    Waiting for our train

I'll admit I don't usually take public transit, but I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. I felt safe, and the area was clean and well-monitored. I did see police apprehending someone selling drugs, but honestly, it made me feel even safer knowing they were on top of things. The ride itself was smooth and fast -- something that would normally take 30-40 minutes in traffic only took about 6-7 minutes by train! Quick, easy, and stress-free. I'd definitely do it again.

I can't believe I never reviewed this subway stop located in the heart of Hollywood. Design wise is my favorite stop for the LA subway, with nice palm trees and film reels hanging down the ceiling, quintessential image for our tinsel town that sums up its start and history! From a practical point of view, you can use this stop for Pantages, Theater shopping and dinning around, new Amoeba location, exploring Hollywood. The stop is clean, had lots of security when I used it. Well located, easy to walk places from here! This Hollywood/Vine stop wins my Best Looking Station award, appealing design, with so much local color!

Hollywood/Vine Station is a bit of glitz meets glam with some easy subway system access, possible the best and most upkept of all the stations with beautiful architecture, wall art and deco from top to side to bottom. I tend to get off here to go to Amoeba Music (on Argyle/Hollywood), one of the best Trader Joe's ever (on Vine/Selma) or meet up with friends for food, local shows and Hollywood fun... a tourist in my own backyard. The old camera replicas, movie reels and even the detailed tile floors make it easy and appeasing to take it all in. Plus they have elevators in place as they do all metro stations, and unlike some these are rarely out or being serviced frequently. If you need a tap card or reload for metro you can do so at the Kiosk right before the last set of doors where the turnstiles and tap readers are for entrance (you don't need to tap to exit - I tend to see a lot of out of towners do it - but it doesn't charge you for this regardless). It's was beautiful to see that for this past weekend LA Metro made fare exempt for all in celebration of Juneteenth. All the stations including Hollywood/Vine were green for Go and all the city busses either had covered kiosk or when you tapped it let you know this ride was on them. Go Metro!

My fellow Yelpers have basically summed it all up describing this station so there's pretty much not more to elaborate on than to agree with how much I love this station as well. I mean this subway station encompasses LA. Welcome to Hollywood! You get off at Hollywood and see all the movie reels on the ceiling. They really put a lot of time into the design of this station it's fantastic. I often have to stop and admire the design and the theme of this station. Once you go up the escalators, you see the movie cameras and the other art on display here. I love the lighting in here to. Of course they keep this station by far the cleanest because of all the tourists that come here. This station isn't as wild as Hollywood and Highland as far coming in and out of the underground goes. You definitely don't feel the Hollyweird vibe here and that goes back to making the tourists feel welcome and safe. There is a visible security presence here as well. When you exit the underground there's a hotel that's next to here along with restaurants and some apartment communities. Take a moment to just admire where your at because it breathes: Welcome to Hollywood. Once you step outside from the underground all of Hollywood is around you. This station sits next to the hotel that's here and next to many restaurants and some apartment buildings nearby. The farmers market is nearby here that's on Sundays so that's also something to do if you come to this station. Take time to soak it all in here because this is Hollywood here at Hollywood and Vine.

The only one that doesn't have the smell of a litter box and with some nice aesthetics to gaslight the tourists of the Hollywood dream. Even the ceiling has decor.

This is my favorite metro stop for sure, I agree with all the other elites on this hands down. They really did take the time to put in all the small details to make it nicer. This station is located across the street from Pantages theatre and next to the W hotel so its a pretty safe part of Hollywood and not as super crazy as Hollywood and Highland. Almost every time I went to this station there were LAPD or Metro security on-site so that made me feel confident. There are a lot of homeless people in the city and they do ride the metro or hang out inside the stations but not this one. This station was pretty clean and spacious with lots of art to look at. The inside of the station has old-time movie reels from floor to ceiling and lighted palms trees. To me, this feels like the old classic Hollywood glamor. When you exit the station you will see the Pantages theatre and just around the corner is the capitol records building. Down the street and around the corner heading west is a Wells Fargo ATM and a traders joe. Stepping out of the station you will some of the stars from the walk of fame and if you follow them towards the west you will eventually run into the Hollywood/Highland station. There is no restroom at this station so FYI. You can purchase tickets here at the ticket kiosk with the language options being English or Spanish. An all-day metro pass was $7 as of December 24, 2019, and last you until 2 am the next you. If you dont have a TAP card it wil initially cost you about $2 and then whatever amount of money you wish to load on it. After your account balance is out you just reload the TAP card without having to pay another 2 dollars for one. Another good thing about the TAP cards is that they are good for years to come! Mine expires in like 2030 crazy! So if i go back to LA by then I can save myself $2 yay!

This is usually one of the stops I always use to get to the corner of Hollywood and Vine because that's where Trader Joe's is as well as a few other eateries such as Shake Shack, Al Wazir, Dunkin Donuts, Hollywood Burger and Chocolate Bar which are all in the vicinity. I noticed today that they had police officers stationed down in the lower ground area as well as upstairs. It might be due to tourist season gearing up as the weather starts warming up so they want to ensure a safer environment especially with the transients that seem to loiter around Metro Rail stations in general. The design of the station itself is nice as it has the motif of the Entertainment Industry. It's conveniently located right outside the W Hotel and will be quite the busy area especially with the new phase of the Eastown Apartments that is being rapidly built at the corner of Argyle and Hollywood. It's going to be quite the walkable and energetic area which is something we are all looking forward to. I love Hollywood.

How much is it to park on Saturday and then W parking lot of Hollywood fine Metro?

W parking lot is valet only - $69 unless you're a guest, then it's included. There are other 24/7 lots half to a third of the price nearby - El Centro Avenue has a few covered/structure lots including one that's public and also for LA Fitness member.

Your classic train experience with both business class and coach. Same concept as you would with a flight. Always wanted to experience it down to San Diego but this will do. Train itself has nice comfy seats which is a major plus with a long haul. Windows seats does have curtains which is nice to block out the sun or when your on an overnight. They also have outlets for electronics. Restroom is also available. Not sure if it's every car or every other. They do come and check your tickets while it's running. Don't think I've seen them check when you're getting on instead it's when the train is in motion. A snack cart is also offered. What's nice as well, they have both the lower and higher floors. A good amount of pros to be but you have the cons. I've been where there was something going on with the station or tracks and being delayed can be a bitch. Just takes one thing to happen and it hold everything back. This morning, something was going on with one of the tracks and train kept on getting delayed to an hour and forty five minutes. Ruined my schedule which I ended up having to get an uber from Fullerton station to Union Station in downtown. That's the risk you have to take with public transportation. But it does help as I didn't have to drive.

He took our large suitcase and stored it for us so we didn't have to haul it through the train. His service was appreciated. Unfortunately, nearly everything else fell well below any reasonable standard. On our return trip, the Café car attendant announced he had no refrigeration and was selling warm beer. He was also out of many basic items that should always be stocked. This is unacceptable. Amtrak doesn't keep a spare refrigerator at the Santa Fe station for situations like this? It comes across as sloppy, lazy, and completely avoidable. The bathrooms were filthy--worse than a gas station restroom. That level of neglect doesn't happen by accident. It's a management choice. Allowing restrooms to reach that condition is intentional failure. We paid for Business Class and were given a coach car. The real Business Class cars have leather seats, better spacing, and functioning AC. Lately, Amtrak has been slapping a coach car at the front of the train and calling it "Business Class" while still charging the premium. It's deceptive, and it's happening too often to be a mistake. We received an email 53 minutes into the trip informing us that the Wi‑Fi wouldn't work due to "technical difficulties." Nearly an hour into the ride is far too late to disclose that. It feels like an afterthought rather than honest communication. The train itself looked tired and dirty. Grimy windows, missing curtain ties, broken seats that don't recline, dirty carpet, unwiped tray tables--small things, but together they paint a picture of a company cutting corners and letting standards slide. It's disappointing because we genuinely love traveling by train. But this level of neglect and corner‑cutting makes it harder and harder to justify choosing Amtrak.

The at-grade station servicing the E Line opened on 2012, and was a stop on Phase I connecting downtown LA to Culver City. The underground station being the current terminus of the K Line, opened in 2022. It is quite deep underground (maybe 120 feet), having to take stairs to get to an intermediate floor, and then a long escalator to get to ground level. The two lines do not share a common track, and because the original station is outside, one has to walk street level and possibly cross a busy street to be able to connect. That's what I ended up doing when trying to exit the underground coming from Inglewood, and trying to catch the East bound 'E' train to downtown Los Angeles. Not ideal. The long term goal of the K line is to continue north, connecting to the D line and ultimately the B line. Since both of those lines run underground, it makes sense that this station would be as well. And the connection to make a transfer should be a lot better than what it is in Crenshaw/Expo.

It serves as one of the primary stations for Koreatown, and one I've used a multitude of times. There is a large open air plaza right above, making its entrance easy to recognize, but also serving as a magnet for vagrants. It is close to a variety of businesses (mostly Korean) that we frequent. It has served as the end of the very short D Line for a long time (and thus both sides of the platform has trains going to the same place), but will lose that title once the D Line extension (taking it all the way to UCLA) is done. The next segment will open in May 2026, going to Beverly Hills, then Century City, then finally to Westwood. One thing to note is I noticed the use of train cars with a different configuration that I'm used to on LA Metro. Instead of having seats facing forward/backward four across, this configuration has a lot more seats up against the wall, eliminating having to sit where someone could be right behind you. Learned that this is called 'New York-style' bench seating: there is a lot less sitting space, but more capacity for each car overall, with the majority of people standing.
