County, it's not even close--L.A. wins every time. I grew up and went to college in L.A. County, and I spent way more time driving and, thus, listening to the radio in the 1990s and very early 2000s than I do in the Bay Area. Put another way, when I lived in Southern California, I had radio presets on my car. I've lived in San Francisco since 2003 and have had three cars over that time, and I've never bothered with radio presets, because aside from KQED, KALW, and KPFA (none of which are really music stations), it's generally not worth listening to the radio for music here. Until 2024, that is. I was running errands for an upcoming weekend trip, and I happened upon 92.7 FM, which is technically KEXC but which is just a repeater of 90.3 KEXP in Seattle. Whatever show I caught was really cool and eclectic, a combination of a college-radio station and Santa Monica's KCRW. The music was familiar and new at the same time, and the DJ sounded like a very polished college DJ. Over the next few months, I continued to listen to KEXP whenever I drove, and then, when I wasn't driving as much, I started streaming it. It's an amazing station with a long, interesting history in Seattle. Its current iteration is nonprofit, but it's not an NPR affiliate, as far as I can tell, and while it is still somehow connected to the University of Washington, it's not purely owned by the university. If they play anything other than music, I've never heard it. Not all the shows are the same, and some DJs are more interesting than others, but it's generally worth listening to at any time of the day. They have some Bay Area sponsors and ads as well, and while I generally abhor ads, most of them are for small businesses both here and in Seattle, so it feels like real community radio.

Like pretty much every station they have some good hits that are awesome, and then a bunch in the rotation that play too often. I get a little worn out with Lynyrd Skynyrd Freebird since it plays so often and definitely Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana. Don't get me wrong. I love those bands! They just get play a lot, same songs too. Love it when they get some Guns N Roses or Ozzy going to wake me up in the traffic. The main thing that gets me tuned in is BJ Shea and Sarah. They're a good duo. My sizzling Hot take - Danny Bonaduce stepping down was a good move. I liked him, he was funny, and his "hot take" segments were funny, but his Life coach segment was ill advised. He'd often advise guys who had a friend cheating on their spouse to say nothing and even help them cover it up if need be. Like dude, that is not bro code. So, BJ Shea has taken it over and it's an improvement. Sorry Danny! Rock on KZOK.

Tiffany Warner is whom I usually hear during my morning commute. She's good, but nothing particularly special. No morning show, unless I miss it, just music and commercials. Always hoping to catch a string of songs and not commercials. If it's not commercials, sadly Hot 103.7 is either Hot or cold with their tracks. when they're hot like this morning where they hit a string some classics/throwbacks of all lady MC's - Lauryn Hill, Eve, Aaliyah and of course Missy Elliott since she's coming to town in a few weeks. This is where it gets cold. If anyone is coming to town they play their stuff, CONSTANTLY, and it's not even varying their library. If I hear "Work It" one more time.... Even when it's not that I place bets with myself before tuning to 103.7 that I'll most likely hear 50 Cent, Nelly or DMX. I feel like 7/10 times It's one of their songs being played. Or of course Sir Mix Alot/Macklemore for obvious reasons. Despite my issues, Hot 103 is ok.

They deliver with tunes with lots of 80's pop, rock, hip-hop, soul, ballads and more. Plenty of artists... Huey Lewis & the news, Van Morrison, Madonna, Run DMC, Sade, Billy Paul...I think they do a good job mixing it up overall. I know there's complaints of repeated songs, but 95.7 is way better than the other stations I listen to. The Jet's morning show with Jodi and Bender is without a doubt the best of all the stations I tune into during my morning commute. I love playing along and laughing at the 'Puget Sound Showdown' - a quiz game where two random callers compete with one another (and Jodi or Bender who take turns) the other will be the question asker. First person to 5 correct answers wins - usually tickets to a show, bragging rights and move on to play again for the title. Listening in and playing along usually results in a laugh to get my day started which is always good. Jodi and Bender also do is a string of songs within a segment called "three songs we don't normally play, but probably should". The Listener chooses a song, Jodi chooses one, and Bender chooses one. Often times the listener chooses something uncommon like a random Tom Petty song, but still occasionally gets played but Jodi and Bender pull some random, and I mean random stuff out sometimes. I was listening one morning, and Jodi put on freakin' The Never-ending Story theme song by Limahl. I don't think it gets any more random and 80's than that. Yeah 95.7 The Jet is awesome. I am un-fortunately forced to listen to this worthless station far too much during my work day. They don't have a DJ but I have to say I am a far bigger fan of DJ's than computer controlled randomizers. Listening to this station can be done in almost every major city, that's right the exact same station is in over 50 markets. If you enjoy a mix of music from the 80's and 90's music that's not particularly any good, or in any sort of well strung together fashion, all the while enjoying NOT supporting your local music, or anything local for that matter than this is the station for you!

Now instead of a cheap KISW copy they are a cheap copy of 92.5 They need to be original when creating a new station or go back to being an oldies station.
