The physical campus is also incredible, and I cannot believe the spaces she is able to explore. She never stops talking about the farm animals! She is so delighted to go in each morning, and we could not be happier that we found such a wonderful place for her to learn and grow.

He is learning Mandarin and conversational Spanish along with his core subjects- all of which he is able to move along at a pace that works for him. I particularly like the way they handle typical "elementary" conflict. They hold a meeting, everyone can speak their mind and then they all decide how they can work through it.. a real life skill! In my child's old school an argument at recess meant children "sitting out" not able to play simply because they had a conflict about something. This fostered ill feelings amoung the children rather than empowering them to work out issues and move on together.. a very adult way to handle things. It's the small details like this that make all the difference in the world for ensuring children become productive members of society. After visiting many private schools we are so glad we decided on Second Nature Academy!

As a new mom, I greatly appreciate the human connection that all of the caregivers provide. Every day I am greeted with a smile and asked about how my daughter's night was. Beyond that, the caregivers are always happy to give me advice and support after a long night or fussy morning. I am thoroughly satisfied with her infant care, and am even more excited for her to progress through the childcare program. The layout of the building allows me a glimpse into the other early childhood classrooms, and I am constantly amazed by the variety of activities and teaching methods that I see on a daily basis. I also love that the program is part of 2nd Nature Academy. While we certainly don't want to rush our daughter's early childhood experience, we look forward to her continued education for many years to come.

I was a nervous new mother so I thought I was being critical of the lack of warmth from caregivers and staff. Aside from Carol who greets you upon entry there was no comfort in leaving your child there. I questioned myself thinking I was protective and went along with it. Over time it didn't change. I came one day to pick my child up early to find a substitute teaching acting extremely inappropriate with the children scolding them In a way that felt like she was losing control. Other staff members appeared embarrassed when I witnessed it. When speaking with the director I was reassured she wouldn't work with the younger kids anymore because " it overwhelmed her " I quickly learn from that point on it wasn't the right place for my child. I think they paint a pretty picture of what they offer but within the walls of the preschool is quite different. Their expectations are extremely high for toddlers and pre k and sadly lack the nurturing piece. I found the staff to be young with a lot of turnover. I found the director Jillian to be young, naive and lacking real life experience to be in her role. Be careful of the pretty picture it presents. I am so sad that I didn't go with my gut on day one... a new mother novice decision. Luckily my child has no memory and I have found a place that is nurturing with experienced staff.

It is a stain on the community it is in. I had the misfortune of going here while growing up, and as someone with high functioning autism, I was forced into the special ed program even though I very much shouldn't have been and didn't belong there. I was seperated from my friends and treated like I was too stupid to learn anything, and so I didn't, other than the things I taught myself. I am not a stupid person and I am not a bad learner, I just had bad teachers, and trust me, this whole school, and especially its special ed program, have no shortage of bad teachers. They do nothing to stop bullying, either. They say they have a zero tolerance policy for bullying. What they mean is they have a zero tolerance policy for those who get bullied. They do nothing to punish bullies, ever, not even once, but whenever I'd stand up for myself, despite being told to do so by teachers, I'd get in trouble. The teachers would also join in on the bullying. I am gay, and while I wasn't open about it when I was that young I definitely knew it and it was pretty obvious. So the bullying was relentless. This is not a safe place to be for anyone who isn't completely conformist in every way, be it due to being queer, or being autistic. This school doesn't nurture individuals or individuality, it doesn't recognize student's talents, it crushes them. I was and still am an artist, and teachers would always try to stop me from doing art whenever they could, try to spin it like my art was inappropriate. It wasn't inappropriate art, in fact a lot of my art had major historical themes, which you think would be educational. But I was only ever punished for engaging in my talents and passions. This school was the first step on the long road to having lots of trouble going through school, and I struggled all the way until I had to drop out, and eventually get my GED. That wasn't entirely because of this school, but it didn't help and I had to swtich schools after 6th grade. From what I've heard from other students, their experience wasn't much better. If you live in Pepperell, I recommend you homeschool your kids, or send them to a charter school, neither of which I would usually recommend. But our school system is terrible and by far the biggest embarassment to our community. I will never recommend raising children here to anyone. I'm glad I don't plan to, because other than the terrible schools, Pepperell is a great place to live.

She physically restrained my daughter and would not let her come to me, until she talked with me. My daughter was screaming, crying and begging to get to me. I had to yell at Ms. Lorraine to release her. Ever since that incident my daughter was abused. We pulled her from the facility. Mind you this facility touts itself as a place that helps kids with IEPs and behavioral issues. They are not. They are abusive to those children that fall into that category. The only way this business allows you to be on the waiting list is if you pay them a registration fee and first week tuition. I finally heard from another childcare institution that was able to take my child, and when I reached out and let the director know, after multiple emails they stated that they will not return almost $400 that I sent to them just to be on a waiting list. I could understand the registration fee, but the week of tuition should have been returned. I will never recommend a place that won't return someone's hard earned money, especially during a time like this.
