My 18 year old daughter has been dealing with menstrual problems for the past 2 years and the only resolution by medical doctors is birth control. I called the…read moreoffice to see if they took my insurance and if they could help with what I thought was a pinched nerve at the time. I went the same day. The place is small, but clean with very thin walls. I was able to hear patient conversation in other room. Ultimately, they are disorganized and the receptionist is unprofessional. Hopefully they see this review and opt for improvement. Good: *I received a decent amount of info about pinched nerves and how it's a result of stress/strain over maybe a 10-year span. * I left with less pain than I arrived. * I was told to purchase some items to continue to help the pinched nerve Bad: *during first visit the receptionist (I think her name is Evelyn) told me my insurance doesn't cover acupuncture). I had just went over my healthcare plan the previous week and was surprised to hear this. Today I had my second appointment and spoke with the receptionist again letting her know I spoke with my provider and they e-mailed the page of the policy showing acupuncture included in my coverage. After showing it to her, Evelyn explained to me it's not necessarily covered because Ashley is a chiropractor and not an acupuncturist. She went on to explain they have been going through an issue where many of the acupuncture appointments they submit to the healthcare provider are being denied and she is unsure whether or not the reason is because they (Dixon Chiropractic) are submitting it incorrectly. I let her know, I understand and would look for an acupuncturist that takes my insurance. She got pushy, telling me to be careful of this and mindful of that despite me reassuring numerous times I'm aware of what to ask and look for because I've been making my own appointments well over a decade. *Ashley asked me if I had done x-rays or something of that nature and I told her I don't remember talking about it. Why this is on the bad list is because if your patient is supposed to do something as important as an x-ray/mri why would there not be written/e-mailed communication about that? Also, no recommendation or referral? That's odd *I had already started my session with the machine and Ashley came back into the room to ask if I understood everything Evelyn explained to me in regards to the acupuncture. I was taken aback by the question because why would the comprehension be lacking on my end and I not bring it to your attention? *Ashley cut the time on the machine short to crack my back twice and offer cupping. She never mentioned there would be an extra charge (3 cups for 10 minutes and I barely got an adjustment) which wasn't worth it because I left the appointment in more pain (nowhere near the adjustment) than when I arrived). *interrupting my session more than once to get gloves is crazy. Only one box of gloves in the whole place. There should be extra boxes to refill when a box runs out. Interrupting a client's appointment multiple times should not be an option.
