The Holland Princess Cruise was a fun time! We went for a work outing, but there was every walk of life there! There was a bachelorette party, a retirement group home there, and just families. It's a nice 2 hour cruise out to the lighthouse. The deck on top gets views of the lake first and eats last while the group on the lower deck eats first and goes on top last. The buffet food was surprisingly very tasty! I'd definitely come back and bring friends and family on this. read more

A great experience on the Holland Princess! It was a beautiful afternoon, there was a nice breeze on the water, and our captain pointed out landmarks and interesting sights on our two hour cruise. Fantastic views of Big Red! A couple of teenagers provided pleasant music on the top deck. The food included a really tasty salad, fresh fruit, rolls, bbq chicken and cocktail meatballs. Waitstaff did not have good attitude. The boat was very outdated inside and had dead bugs on wall and table. Interior reminded me of something I was on in the late '80's-early '90's. Needs to be completely updated! Food was bland dog food and only something an 80 year old would be happy to eat. Roasted potatoes were raw and undercooked. Chicken was not tender and even tasteless with the BBQ sauce. No seafood at all going out on Lake Michigan. If I knew it was like this, I would have been happy viewing the water from a nice restaurant or a park bench. I had a great time cruising and having a look at Macatawa Bay, we even got to go out a little bit into Lake Michigan because the weather was nice enough. Zero complaints about food either; the fruit was a great assortment and featureed my favorite summertime treat, fresh pineapple. The salad was a huge hit with the rest of my party, though food allergies prevented me from enjoying it myself. It was a mix of greens and fruits with options to add some other toppings yourself. Had fun on this unique experience! You definitely book it for the vibes and not the food. There was no menu ahead of time so you didn't know what to expect. We had a delicious salad, chicken, fruit, potato salad, Swedish meatballs, and rolls. Cash bar was ok. Enjoyed sitting on the top of the boat for dessert (choice of brownie or cheesecake). This is a lovely experience if you are an out of town, but there is some downsides. The boat is very cramped there is barely any room for people to move around when trying to get up to get your plate or move to the upper deck. The food was nice they sad a decent variety! Chicken, salmon, mixed fruit, potato salad, rolls and tossed salad. For dessert the offered two options of cheesecake or a brownie. Most of this food is from SAM's club, so if your not a fan of their food I would shy away from this dinner. I do wish they posted a menu since some people have allergies and we're unable to enjoy the food! They also definitely need to remove a table to make it less cramped and allow for better moment of people. The staff were quite lovely and nice. Refilling drinks and taking the trash. On the upper deck there was a lovely younger gentleman for played music and sang for us! He knew a nice variety of songs and was very funny at times. Your out on the water for roughly 2 hours and the first hour you are either eating or upstairs listening to the music. After the hour you switch. I do wish we were all able to eat at the same time so we didn't have move around the crowded cramped ship on bumpy water. This is a semi nice experience but NOT WORTH the price!! read more

Well run. organized and a lot of fun! Anyone who criticized the dinner has missed the point. The dinner was nothing fancy, but it was good, especially the salad! If you want gourmet food made on sight, this boat does not have the room for that. Just sit back and enjoy the cruise. Live music up top and full service staff for the tables on the lower level. It was fun, it was scenic and the owners did a great job! We hope you have a very profitable 2023 so we can come back in 2024! My advice to people who want to see the lake is to dine at a nice restaurant on the water. This cruise was $65 per person Labor Day 2022. The way it works is half the people go up top for the music and views while the other half eats dinner. Then we switched. I knew it would be cold on the water, so I dressed accordingly, but that was a complaint I heard from other guests up top. The music was nice; just a little ambiance for the ride, not like dinner and dancing. The dinner however was not really worth it. One thing I didn't like is that we were sat at crowded tables of 8. The food was BBQ chicken, potato salad, meatballs, shrimp, salad, a Hawaiian roll and mixed fruit. The food tasted okay. The brownie and cheesecake were good. The drinks were $8 and on the small end, and the drinks menu didn't say that Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite are all included in the price. I wouldn't do it again, but the old boat was cool to see. read more

2 minutes ago Our experience with this business was HORRIBLE! We had made reservations for 3 for their luncheon cruise back in May for the August 27 cruise. We arrived early, as instructed. Upon checking in we were instructed to go to the upper deck. It was 90 degrees and there was NO cover for shade, we were told it had blown off over a week ago. We said that we could not sit for 2 hrs in direct sun. My mom is 90. We did get upset with the employee. She connected us with the owner. No help there either. The employee had told us another group requested the entire enclosed, air conditioned lower level. Well how nice for us. The employee herself said she wouldn't want to sit up there either, but put us up there, no problem. The website stated "sold out" , funny NO ONE ELSE was on the upper level. We were offered a cruise either the same night or next week. We had chosen this date for a reason , it worked for us. After a heated discussion the only resolution was a refund. Thank you so much Holland Princess Cruises, we gave this cruise as a gift to our mother, planned on this day for three plus months, drove out there, and got treated like . The cruise, the Scenery was magnificent. Room for improvement for sure. Food was something you'd have in a back yard bbq even cold! Drinks were small and we did not know there was option of pop! They did not ask about food request and or allergies. Shrimp was served and I can't have it! Boat needs to be cleaned and up graded. Bathroom is small. Boat captain only pointed out 3 things on the tour! The on boat music was ok and no live DJ or fun! Not something I'd do again for $60 a head!! read more

I have never written a yelp review before but I have also never been fed steaming hot garbage for a meal before. But the dinner wasn't as bad as it got. If you enjoy sitting at a cafeteria table with complete strangers and their fornication trophies, perhaps this is the dinner for you. When it came time for desert those aforementioned strangers passed my plate to me. Which, I would have been inclined to decline but I needed something to take the taste of dinner out of my mouth so I begrudgingly accepted the paper plate with a Costco brownie on it that had no less than seven hands fondling it on its way to me. I can't believe yelp doesn't allow a zero star rating. If there was a life boat on this rig I would have jettisoned myself to shore and headed straight to a bathroom to brush my teeth and drink a gallon of scope. I contemplated alerting the coast guard to save everyone, however I'm not aware of what the protocols are for attempted mass murder on a paddle boat. Politically I'm somewhat of a libertarian and despise the term "ban" but someone of authority should definitely write up some legislation against this abysmal experience. read more

I went with a group of 6 for the dinner cruise, and we all enjoyed ourselves. The food was better than expected- fresh fruit, spinach salad, bbq chicken, breaded shrimp, mashed potatoes and dessert- the choice between chocolate cake or cheese cake. I think the drink prices could have been a little more reasonable (a drink menu offered $7 cocktails with not much liquor), though wine was good at $5/glass. One hour was spent downstairs for the meal, and one hour on the upper deck, where a girl with a ukulele serenaded us while we watched scenery go by. Cool breezes, delicious picnic fair, and an evening on the lake, what could be better? The Holland Princess delivers! The boat offers two levels - the lower deck is air-conditioned with large windows to gaze out on the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan and Macatawa. The upper deck - is mostly shaded - but open air and allows the very best view. Food is served downstairs, but I HIGHLY suggest if the weather is in anyway decent - head upstairs with your plate and enjoy the view from there. Now about the food, you can't expect to get a 50 dollar meal, and a 50 dollar boat ride..for 50 dollars. Appetizer were served - fresh fruits and cheeses - with crackers. Yum! The food is picnic fair - barbecue chicken, potato salad, fresh salad, pasta dishes - all were very good and served buffet style - so load up! In any other capacity, the meal would probably cost about 15 bucks - but you're getting a two hour tour with it - so well worth the money. And let's not forget one of the most important parts of the trip, dessert! Selection was limited to cheese cake or chocolate "lava cake". My husband had the cheesecake - was divine! I thoroughly enjoyed my slice of chocolate. Lively music plays throughout the cruise, with some interruption with interesting facts about the lakes and the area. The captain Is very knowledgeable on the area. There were some very amazing surprises along the way, I won't spoil it, but memories were created! The staff was very helpful and polite. They seem to really enjoy their job. I docked them one star because I would have liked a larger selection of dishes - besides barbecue chicken - perhaps finger sandwiches or a vegetarian option? If you haven't seen the Holland from the water this is worth a trip. it is a nice slow tip down lake Macatawa out the channel to Lake Michigan. That is the good part. The room for improvement is most definitely the food. We had a gift card for the dinner cruise, the chicken was white meat only and average at best, the mash potatoes were the worst I have ever had and the green bean casserole was just OK. You get two choices of drink, pink lemonade or sweat tea. There is a bar that you can purchase drinks and that might make the karaoke music a little better sounding or give you the ability tolerate it! read more

There are times when it dawns on you that people in tourist areas have to make all their money in a few months. As we took this dinner cruise that came to my mind often. At $50 per person with no idea what is on the menu, it should have started there... but no, it first dawned on me when I watched them pour my very expensive cocktail, they didn't measure any of the alcohol. Just drizzled it into an ice-filled cup barely tipping the bottle. Needless to say I gave myself a one drink limit. The meal was similarly impressive with battered shrimp and bbq chicken poured into the portable steam tables for a buffet that rivals a family reunion with relatives you don't know or care for. Given the expense, I would go to a decent restaurant and then look for another option to tour the lake. The tour around Lake Makatawa was fine but there was no entry to Lake Michigan. Our Grand Rapids-based work group chartered the Holland Princess for an outing to celebrate the end of the fiscal year and to reward staff for an exceptional year with a midday cruise and lunch. Around thirty of us drove from Grand Rapids to the dock in Holland, where we waited. And waited. And waited. Someone from our group finally contacted the owner. Turns out she was under the impression that we were booked for the following day (though the contract was correct). Trina offered to round up the captain, the singer who had been booked, and the catering to try to salvage the day, but it was determined that it would have thrown off the schedules of several people in the group who had commitments later in the day. We were forced the scrub the cruise. It looked like a nice boat and it seemed like a nice lake and we speculate that we may have had fun, but we will never know. My advice - If you book the Holland Princess, confirm your reservation several times. They seem to forget things. read more

We just moved to Holland and decided to take my parents on this cruise for fun. It was a complete disappointment! The food left much to be desired. Chicken and bbq ribs were served with baked potatoes and rolls. The chicken was soggy, the ribs were mediocre at best and both were cold. The cruise was altogether unprofessional and seemed thrown together even though the owner said they'd been doing it for ten years. I would not recommend this to anyone for the price.
