The massage therapist, Omnia from Spa Central, was wonderful. Omnia, asked me questions about my body, set the tone and asked for my input. They began with a simple grounding and then, the magical massage began. It in fact was a deep tissue massage. Their strong hands and massage points that they reached on my body had my chronic pain decrease, and melted my body like butter. All my knots, and problem areas were taken great care of. Before you book a massage class: Our group class was the last class of the day. Our instructor was a nice person but we left feeling like we didn't learn anything. The instructor gave us a sheet of paper of different pressure massage techniques. She demonstrated it once on one person, asked the whole class to repeat that for some time, and then just sat down and watched the clock. Repeat this multiple times for about an hour or so and that was the "class". Really felt like the money wasn't worth it for something we could have just looked up online or watched a YouTube video. I don't know about getting an actual massage but the class really was disappointing for now only us but for the whole group. read more

I have been going here for years, and I can't recommend enough. Lately they have reopened with a good set of hygiene precautions in place. I always leave relaxed from a good massage and i enjoy the chance to provide students with feedback as they train for this career. My husband and I always wanted to take a couples massage class. We saw a groupon for this place and decided to give it a try. This was one of the coolest dates/classes I have ever had! The class focused on ways to sustain giving a relaxing massage for long periods of time without getting tired. Our class had five couples and we each had our own table to practice on. The teacher starts the class with one person giving the massage and one receiving and then, in the second hour, you trade spots, so you both get to enjoy giving and receiving. Before this class, I could never massage my husband because he is so ticklish. The instructor gave me specific techniques to help massage without him bursting out in laughter. Before we arrived, I was worried about getting kicked out of the class for being too silly. We were once kicked out of a birthing class for getting the giggles when they made us try out breathing techniques. Luckily, this class wasn't overly new-age. We did get the giggles a few times, and the teacher was still very nice to us. read more

My girlfriend told me I give awful massages so found a groupon for a couples massage class. The place is a little tough to find. We showed up 15 minutes early and woman/instructor was just starting to set up. She frequently left the room even after the scheduled time. There were two other couples in the class with us. She started off by asking if the instructor came, which apparently she didn't do, so the owner led the class. She was knowledgable but not a great teacher. read more

This was the best massage I have ever had. It was very relaxing and so professional. The price is perfect. We had a couples 75 minute massage for $70.00 total. Update- HMTI did reach out to me and they have offered an apology for the negative experience as well as a voucher for services in the future. I am hopeful that my next experience is positive and will make an update. I am altering my rating based on their reaching-out and offering to extend me a better self-care opportunity. Sadly, I had a student that was so nervous that he was shaking. This student also told me he was touching my collar bone, but I corrected him and after referring to a diagram he confirmed that he had made a mistake. I asked for hi to stop when they tried to identify my solar plexus and were again incorrect and way too low. Anyone that comes to a student clinic should understand that this is an learning environment, but shaking hands and a lack of basic anatomy is problematic when you are giving a massage. I am choosing to believe that this student had no intent on harming me, but I cannot believe that a professional training this individual approved his working with the public. In entering, I was curious why I was asked to pay prior to service. Perhaps there have been others that spent less than 7 minutes in the room prior to ending a session. After exiting the massage room, I was offered the opportunity to have an instructor join us in the room while he continued the massage, but felt uncomfortable that this offer was made in front of the student and I was not able to state that based on his lack of knowledge regarding anatomy I was touched inappropriately twice (albeit by accident..I guess). Anyways, what I had hoped to be a relaxing excursion ended up being the most expensive 7 minute massage I have ever had, lol. This has certainly left a bad taste in my mouth about this school. I have experienced some really high quality massages from graduates of this institution and now I feel like I have just been blessed as opposed to high quality being the norm. My hope is that this student gains the confidence and gets the supportive nurturing that is needed to be successful as a holistic practitioner. read more

My oh my! I purchased a Groupon for a couples massage class through HMTI and it was fantastic. Our instructor was friendly and showed a distinct passion for the art of massage. The room was dimly lit, soft music was playing and it truly was relaxing. The class was 2 hours and each person gets a 1 hour massage. We learned a lot of compression techniques that my boyfriend and I will put to use at home. We are big fans of reflexology massages so maybe we'll come back for a more in depth class. I find this place a great combination of value-for-money and convenience. I have been going here since 2007. The hourly massage costs about $75 and I love that you can call on the day of and leave a message on the phone and someone will call you back and schedule a same-day massage. The other great thing is the student clinic, where you can get a daytime, weekday massage for $25 from massage therapy students! I had one not so skilled student and two fantastic ones, one of which I went to, for 7-8 sessions during her training. Given 4 stars, as ambience is as bleh as it can get and some therapists are best avoided( Eg Janine- weird bedside manner). read more

Finally had a chance to try out one of the student clinics at their new location and was very pleasantly surprised! I really wasn't sure what to expect with a cheaper student clinic, but this was definitely close enough to the experience I had at professional spas. There's certainly no cucumber water or a locker room with plush towels, but you get a private room with a real massage bed, clean sheets, a CD player playing the typical flowing-river music, and of course, a pretty decent massage. You get to give feedback in a survey at the end, so it's kind of nice in that you're helping the student become an even better masseuse who will likely be doing the $100+ massages somewhere else. For now, you can't beat $30-$40 (depending on weekday/weekend, time of day). I will certainly be back! read more

I actually haven't been here to receive a massage yet. Twice now I've made an appt and they've cancelled it. :/ the first time I booked online and they called later that day to say there weren't enough students scheduled for that time so had to cancel. It does say online that they try to update it as much as possible but sometimes the slots are already booked so I wasn't too upset and just made another appt for a few weeks later. I was supposed to have my appt at 8 pm tonight and received a call at 6:45 that my student had to cancel. Luckily I hadn't left the house yet. I'm still willing to give it another shot and will update my review in the future! read more

I've received some of the best therapeutic massages from the students here and would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for quality, affordable massages. Most recent was 7/24, deep tissue massage with hot towels. I came home and slept soundly for the first time in days, what a relief! Grateful for this service in our community. read more

The massage was nice but the owner was rude. When i arrived for my appointment I was told that I had to pay my balance before getting my massage because it was with a student; which was fine. So I gave the guy that was at the front my credit card and ID. They took my payment and returned my CC & ID. I got my massage at my scheduled time everything was ok. Maybe about 30mins after I left i received a call from the owner saying that I left without paying my balance. I told her that I paid it when I first arrived due to me saying I was told to. She said "nobody took your payment." I went on to explain to her what I was told when I arrived and what happened. She then said "nobody took your payment. No payment was processed for you." I again explained to her what happened. She then said "some of the staff are new. You still have a balance of $27.50." While I gave her my card number I was attempting to ask if I was doubt charged could I contact her but she cut me off and said "no payment was processed." After being rudely interrupted I asked my question again. With that being said, a mistake was made with the payment and "new staff" and the owner could have handled the situation a lot better instead of being rude to me. UPDATE: I have since been in contact with a representative from this company who apologized for my encounter. A suitable accommodation is in process. I will submit another review after my next visit. read more

I am currently attending this school as a full time student and I fall in love with this place every day I walk into the door. The curriculum is solid and informative. In addition, i feel supported enough to learn to be a compassionate, effective therapist. The instructors are solid professional Massage Therapists in the top of their fields, but they also bring great wisdom from the various modalities they practice. In addition to Massage, I have learned so much about energy work, working with special populations (elderly, disabled, pregnant), business structure and so much more. They allow me to bring my own experiences to the table and support me to be a great massage therapist. I love this place! read more
