My first time In this office. It was clean and peaceful. Dr Wang listened carefully to my concerns. I came in for sleep issues and a post rotator cuff surgery muscle release. He treated me on both sides. Half hour on front then I sat in a chair because of concern of laying on my belly with the rotator cuff issue. He applied needles to the back of ny head both sides by upper neck. After treatment he gave me a herb for sleep. Five minutes after I got back in my car I felt a complete release of my lat that was pulling on the shoulder which was incredible. I took the sleep herb and got 44 minutes of deep sleep that night. I first saw Dr. Guoen Wang when I was diagnosed with Occipital Neuralgia. For almost five months I had chronic pain near my ear and neck. The pain caused severe tension headaches. I saw several doctors. Treatments consisted of antibiotics, a steroid pack, Catscan, MRI, two painful nerve blocks and finally a prescription that gave me side effects (ringing in my ears and memory problems). Dr. Wang cured my heartburn. There isn't much to say about that other than no other medication I tried worked for any significant period of time, no diet worked, and no other doctor had any other solutions other than to take medications that either mess up your digestion or give you osteoporosis (and don't actually cure the heartburn). Hip Replacement I was having some chronic pain in my right hip. Being out of the country at the time made it easier to deal with part of the problem. I could go to a radiologist without an appointment and without doctor's orders and get an X-Ray, which I did. The radiologist wrote a summary and said that there was a deterioration of the cushion between the leg and the socket in the pelvis. He gave me the X-Ray and it looked like bone on bone. He recommended a doctor I should see about it which happened to be the same surgeon who had put a plate in my wife's broken wrist. I went to the doctor and she took one look at the X-Ray and asked when I would like to schedule the surgery for the hip replacement. I told her I would need to think about it and asked how long before it would be absolutely necessary to which she said "until you can't walk or the pain is too much." That was when I said, "when I get back to the States I am going to Dr. Wang." I did and he said, "you don't need surgery, you need to get your health restored." I have never experience such a random rash breakout that was extremely itchy and discomforting. I would take over the counter antihistamines like Claritin and would get relief but only for a short amount of time. Then the skin rash or ezcema like condition would come right back. This year's Thanksgiving, I would like to express my gratitude towards Acupuncture Plus, Dr Wang, Dr Yuan and Dr Jin. Around the end of August this year, I came and saw Dr Wang because I had edema in my leg and lower body area. My primary physical told me I was malnourished and sent me home. After a couple sessions, I started to meet Dr Yuan, with his extensive knowledge, he provided me with herbal treatments that helped with my issue. Around Nov, my primary physical finally called me back and told me I have Nephrotic Syndrome (with few blood & urine tests in between). In a nutshell: Warm, kind, caring, generous, attentive... Dr. Jin has "a heart of gold" and is a gifted healer. In a more expanded nutshell: When I first came to Acupuncture Plus, my blood pressure was "flying through the roof". And another symptom that I had, had worsen over time and now caused me to wake up prematurely in the middle of the night. It was time to get help. I'm in my early 60's and do not take any medication of any kind. I was a little skeptical at first, but I'm extremely happy I saw Dr. Wang. It is well worth the hour drive. Following a street racing accident I had a few years ago, I really hurt my cervical spine and since then I have had issues in the right side of my neck. I have tried everything from muscle relaxants, nerve medications, tumeric and ginger, anti inflammatory medications, trigger point injections, chiropractic care, massage therapy, an epidural, a medial block facet of 4 joints in my spine to a radiofrequency ablation and nothing has offered relief. The muscles in my neck and shoulder were and are extremely overstretched and it's going to take a while to heal completely. The reason I came in was because recently, this pain has gravitated to my entire upper back and down my arms. It feels like terrible inflammation, like my entire upper back and neck is on fire and it is hard to drive and function when I am having one of these "flare ups," and anti inflammatory medication does not help this. Sometimes it is just very annoying, but on other days it is excruciating. All I can do is lay down on my stomach and cry. I've almost completely lost my appetite and on some days, my will to live. I'm sorry this is so long, but I feel I need to tell my story, because Dr. Wang changed my quality of life. I am a 45 year old mother of 3, who up until about 6 months ago, felt pretty good and was not in a lot of pain most days. I've had sciatic issues with low back pain occasionally due to my 3 C-sections, but it was tolerable. I was also born with hip dysplasia which was corrected in my toddler years by whatever means the late 70's could provide. However, sometime in late January or early February of this year, I really started feeling the aging process, especially in my hip joints. I began having more pain on the left side of my body, low back pain, inflamed tissue, extreme sciatic & hip joint pain became a daily condition, and within months, it began to affect my right side as well. I was a skeptic of acupuncture, even though my uncle studied it as well as Chinese herbal medicine his whole life in Taiwan. As a child, I just could never get over the taste of the herb teas. About 4 or 6 years ago (it's fuzzy now, so long ago it seems) I moved from Austin to Cedar Park, and within the first year of moving to Cedar Park, I developed eczema. It was so terrible, I could not function, because I couldn't sleep at night, and it doesn't stop during the day. My body was constantly covered with pink puffy welts of raised rashes. I went to my western MD and she referred me to a dermatologist, and both of them said for me to take oatmeal bathes and oil my skin daily after shower and pat dry. I tried that for two weeks, and my skin was baby soft, but the itching and the rash did not go away. When the eczema began on my face and made me look like a monster, I freaked out and decided I had to do something. As a last resort, I Googled for acupuncturists in Austin, and decided to give Dr. Wang a try, because he was a guest teacher at the AOMA, and I figured that's qualification for making me feel better again. I went to him for acupuncture treatments once a week for a month, then once every two weeks, then once a month, then just once every few months (about 2-4 times a year) for "tune ups" of my chi. In between the visits, I would be the most obedient patient and take those nasty herbal teas that I had never tolerated as a child. But even that is the lesser evil than the hell I go through with my skin conditions. Although I don't take the herbs all year around, just a couple of months a year now. Long story short, within two weeks of my first seeing him, I started feeling better. Within two months, I stopped itching all together. I went back to him at the beginning of the winter season the first couple of years because that was when it would worsen, but even then, it wasn't nearly as miserable as when I first went to see him. Am I a believer? For eczema, yes. It's not easy though - perseverance with the herbs is primary. He said that the herbs and the types of diet I have daily is more powerful than the needles. For other things, I can't speak much about it. I had a car accident two years ago - a young man ran the red light at an intersection. :( Ever since, I have had pain and popping joints and jaws. I have been using western remedies such as sports medicine and physical therapy and even chiropractic... nothing has helped so far, so at my last visit, Dr. Wang said he can make my back pain and neck and shoulder pain and knee and jaw pain go away.
