Nice friendly park, to bike ride, BBQ. You can sometimes see ppl horseback riding. Restrooms are clean lots of parking.

This park is so big and spacious you'll never have a problem finding an area to claim. There are handball, tennis, and basketball courts. There seems to be two parking lots. There's a kids playground and it's right by the restrooms. The only problem with the restroom is it's dirty and no soap is provided. The park is right next to a school and by the LA river. You can see the cyclists and runners from the park. Lots of people were letting their dogs run free. There were some people in the parking lot lounging. As well as your occasional group of old men playing card games. For the surrounding area this park feels like a safe space. read more

One of the best and calm parks in the area. Usually pretty clean, great place to get some peace or exercise or have a picnic, a kids party or just go for a walk. One side of the park is active with a playground, tennis courts, basketball and handball courts....across the street is entirely different! Peaceful, grassy area with a lot of shade. Hollydale Park in South Gate received some new playground equipment fairly recently (at least as of 11/30/16). Before that, my girls and I visited here in March and it had all been vandalized and burned down. So the City, their insurance reimbursement, and L.A. County's Prop A combined for a hefty amount ($480,168) for the new Landscape Structures, Inc.*, but they are great. The kids love it. I rented the gazebo they have at this park, there unfortunately is no access for a wheelchair so my grandmother and my husband grandmother could not attend my daughter's party. We tried to wheel them in and my grandmother almost fell out of her chair.. very horrible to have a space like that! I will not be coming here again. I really enjoyed myself at this park!! Finding it was a task but once I got here the plants and greenery sucked me in. They have a path along the riverbend so that was delightful. The playground was even better it had different structures that my kids enjoyed. It wasn't like the same old park you see everywhere. The tennis courts basketball courts were peaceful. Overall this is one of me and my kids favorite park to go to especially because it's about 3 minutes from our horse stables. I didn't see any funny business while we were here and I seen a police officer sitting in his car observing the park. I felt safe and the park was clean. read more

It's huge, it's clean, it's well kept and it's in a nice area. I really love this park when it's empty. It feels really peaceful and the many different trees keep it nice and fresh. Me and my boyfriend have been coming here for more than four years. Now we bring our daughter for walks and have a picnic once and a while. I discovered this park along time ago when I was serious about running. I used to run along the riverbed in the afternoons and watch the beautiful sunset Bc you get a good view as it's setting behind the freeway. I'm not giving this park 5 stars Bc the downer to this beautiful park is that it somehow became the hangout spot for potheads and classic car enthusiasts. But on a good day, usually Sunday mornings for us, you do get to enjoy its beauty. Ps. I am picky with the parks I visit, however I really enjoy this park. It has a great amount of terrain. It's great for family BBQ's. Has a lot of flat terrain which is great for he kids to play soccer and other sports. It's a big park so you do not have to worry about other ppl being in your space. It's next to the LA river which makes biking accessible. It also has play grounds for the kids to play. Also, has a space designated for horse riding only. read more

I love this place for my girls (I have a Great Dane & 2 Malteses ) There are two gated areas, one for the smaller dogs and one for big dogs over on the Century side. That's what I come here hit. There is so much room for them to run around in and it's so fun to see them play and interact with other puppies (: If you go through Monroe I think it is, ull have to walk through the park to get to this spot. (Which I occasionally do if I'm feeling like getting a little extra steps in my day) But definitely visit this place if you have four legged babies! Located right in the border cities of South Gate, Hollydale and Paramount lies a strip of land where I can describe it as quaint yet serene. Hollydale Park is the place I am picturing! Undergoing massive renovations for the longest, Hollydale Park is situated along the Los Angeles River. The park is often said by others to be hidden, due to the fact that you have to take certain small residential streets just to find the place. It is big in size with jungle gyms, swing sets, basketball courts and grassy small hills. You will often find squirrels running amok the trees and grass! I am guessing that the park is dog friendly, considering the many times I have came, people bring their dogs! Yes, there are also those wanna be tough guys that come to the park trying to punk others! Whatevers! Parking is abundant. They do have plenty of restrooms. Whenever I am in the area, I do come by just to relax underneath the trees and just walk by the riverwalk. One of my fave parks, it has a different vibe from South Gate Park. Is it better? Pretty good little park in the outer edge of South Gate. It has a pretty big park that runs about 2 miles down. A large track to run, a concourse to train horses, 2 tennis courts (that need a little maintenance), and a play area, and some handball courts. Usually on the weekends, the park is full with soccer leagues on one end of the park. Otherwise, the other end is usually left for families. Never seen this park really full. This is also a good place to park your car, if you want to bike ride down the river bed. read more

I come here to do my jogging but I make it a point to make it a fast one. A lot of suspicious activity here and a lot of couples sucking face. People that come here do not read the signs or if they do, they don't care because they bring their dogs and even leave them off leashes so be careful. Breaking the rules here seems to be a big thing because every time I go its either people drinking, people with dogs, or people playing ball in areas that have signs saying "No ball playing." I suggest highly to look for another park. read more

I am very biased towards this park since I grew up playing in it and my PE classes used Hollydale Park for running and flag football. What can I say? I love this park! It is my vision of a beautiful park. I love walking my dog, Lucy, around the park (mind you, I know I can get cited by the City for doing so, but I still do. I just try to be a good dog owner and pick up her poo). I love that it runs along the river and its perfect for riding your bike along the river from Griffith Park to Long Beach. I love the trees and grass. If you are trying to get in shape, it has this milestones built throughout the park where you stop to do pull ups, push ups, etc. I also love watching people riding their horses along the river or at the equestrian center. Hollydale is where I grew up and I love it so much. read more

While I like this park for walking, it has become rather busy with joggers and people walking their dogs in these Coronavirus times. There are signs posted that the park is officially closed, the gates are closed, but it seems to be popular right now, and the P&R patrol open and close the restrooms at times. I don't get it. My biggest gripe right now is that only half the people there, on any given day, are wearing a face covering, and there are a lot of people not keeping a safe distance from one another. Responsible folk are doing what they should be doing for safety's sake; keeping their safe distance and wearing a mask, regardless of how uncomfortable it is while running and walking. If you want to enjoy some exercise at a safe distance (away from most of the crowd), walk, run or bike on the riverbed, adjacent to the park. I hope people who do not take Covid-19 safety precautions seriously realize that in addition to jeopardizing their own healthy status, they may be putting their loved ones health/lives in danger. And, no, you cannot blame God for bringing a cruel fate upon you or yours if something tragic occurs. It will not be His fault, but your own damned arrogance and willful stupidity. read more

The park is well kept and very spacious with benches, play grounds, and hand ball courts. The dog park could use more responsible owners but its very friendly. I really love walking around this park its so green and wide for soccer games and a nice stroll. Theres also a riverbank and large dirt area to ride ATVs or motorbikes. read more

Compared to Apollo park and All American, Hollydale is probably the best for your running/jogging/exercise needs and it's accessible to the riverbed for nice easy bike rides.It's never crowded on weekday mornings or afternoons. Pretty even elevation and you can choose to run around the whole park or focus on one of the smaller loops (think of the park layout as the number 8). Yes, there is always people hanging out in their cars.This is apparently the spot for guys to take girls out on cheap dates or for earlybirds who like that "wake and bake" sesh. No one has ever bothered this petite brunette on her solo bike rides or miserable jogging attempts here, yet I wouldn't feel comfortable coming here after dusk. read more

Love this park for its wide open spaces, and it's a good place for a run. Unfortunately there are assholes that are selfish and believe this park is a place to race there cars and motor bikes throughout the park, even sometimes on the grass. Police patrols are infrequent if any, and calling the police about some A- hole making donuts in the parking lot brings a mediocre response if any. It's still a good park to bring your dogs and kids just watch out for the assholes. read more

This park has more people during the Morning and Evening after 5pm; however, Due to Time Change it gets lonelyand dark earlier at 5pm.so thats why its lonely, but on Saturdays during the day time there is people there. I love this park i developed new friends here and they are having a DOG X-mas Sat. 12/13/14 I cant wait and an agility course in the Dog Park. I recommend it and its local in the 90723 area as well (= (better than Downey Dog Park where there is more bully fighting dogs as to this one all dogs from all breeds get along more easily. read more

It is dirty, unkempt, the bathrooms are disgusting, hair and dirt in the ice cold pool. The hot tub makes you cry, there so much bleach in it. The rent is the highest in California, higher than in Malibu. No services. But they overcharge on gas, water and electricity. The spy on tenants. They regularly get sued and lose in court. They regularly run people out of their homes. They undersell the tenants and give kickbacks to on the homes they stole from people and now sell. If a tenant wants to sell, the rent is very high and the lease bad- right now up to 1,500 a month. When they sell, they offer leases starting at $970- only in 5 years the tenant pays them $1,600 as they write in rent hikes and the "home" they sell is a ruin- holes in roof and floor, no hot water, no appliances etc. When the people no longer can afford it, they run them out and re-sell. The had 3 law suits in the last 7 years. Lost every one of them. read more
