I worked in the medical field for years, and had already tried physical therapy twice, shots and medication (which I discovered I was allergic to). Physical therapy has helped to some extent, but nothing has totally alleviated the pain, and I've just gotten used to it. Teresa mentioned shoulder pain one week while giving her presentation and it caught my attention. Alternative or holistic medicine is often viewed as voodoo by the conventional health care system, but I have always tried to keep an open mind. I really didn't have anything to lose. So, I called that day and scheduled an appointment for the following day. I went in for my appointment and Teresa did her magic. I say magic, because I can't really explain what she did. What I can tell you is that it worked. I had a little tingling when I left her office. And the following morning, for the first time in years, I woke up with no pain and normal range of motion in my shoulder. It is really skill and expertise, but it feels like magic. Teresa explained that with time and more treatment, the inflammation that causes the pain will decrease more and more. I look forward to going back.

There are also lots of other interesting things in the store as well. Though I wouldn't shop here if it weren't for the supplies I need as a Chinese medicine student. They also won't sell needles to the general public, which I like. You can, however, buy whatever herbs you like, but you should always have either Chinese medicine training or have a prescription from someone who does, because otherwise you won't know what you're doing. You can't just pick an herbal formula labeled simply for "stress" like you can in Western medicine. It doesn't work like that. I've never received any treatments from interns so I can't vouch for that, but I hear they're awesome. Their staff is very friendly and know me and my friends by name because we frequent there so much. :o) Plus! Every day they have a deal going on. I know Monday their herbs are 10-15% off, but I can't remember what the other days are.

I got some really cool stone carved elephants on the cheap, and a neat wood happy Buddha. They have some good flavors of Dagoba bars that I can't find elsewhere (chai) and sometimes some cool zenish clothes. I also like the one on Anderson for post Korea-house sushi shopping. I know they have all kinds of herbal medicine but I have not delved as of yet.

The atmosphere is far more comfortable than clinical, and Sara is a wonderful administrative coordinator. I've undergone both an ankle/heel surgery and bicep tendon rupture repair, and rather than the standard "pop pills and wait it out" path, I've done herbal remedies, body detoxification and multiple treatments on both fronts. My injuries have shown major progress and I have seen incredible success without having to dope up or endure the same levels of consistent pain and immobillity. My PT and doctor both feel this line of treatment is doing wonders; couple it with the stress relief and body cleansing that I enjoy, this is easily one of the best damn things I can do for myself. It works. IT WORKS. Please come see them and find out for yourself, y'all.
