I had an encounter in this store this morning that was completely unacceptable and I will not be returning. I was in the self checkout lane, scanned my groceries and selected the pay now option which I have done hundreds of times. I then tapped my card and was directed on the screen to "please wait" and then began that dreaded "circle of death". I waited several minutes and then thinking the "pay now" button didn't work I pressed it again, and again and again - at least three times. Look folks, this was an EASY fix. When I called for help the guy snapped at me while pressing the "pay now" option that all I had to do was "press the button". I tried to explain that I had already done that several times but it didn't work which is why I called him over for help. He snapped again arguing with me that I couldn't have pressed the button and that's all I needed to do. Why did this matter? Why are you ARGUING with a customer? Why are you trying to make me look and feel stupid when that is NOT necessary! He continued arguing with me and me repeatedly saying "I DID press the button it didn't work I called you for help not to get yelled at why are you arguing with me?" This was COMPLETELY unnecessary. I did speak with the manager who said he would address it, but this situation was completely avoidable and completely unnecessary. Be kind people, and when someone asks for help just help them don't make a big deal out of it. Customer lost now for good!

This is the…read morekind of grocery store where you can find everything you need, from name brands to off brands, and you can get a full load of relatively quality groceries at a good price. We stopped in to boy some dinner and snack supplies before heading out on to Shasta Lake. What we discovered was a giant store with aisles and aisles of goodies. Getting the best of any particular offering requires some discretion. I would avoid some of the bargain meats and off-brands, for example, but they have surprisingly good produce and a massive selection of dry goods. Keep it up FoodMaxx. From your jingle to your shopping experience, you're continuing to offer something most other grocery chains do not.

There are two grocery stores in Hayfork. Wiley's is in the middle of town, tucked behind the fire…read moredepartment. Hayfork Discount is in the "Frontier Village", which is a strip of buildings on the northern end of town that look mostly abandoned. (The mill closed about 15 years ago). Hayfork Discount is anchoring the busy end of the village strip..... next to the laundromat and Roping Rhonda's bar. [Oh, yeah, there are also two bars in Hayfork....] Hayfork Discount is pretty much equivalent with Wiley's. Wiley's has a few different frozen food and fresh meat choices; Hayfork Discount tends to have a little bit cheaper prices on dairy products. HD also has hard alcohol, whereas I believe Wiley's is beer-and-wine. Prices are high in Hayfork -- raising transportation costs really hit this town hard. The cashiers are friendly.

They're really big on their NOSH [Natural, Organic, Specialty, Healthy] selection, and advertise this all over the store! Honestly, the most impressed I've ever been with a discount supermarket. I think other reviews say it hasn't been open for more than a year - I hope it stays like this, because it would be amazing if more healthy options were available at more affordable prices. I am just visiting in town and this was the closest grocery store - a pleasant surprise to be able to fill up my cart here with a vegetarian lifestyle in mind (and according to my receipt I saved $70! Yowza!). (I walked, but I will say the parking lot does seem a bit tight - just be mindful getting around!)

Well not so at Grocery outlet, while I was in line I was watching the 2 Grocery outlet employees/checkers chatting at a closed register at 10:25 am on a Sunday with one lady holding the OPEN light switch and I asked if they would open. Well my bad, all three snapped back and got snooty and said shift change! Crazy time for a shift change when they open at 9 am. This used to be a friendly place and always has 2 registers open. I guess things change. I'll just enjoy the line next time..
