Ken Tomine is AMAZING!!! It hasn't been a week & my pain patch w/ needle is a miracle! My sprained wrist & bruised bone (right-leg) is feeling so much better already, in just a matter of three days. Several years ago, I was very sick & suffered for nine-months... I was in & out of emergency rooms & saw many doctors, trying all kinds of medicines, but nothing worked. I was miserable & desperate! Not only is he funny, gentle, and enjoyable to work with, but he is also extremely intelligent, thoughtful, and diligent about treatment planning, offering a comprehensive approach to wellness. I only have positive things to say about this fantastic health center. My family has been getting acupuncture and massage here for 25+ years and the quality of service and care could not be better. I've been seeing Ben and Ken consistently and Ben has been so helpful with my chronic back pain. Ken has incredible skills with facial acupuncture and I find that both my memory and my anxiety have improved. All practitioners are super thorough and detail oriented professionals. I love when they give me herbs for sleep, stress, or anything in between they are consistently effective. Their treatments have made my period cramps LITERALLY disappear. Where do I begin to describe the healing that goes on at this place? I truly thank the heavens for Holistic Health Center and its staff! I have a herniated disc in the middle of my back. Sometimes it gives me trouble, especially when I've done something stupid. Like try to move a piece of furniture, which I did last summer. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Even my talented physical therapist, Tim at NovaCare, couldn't totally help me with the latest painful episode, which lasted almost 3 months. It was pure hell. Finally I decided to go to "Dr" Minami at Holistic Health Center. I'd seen him on and off over the years. But acupuncture isn't covered by my medical insurance, so although he usually helps me, I try other "covered" methods first, such as physical therapy or seeing my orthopedist. Anyway, like I said, I was in a world of hurt and it wasn't getting better. Hideshiro Minami ("Hide" for short) is an extremely talented acupuncturist. He is a 4th generation acupuncturist, and his mother is a quite famous acupuncturist in Japan. Hide said that first of all my muscles were too tight. He did a little acupuncture but then had his massage specialist give me a series of specific acupuressure massages. Oh god were they painful, but they really made a world of difference. Between the 3 massage appointments and the 4 acupuncture treatments, my pain was totally gone within two weeks. TOTALLY GONE. And I had been on some really serious strong prescription anti-inflammatories/pain killers. After the acupuncture, I didn't need any more pills. It was like a miracle. I had been in pain for so many months -- I wished I'd gone to Holistic Health Center first. The total of all the vists cost me something like $600 totally out of my pocket, but it was worth every freaking cent. The staff here is very professional and the setting is very relaxing. The place is very clean and sanitary. And believe me, they all really really know what they're doing. If you're looking for a good acupuncturist, look no further. In addition, Holistic Health Center offers massage and there is a Naturopath on staff as well. They have two locations, one in Menlo Park and one on the border of San Mateo/Burlingame. The staff alternates days between the two locations, so you can go to either or both. read more

I've had a few sessons with Juliet Tatsumi, L.Ac, and I think she's fantastic. I'm seeing her for a host of health issues and she has prioritized them with my overall well-being being the most important in mind. She has many neat gadgets used inconjunction with traditional accupunture which makes her treatments very effective. I'm sure I make Hellraiser look like a joke by the time Juliet's done with me. I'm terribly frightened of needles. So to make my sessions more enjoyable, Juliet will always put a needle on the top of my head, which knocks me out immediately for the next 40 minutes, or until I wake myself up with my snoring. The facility is pleasant but incredibly overpriced. The owner, Hide, likes to surf and do martial arts, and only sees you when you make an appointment well in advance. For backup, there is a female acupuncturist with little experience who is more interested in money than you or your condition. Very cold personality. I was open-minded and hopeful but somewhat skeptical when I first walked in to the Holistic Health Center in Menlo Park. I had never seen a holistic practioner before and did not know what to expect. I also recently have had some very bad experiences with some medical practitioners. After meeting Dr. Andreas Sijbrandt, any concerns I had were quickly dispelled. Dr. Sijbrandt is not only extremely knowledgeable and capable, but he also clearly does this work out of a strong and sincere desire to help others. This review is for Shelley. She has been instrumental in my healing process. When I began seeing her, I was new to acupuncture and skeptical. I was also quite desperate for pain relief and willing to try something new. Acupuncture appealed to me because it didn't require putting prescription pain killers in my body. I was tired of trying pain medicines and had very little relief from them. They made me sick and I was worried about dependency. It took some time and work on my part to be patient and relax, but Shelly helped me with that and over time the relief I had from treatments with her began to grow. Initially the relief was temporary but that was significant to me because I couldn't find temporary relief anywhere else. When my injury was acute, sleeping was incredibly difficult. After a session with Shelley, I was able to relax and sleep. With time the amount of rest I could sustain grew. Her treatments continue to be something I look forward to and benefit from. She also accepted my health insurance which was a huge bonus for me. I know my insurance company wasn't easy for her to deal with, but she never let that come between us and was always genuinely interested in helping me recover. I'm very grateful that I found her and highly recommend to anyone looking for pain relief and sleep help. Ken is amazing!!! I spent $3k on another accupuncturist in Palo Alto and that experience was terrible. I couldn't communicate with the guy and he did the same thing each visit for 4 months. It was like torture since each needle going in felt like a shock. Ken on the other hand spent time with me to uncover what my issues are and each visit is like a spa treatment. I originally went in with fertility issues and even though my issues are well beyond his control and cannot be changed, I continue to see him for general well being (and of course hanging on to hope).. His treatments vary each time. First he asks me how I am and then he modifies the treatment based on whatever issues are currently going on. He really cares about each person he sees and with me, when I'm down about my situation he always tries to keep my spirits up and reinforce the positive energy. I HIGHLY recommend him. Been going to Eric Wu for acupuncture since 2007 or 2008, initially for RSD from a foot injury. Conventional meds didn't get rid of the pain and physical therapy worked to some extent, but relief from acupuncture treatment was within a few treatments and pain free within a few months. I still go an average of 6~12 times per year for other aches and pains not related to the initial problem.
