It's a very large practice. Pretty efficient and organized, just feels big and like you're a number. I saw the Nurse Prac the majority of the time which given my complicated health issues might not have been the best choice. She was friendly and nice and well educated, just not sure I received the very best of the best care I could have chosen if maybe I had gone to a smaller practice perhaps. I scheduled with Holiner Group specifically to see a psychiatrist, not a nurse practitioner. I confirmed this multiple times before completing a long, detailed intake process. At scheduling, I was told the first visit would include both a psychiatrist and a nurse practitioner, with follow-ups handled by the doctor. On the day of the appointment, the confirmation showed only a nurse practitioner. I called to verify and was reassured again that both would be present. That was not accurate. The session was only with the nurse practitioner. She was professional and kind, but confirmed the psychiatrist would only briefly join at the end and that ongoing care would be with her. This directly contradicted everything I had been told. Afterward, the office changed the explanation again, saying the first visit is with a nurse practitioner and seeing a psychiatrist later is only "if possible." This is a clear lack of transparency. Patients rely on accurate information to plan their time and care. This experience was misleading and a significant waste of time. Would not recommend. read more

I've been coming here for about 10 years for my anxiety and depression medication. I also have several other psychiatric diagnoses. I've dealt with two different nurse practitioner Kelli Westmoreland, Dr. Freele, and Dr. Holiner. I had TMS here, as well, so I have spent a lot of time in the office. Always 100% professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They've listened to me cry and celebrated my victories with me. My Psychiatrist at Holiner Psychiatric Group is the most professional and congenial doctor I have every had. His professional manner and listening skills are just right for me. He helps relax me with his kind mannerisms and is always cheerful with a smile on his face. He knows me better than my own family. Within 3 minutes or less he can tell exactly if I am not thinking right because of too much anxiety, which makes me moody, cranky and feeling out of sorts. read more

The PA, after working with my son for years, changed his medication with no reason given, to a newer med even though he had been stable for a number of years. On the new med, Caplyta, he lost 70lbs in 6 weeks, developed ticks and body movements so extreme he looked like Michael J Fox (God bless MJF!) on a bad Parkinson's day and began having delusions again after over 10yrs without them. The people running their office and prescription management are incompetent to say the least. I have rarely had a prescription submitted without an error. The website is always down and their prescription voicemail is full? how does that happen? No website, no voicemail, i call and speak with someone, they assure me they will sort it out. Prescription get sent and pharmacy tells me that they didnt include enough detail as to the dosage so they cant give it to me. You had one Job! I call Holiner Group back and get placed on hold for 13 minutes, I hang up and call back and am told they are working through a new system. (which i have been hearing for months). still on hold for an additional 14 minutes, for a total of almost a half hour so far. I'm moving my care to the VA, as they are shockingly better than this place. And that is saying a LOT! read more

More harm than good for sure... We tried to talk w/ someone as a result of his reaction to the meds, and nothing.... no return calls, not email responses....NOTHING.... Think they are more interested in getting their payouts from their Pharma partners than actual patient care- Sad... What ever happened to "do no harm"... The office staff is EXTREMELY RUDE!! The speak so fast that you can not understand anything they say and you have to ask them to repeat everything. They put you on indefinite hold each call so you wait 15 minutes to be connected. After a very unfortunate (and traumatic) year in this practice, I am proud to say that I am now balanced, vibrant, and thankful for a second shot at life with the help of ANOTHER practice. This practice is, at best, a "pill mill". The Holiner name makes me shudder from PTSD. In addition to Joel Holiner himself, I also saw Dr Freele, whose recommendation for ECT (which caused amnesia and lots of emotional trauma) was barbaric at best. Please try to find another psychiatrist. I have wasted so much time and frustration on trying to get them to answer or trying to get a refill on my one medication. Every time it is a hassle. The main Doctor and the women I talk to named Grace on check up are very nice and helpful. But the receptionists and the organization of how the office is run is beyond frustrating. They will straight up ignore time sensitive requests, emails and phone calls so I eventually just gave up and stopped working them. Make sure to look at their Google reviews too. I have never really had an easy experience with this group. From limited appointment slots (and an office staff who doesn't seem to care or try to help with scheduling) to this new computer system they've implemented. They implemented a new system a couple of weeks ago and it's VERY clear that they did not take the change of systems very seriously as everyone I've spoken with so far has made it clear that the system isn't working right and that haven't been properly trained. Due to the new system, I had one appointment cancelled without my knowledge and had a prescription just disappear right after it was written. I spent over 2 days trying to get the situation straightened out and it seems like no one in their offices really cares that this issue that is NOT my fault has made caused me to lose HOURS worth of my time (not to mention the headache of having to reschedule or cancel meetings while I continue to wait on what feels like nothing progress at all). I do NIT recommend anyone use this group - save yourself the headache. I'll be switching ASAP! read more

They are very difficult to get ahold of and get a response from. It usually takes me 3-4 calls and messages to get help with prescription refills and prior authorizations. They don't allow voicemails to be left so you have to call (1) during office hours and (2) while someone is available. After providing my new insurance information to the office twice over the phone, the day of my first appointment since my insurance change came and they informed me that my insurance STILL wasn't in the system so I had to pay the full out of pocket cost and they will give me a credit afterward, which is definitely not ideal but I had no choice as I was already running low on my medication. I went to pick up my prescription two days ago and I was told I needed a prior authorization so the pharmacy sent them paperwork and I called them as well. Radio silence. I tried to pick up my prescription again today but prior auth still hasn't been fulfilled. I called them AGAIN and they returned my call an hour later - I missed the call by minutes, but no one answered when I called back. The voicemail said they need to verify my insurance before submitting the prior authorization. This is now the fourth time in about a week that they have asked for this information!! Funnily enough I am being treated for ADHD here and they are a nightmare to deal with when they make you call and follow up so many times during very, very specific hours. It's a shame because I really like my NP, but the office is so unresponsive I'm going to have to find somewhere else. Update: I called back first thing this morning to confirm my insurance and get my medication as soon as possible, but was told that my prior authorization is not going to be able to completed until Tuesday of next week (it is currently Friday morning) and that there is no one working in the office except for receptionists until then. Needless to say I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed at how poorly these matters get handled, I feel like at this point I have no choice but to start over with a different psychiatric group. I would advise against using this group based solely on the admin, unfortunately. If you do decide to use them please be aware that you need to request refills at least several weeks before you run out. read more

This place just does not care about their patients. I have been going to them for 7 years but will discontinue ASAP and it is long overdue. Multiple times in these years I have submitted a refill for a prescription and it wasn't sent in by Dr. Holiner despite my submission for the refill being more than 48 hours old and the office closing at noon on a Friday , thusly leaving me through a weekend without medication. And these are medications that have definite effects if you do not take them consistently, yet they shut down by noon on Friday for the weekend after I have submitted a refill on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning. I've seen doctor Freele for the past 8 years. He's been nothing short of a miracle worker for my bipolar 1 disorder. Before him, I was unable to find the right combination of medication with many other psych docs. He is really great at listening and quickly treating any sort of issues. He's definitely more "intense" but genuinely cares about his patients. Freele is also really on top of any sort of emergency calls or questions I might have regarding my symptoms within office hours. Dr Freele has also filled out tons of paperwork for me in regards to my drivers license and insurance. I can honestly say that I don't have any complaints. I feel as though Holiner Group works as a team! I absolutely adore the ladies that answer the phones. I feel as though they give me the time of day and have always been super great. They've always relayed my messages to the right people and have gone above and beyond for me if I need help with getting ahold of people there. As a bipolar person, medication is a huge part of my treatment. I've never had any sort of problem getting my prescribed meds which had been a huge relief. Holiner group goes above and beyond. They have always exceeded my expectations. I've seen 5 previous psychiatrists and have always had issues with find, getting, and being prescribed the right meds. I 10/10 recommend. read more

The billing is now all done by 3rd-party, and the rates they charge keep changing. I've been trying to get a callback or information regarding fees for months now and all the office says is "the billing is 3rd party so it's out of our control"... but yet they still want the money. read more

FRAUD!.. JUST LIKE THE REST OF PSYCHIATRISTS. Instead of giving you guidance on how to deal with your problems they give you drugs to get hooked on to keep the revolving door of patient/"care-giver" constantly going round and round. They close on Friday at noon here in Dallas and they're closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so if you run out of medicine during that time, you're FORCED TO SUFFER until Monday, when you can HOPEFULLY schedule an appointment for Tuesday or Wednesday if you're lucky. If doesn't matter if you're legally able to get you're medicine because you've passed the 1 month mark since your last refill date. They don't just make it seem impossible, but seem to make it a point to make sure you're not able to get the "treatment" that they prescribe for you. And if all of that is not enough to convince you of the fraud here just go on to the website and look at how much they promote the pandemic of Covid-19. In one week I was able to study virology and clearly see that what they consider to be a virus is nothing but the cytopathic effect and this smart guy can't figure this b******* out on his own? In the staff is horrible and couldn't be more desensitized to an individual personal pain and suffering if they tried to be . This is a review about their billing practices. I have been trying to talk to the office manager Jennifer for 2 months now about the extra billing charges. They bill at the time of service then come back 3 months later to bill for charges that didn't happen. The 2nd charge was for 30-45 min visit when the PA spent less then 15 mins on the phone with my son. This all started in 2024 because this was not an issue in 2023. We switched PA's because you do not get to speak with the Doctors. No one has yet to answer my questions about the billing. I was able to get more answers from BCBS than the billing department or office manager. I was told a lot of others are having this same issue, I am just wanting to understand why we were charged an extra 350.00 for services no rendered. What if a person does not have an advocate to speak for them like my son does, do they just get taken advantage of? This makes me so sad and angry. read more

When I first came here I used to see Aaron he was the best, he stopped working there so I started seeming shamika and she's amazing as well great listener. The owner of the practice I've seen as well he's super nice, friendly guy, talked about he kids, didn't act like he was rushing my appt. But man oh man Megan, so I had to see her since shamika was booked last minute. My god she definitely needs a Xanax script with a side of a joint. I told her I needed to up my prescription to what it used to be 3 months prior, and she said "as long as I promise not to sell them" girl what? Megan chill out think about what u say and to whom, and there isn't a book in this world that could teach you how to be more personable. Your like the girl in the work meeting that has 20 questions before it even start. She was a no for me but everyone else there I've ever dealt with was amazing. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews here. Yes, I only met the actual psychologist himself once, but I LOVE the PA I see, Aaron. He is amazing, I can relate to him so much, I always feel like he actually listens to me and my concerns and does not dismiss them. I tell everybody about how great he is. This is not a place for therapy, I go to a great therapist for that.. but this is where I go for anxiety medication and I have been very happy with everything. I have recommended this place to a friend as well and she is also very happy with her experience. I personally like the fact the appointments are quick. I don't feel rushed, but I don't feel like I'm stuck there for hours when I have other stuff to do! Remember when reading reviews, especially when it is mental health - that people are very passionate about their negative experiences. This is a busy, and active office with I would guess, thousands of patients among the various doctors. So, a few bad reviews doesn't really indicate the whole story. Many people won't go around admitting they are on anxiety or depression medication, so if that was more socially acceptable, you'd probably see more good reviews! read more

I have been going to Holiner Group since 2012. Over the years, I have loved so much each of the PA's I've seen under Dr Freele, though I do not care for him personally and I'm grateful I don't have to see him. I really appreciate the in and out service they provide. I suppose if you're looking for something more than having your script refilled or tweaked as needed, this might not be the greatest fit for your needs. However, if you go to work every day and it's an inconvenience to have to go in person to get refills every 3 months this place is great! I'm not sure what happened with Ciara from the other reviewer believe.. perhaps she had an off day or something but she's wonderful! I had an issue with my insurance where I was not getting my meds authorized and she spent a significant amount of time working on making sure the absurd request from the insurance was completed properly. She even worked on it after hours. I think it's important for people to remember that we're all human and some days are just rough.. just because someone works in CS doesn't mean they're perfect and we need to have some grace sometimes.. I've had some billing issues due to my forgetfulness being penalized (no show fees) but I understand that they have a structured way of running their business and those fees were assessed to me according to their policy. Overall, I highly recommend this place for people who have to have meds prescribed who don't want to spend a lot of time waiting in a doctors office going through the motions every 3 months. read more

This office has great doctors. However be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes past your appointment time. They are never on schedule! Other than that, most insurances are accepted, including Medicade. And it usually takes a couple of days to get an appointment. Once you have one, follow up appointments are easy to get into. read more

Wow I'm glad I didn't look at the other reviews before I came here, I don't know why the reviews are so terrible. Maybe it's a mismatch of expectations? I got a good recommendation from a friend who suffers from ADHD and depression and finally got some medication to help him get that diagnosis and relief. When I came here, my depression mainly caused by constant chronic pain was so severe I did not want to do anything. I went to a counselor at a completely different office and I came here. Both places gave me depression and anxiety diagnoses, independently, and Holiner group also gave me ADHD diagnoses. I never really met with Dr. Molina, but with his practitioners who are very knowledgeable and kind. They asked many questions and prescribed me medications to help me function better. All the natural stuff in the world didn't work for me before. No, they don't really do counseling. They check in with you and see what medications can help your mental chemistry. Definitely still seek counseling, there are many options in Dallas. This office is so calming. They play relaxing music and the decorations are low light, clean and inviting. The front receptionists are always SO nice. Usually when you have good quality doctors the staff are rude and mean because they're also so busy and have to handle emotional clients, but THESE STAFF are so friendly! You feel so welcomed and taken care of. I'd recommend Holiner group to anyone who has tried counseling and natural therapies but still has mental chemistry preventing them from living their lives.
