywhere but here. A waitress asked my sister to help bustle the bride's dress. We have no idea how do to that. Weird food and beverage rules - like the bar was closed after the cocktail hour and before dinner. The waiters and bartenders need a lesson in better customer service. This needs to come from management, to empower and encourage the employees. Then, they'll treat the guests better. The prime rib option was actually filet mignon (not complaining, but it was not as advertised). Overall, weird underwhelming and offensive experience. read more

Came for my cousins wedding. What's gorgeous venue! Loved the valet parking. Both guys were very pleasant and quick. Inside was just spectacular. The hospitality not the best. Definitely had a rude waitress. She announced the food options, rather yelled the options, and then in .0001 seconds goes ok now what do you to eat. Lol give us some time to decide we jusstt sat down. I would say the food was pretty good, especially the dinner. Get the beef and thank me later. The dessert bar was amazing as well! I wouldn't say the bartenders were good at making requested drinks. He substituted some bad alternatives to try to make me an old fashioned and it just tasted like a fireball drink lol. read more

We were here for the wedding celebration of our niece. She actually had to cancel twice due to the foreign virus. Who know where it came from? They were married last year in an intimate event but this was the celebration. Originally 180 were expected this party had about 80. Many late cancellations. The place is very nice although not in the most appealing of neighborhoods. It was set back a bit from the highway and bordered by trees on one side. Inside was very nice and smart. We were guests so I comment as such. Service was superb. We were met at the door by a concierge and escorted inside. Everyone was smiling and accommodating. The cocktail hour was excellent. Again service was excellent, both at the bar and multiple serving stations. The food was very good and we focused on the meat, fish and shellfish. There were tables and high tops all around very nice and not crowded. We then proceeded to the main event. Champagne, (it was Prosecco), was on offer with name tags and info regarding our place at the table. There was plenty of room in the dining room and the dance floor was great with plenty of room. We really like the DJ and danced our behinds off. Dinner was ok. My salmon was dry. I know some folks like their fish overcooked and dry not me. Short point - the food at the cocktail hour was much better. Service was excellent. Pauline our server was very attentive and accommodating and never forgot about our table. The dessert plan was really good. They had a long table set up outside the main dining room with just about everything you might want. Also, espresso was available I had one. We had a great time. Rating catering halls is always difficult, reason being the main thing is the food right? Many hosts choose the food based on what they or their guests like to eat and not necessarily what the catering hall specializes in. The Gramercy is beautiful, lovely tile and custom wood molding adorn the lobby. The main room if you will is a black and white motif with gorgeous black carpets. A lovely venue for a wedding or in this case sweet sixteen. The room is spacious with typical tables of ten with plenty of elbow room. The bar is top shelf with a great bartender on this evening who made an excellent cocktail. The party started with hand passed appetizers, unfortunately I felt like Larry David, it seemed like to servers were working the room and I really didn't get to try much at all. I did get a pig in the blanket, tribute to you Larry. The buffet was quickly setup in 4 areas, one for the sweet sixteen's hosts friends loaded with mashed potatoes, chicken fingers, sliders and French fries. Chicken fingers were good as were the waffle fries. Sliders were cooked too long. The next station has some Asian food, lo mein and fried rice specifically which my daughter said was great. Two meat Selections, steak and pork....both overcooked and neither sauce could save it. The next station had linguine and clams in white sauce which according to my wife was good. I went with the shrimp scampi which was excellent as was the fried calamari. Unfortunately the baked clams weren't good, quite honestly they tasted like frozen baked clams from the supermarket, one of those thIngs you buy only once. The fresh crudités, grilled vegetables, hummus and cheese plates were very good. The dessert was a mixed bag, fresh cakes 7 layer to be specifIc were very good while the pastry so so. Coffee service was very good as was the service all evening. I think I if they tighten up a few of the food offerings the Gramercy can be a top notch catering hall venue. read more

Just attended a wedding here - everything was nice except I left my untouched dessert at my table while I went to dance.... By the time I came back to my table - my dessert was gone! There was still one whole hour left in the wedding. Why would they take away perfectly untouched dessert from a table without asking?! It made me so upset because I LOVE my dessert and was looking forward to it. It just felt like they were trying to clean the tables to they can get out of there.. not cool especially when people are paying thousands to host their wedding here. My husband and I got married on October 29, 2023! From the moment we went in to tour The Gramercy we knew we had found our venue! Victoria and Pauline were amazing and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Then we had our food tasting and everything was spectacular! Then comes the day of our wedding! I had ZERO STRESS that day! Victoria, Pauline and the crew took care of everything from start to finish. Unfortunately we had planned for our ceremony to be outside but it did rain and Victoria arranged the inside for the ceremony so perfectly. I had no plans for the ceremony to be inside but I had no fear because Victoria and her team were there! I truly felt like a princess that day and it was so magical. Pauline kept my husband and I fed and we always without a doubt had a new drink in our hands! Went here for a wedding tour. Talk about fake charm, awful wedding factory feel. Right away we were given a tour by a guy who had the charm of a sleezy used car or timeshare salesmen. Talking fast and trying to romanticize the unappealing. Most Fridays and Saturdays were booked for this cookie cutter place and the guy was relentlessly trying to push Sundays on us. Get over it no one wants that get over it! The place definitely was meant to appeal to new yorkers or people that live in the packed industrial area of northern New Jersey who rarely see trees and would be blown away by being married next to a man made lake. Went here a couple of weeks ago for an event. The decor is beautiful and they had it lit beautifully. But I wasn't happy with the food. The pasta was cold with hard peas and the salad wasn't good either and my roll was hard as a rock (I told the waiter and he just ignored that). The bar made good drinks but people cut infront of you by going to the different sides. The service was decent but nothing above par. It's a big place also so don't let the outside fool you. The staff isn't very pleasant and at time very rude. The bartenders (there were two of them - an man and a woman) don't care about anything. Glasses are dirty and sticky. Their response? "I'm not the one who washed them." Some 16yo walked up and asked for a cocktail. Yes, he isn't allowed to get a alcoholic beverage at the bar but I'm sure his responsible mom sent him. But the bartender's answer at that point wasn't surprising to me either: "What the hell is a cocktail?" The kid walked away. I asked other guests and every single one of them mentioned the two bartenders. In the beginning the staff sent everyone to the back of the cocktail room. Then they came and asked why all the people are there and sent everyone to the front. Apparently the food they brought out wasn't ready to be eaten. Don't know why. The food, btw, was good. I have attended several fundraisers here. The cocktail hour is really excellent. Passed food and the large cold buffet were nicely presented. The bartenders were friendly and fast. Dinner is a weak spot. The salad was good, the roll was very good. The chicken was prepared with red peppers which every single person at our table picked out. The organizer chose poorly with this dish. Trying to get our water pitchers refilled was basically impossible. We managed one refill but nothing after that. We asked for a cup of coffee for someone who wasn't at the table- the server wandered away and came back 20 minutes later despite having a pot of coffee in her hand when asked. Dessert was a tray of mini pastries which were good. The venue is pretty and well kept. read more

This review is long overdue! My husband and I got married on 11/14/21 and had our reception at the Gramercy. From start to finish our experience was exceptional. Victoria was our coordinator and we couldn't have asked for anyone better. She was patient with us and flexible with the changes that we made through out the planning process which really helped relieve some of the pressure we felt with planning a wedding in only five months. The actual reception went so smoothly and the team there worked like a well oiled machine. My bridal attendant Paulina was a little spitfire who was so awesome and attentive to us both. She made sure we got a chance to eat something before the guests were seated because often times the bride and groom don't get a chance to eat at the reception once things get started. Our guests were very happy with the food and were especially impressed with the Venetian hour. First off, the place is stunning. It is absolutely modern and breathtaking. The dancefloor is not big which is perfect for 100 guests. Syed, the manager, is amazing. He is so absolutely pleasant to deal with. He is super sweet and accommodates your needs to the fullest. I recommend this place to everyone. They truly got to know us as a couple and even when they didn't have to, they went above and beyond to treat us like family.. from only two interactions. I would give 0 stars if possible. Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. My husband and I booked in the summer of 2018 for a June 2020 wedding. We unfortunately encountered the COVID pandemic wedding dilemma. There is no pandemic clause of the contract so the venue got away with stealing our $7000 deposit. We made 2 payments of $3500 to hold our date and got NO WEDDING. When in correspondence with Dean and the rest of the staff, they cancelled our June 20th 2020 wedding due to the lock down. Which we understood. So we took them up on their next best date of August 28th 2020. EVERY OTHER VENUE IN NJ was hosting outdoor dining options with limited guests (around 50) which we wanted to do and we were told that "The gramercy is not offering outdoor dining". We have been engaged for over 2 years at this point and did not want to wait any longer to be married. Thank God because I had gotten pregnant shortly after. It is such a disgrace to not even offer half of our deposit back. I would be happy if they said " take $3500 and I'll take $3500" because i understand it's a business but every single vendor and venue I spoke to were completely shocked that they would not save face and keep a good relationship. Offering us a 2021 wedding was not an option being that every other venue offered us outdoor dining and within only 2 weeks before the re scheduled date, they cancelled on us yet again. So we were thankfully able to get married at Doolans Shore Club in Spring Lake who offered us the wedding of a lifetime for our Covid approved 50 guests per the state. I wish someone would reach out to make things right but they walked away with our $7000 and we got absolutley not a crumb in return. Nothing. Please do not sign a contact without looking to see how they handle pandemic situations. I wish I would have known in 2018 but who would have thought? read more

Dean is by far the best and goes above and beyond to ensure you have every and anything your heart desires for your special day. We had our wedding pretty much fully planned for 11/20/20 before the pandemic hit, so the months leading up to our planned wedding date was stressful to say the least. Dean was in constant communication with us, keeping us updated on the latest rules and answering any questions we had. I heard some horror stories regarding the lack of communication from other venues in the tri-state area so we felt truly blessed to be able to work with someone like Dean! On the day of our wedding everything went smoothly; everyone at the Gramercy (especially the bridal attendant Pauline) really do go above and beyond to make sure you don't have to worry about a thing. On top of the amazing staff, the food was out of this world! Our guests still talk about how amazing the food was and by far the best they have ever had at a wedding. I knew the dessert set-up was going to be something special, but special is an understatement. Not just them; from the food, the happy hour, the space, the attention to detail... everything went off without a hitch. Paulina, our maître d' was everywhere. Should you need anything she was there. I was looking for her gold lamp because there was no way of explaining her abilities other than her being a Genie. Dean, no matter how busy he was he would always get back to you. When I first started planning my wedding, Dean was extraordinary. He is amazing to work with and answered any of my questions almost immediately. He made the entire process effortless, constantly reminding me that they will be there to take care of everything! Pauline the bridal attendant was phenomenal. I felt like royalty the entire night. Not only did she take care of me, but she took care of my parents and the parents of the groom. I always had a drink in my hand, and she was there waiting on me and helping me with anything I needed!! She really took the pressure of the day away! Now onto the food! Amazingggg!! What they include for the cocktail hour is the most I have ever seen! Anything you could imagine is there, you really don't need to upgrade, but they do have options to do so. We had my daughter's "reception" at the Gramercy at Lakeside Mano in Hazlet. Although the location, at first, was not "perfect" the second we walked inside and met Dean Kakounis, we knew the place was perfection! Coincidentally, the location of the Gramercy was perfect for all our out of town guests, very easy to find right off two major roadways. This inside is gorgeous with white marble floors, a spiral staircase, a fireplace, and the stunning main ballroom. Dean was a total pleasure to work with. He helped us through every stage of the event. He was amazingly receptive to any and all ideas, offered his full support and counsel, and made the entire nerve-wracking process of hosting a large event easy. He responded immediately to every single email that was send, always answering the questions in full detail but also usually offering additional suggestions. The staff the Gramercy was also outstanding. There were wait staff everywhere- so many it was incredulous. The main hostess was attentive to our every need- and kept us abreast of the timing of events, assuring everyone was having a great time. The abundance of food was presented beautifully. We had a cocktail style reception and there was so much well prepared food. The lobster mac and cheese, carved lamb, paella, raw bar, mashed potatoes bar, and so so much more were amazing. People ate in abundance! Then came the desserts, cakes, pastries, freshly made waffles, ice cream cones, shakes, ice cream and also espresso and cappuccino with liquors.
