Seeing families enjoying outdoor times in the park makes me nostalgic, and I wish my family had enjoyed such moments with me when I was younger. My only concern with the pool which isn't really them-it's the parents. They need to watch their kids and not treat it as a babysitter. I've had to help a girl out who was struggling to swim and she was like 4. And the lifeguards continuously have to tell the same kids to stop all day. Also, there should be an age limit for boy being in the girls locker room. My 9 year old daughter feels uncomfortable with boys her age in a space where she undressed. Moms need to let their kids be more independent and let them change on their own in the boys room. I get the safety aspect for them but let's take into consideration that young girls feel uncomfortable too.

There was also a couple inside the children's pirates themed enclosure acting suspicious and most likely using drugs. The couple wouldn't leave although the other parent asked them to. I was left feeling uneasy when the parks and recreation worker refused to check the enclosure for left over drug paraphernalia. I wouldn't go back.

Recently visited this park for my son's swim meet. The park is rather large, located between a…read morebusy commercial area and a neighborhood. The park facilities include athletic fields, picnic facilities, a playground, and various courts for small ball games. Some city buildings also call the park home, part of the complex that includes the swimming pool/YMCA facility. During my visit, the whole southern part of the park was fenced-off near the elementary school for some kind of construction project or maybe just equipment storage? Location near busy Bellflower Blvd. and Rosecrans makes at least part of this park a little scary with the speeding cars and interesting visitors. I happened upon the remnants of a candlelight vigil held for a fallen comrade, complete with RIP written in dripped wax on a picnic table. Nevermind that dripping wax on a picnic table in a public park is a real classy move, but condolences to the family and friends of the fallen. Still, a nice wide open green space with plenty of shade trees if you want em. Anyway, I don't come here a lot, and don't live close to here, so no harm no foul. Occasionally sit here under a big shade structure waiting for my kid's swim events, and then put this place in the rearview.

Unfortunately many who came to play like us just adjusted and played with the tennis nets on the courts. It would be nice if a portable pickleball net was kept here like other parks, but it seems priority is for tennis here (amounting to around 8 tennis courts total here). Needless to say, I like the maintenance at the park here. There were also gated courts for concrete soccer, which was interesting. Lots of gnats flying around the area, but could be due to local weather. Overall a good park to play pickleball but highly recommended once again to have your own net for an optimal experience. * Reservations for courts are able to be made according to the rules sign
