I have been going to this physical therapy office for a few weeks. The approach is much different than your typical physical therapist and you need to come with an open mind. Nachum evaluates the patient in a holistic way and then works on alleviating the problem with a broader solution. For example, I went to him after treatment for a torn plantar fascia. My feet, back, and all of me felt horrible for nearly 4 years. I had been to several doctors to help with the pain. Finally the podiatrist identified the tear and 3 weeks in a boot followed. On her suggestion I visited a physical therapist. I will admit Nachum's initial review of my medical history and current issues was a little rough. He asked several questions and needed clear, concise answers - no extra fluff stories- yes or no! A little off-putting, but now I totally see the necessity. He really tries to narrow in on the source of your pain so he can create an appropriate treatment plan. Know your injury! Think about exactly when and where it hurts, the type of pain, and any other things happening in your body. Being prepared will make the process easier. Let him diagnose, just give him the facts. Nachum Loss ( Only PT at this facility) truly KNOWS what he's doing and I could not stress it enough. As any other patient, my main goal was to feel "pain free" and learn what was really causing such discomfort at the end of the treatment. In my case, I would constantly get the worst headaches to the point I could not stand any light at all and would get really nauseous. I was always told before that it was just a migraine, therefore, I actually believed that I suffer from migraines. One day I just couldn't take the pain anymore because it would always go down to my neck, but I thought it was just the headaches that would cause a lot of pain in the neck area. So one day I just decided to make an appointment at his office and after literally only three treatments I have never experienced those types of headaches ever again!. Keep in my mind you have to listen to all the stretches he recommends you to do and work as a team. He kindly explained to me why the headaches and the cause of it; which had to do with my neck. October 2012. Weakness. Numbness in arms, shoulders, and neck. Pain in the shoulder, neck, and arms muscles. Every hand movement made pain in the neck. Low back pain, weakness and numbness in the right leg. Difficulty to cook, to drive a car, and to take care of my family. That was my condition (I believe mostly created by previous PT) at first visit to Nachum Loss at Holistic Manual Physical Therapy. From very beginning I noticed he is not an ordinary PT. Each visit was different. He tried to understand the problem and find a better way to help me. He taught how to use heat and cold, what to do, how to do, how not to overdo. He provided exercises for home which really helped me. After 4 weeks I got stronger, I could lift a teakettle. I started to return back to normal, but still relying on family's support. Saved me on having to undergo surgery! I can't thank Nachum Loss and Holistic Manual Physical Therapy enough. I suffered from severe sciatica pain due to a herniated disc. The orthopedic doctor I consulted looked at my MRI and told me the herniation was so severe that nothing but back surgery could resolve the pain. I could neither stand, nor sit, nor walk. He didn't believe either physical therapy or steroid lumber injections would help in my case. Desperate I tried going to two chiropractors but got no relief. I then consulted another orthopedic doctor who recommended I get treated by a physical therapist who practices the Maitland technique. I was in severe pain....from my right hip, down my thigh, and into my knee. I went to see an orthopedic doctor and he suggested a cortisone shot. It did nothing. Dr. Loss is fantastic! He really has healing hands and anyone that is being told to get surgery for joint or bone issues or any issue for that matter , should definitely give Dr. Loss a try. Now , I have to be honest and say that I was totally a skeptic when I first saw him. So I was planning a 6 week cross country RV trip with my 2 kids. All excited about our adventure my son and I spent the night sleeping in the new RV. I have been experiencing pain in my lower back since the third pregnancy (3 years ago:).
