Metro Green Line This line has changed from a straight shot to or from Redondo to Norwalk. Now you must hop off from the K LINE and exit the LAX drop off just to connect to the green line. It's frustrating but it must be done to get on the green line. Overall, this train is ok compared to the blue and red line. Warning, you will encounter all types of people that are crazy, deranged, violent, smelly, loud, strange, weird etc.. You name it. Overall, it's a solid line for commuting from Point A-B. It's safe pertaining to engineering and train conductors. The people inside determines your experience. Ride at your own risk. Once you are on the Green line, you can expect a 25 minute ride all the way to Norwalk. There is a point from Long Beach Blvd all the way to Lakewood where it has not stops and it is zooming right through. That would be a 5 mile consistent ride without interrupted stops. Typically park here overnight to avoid the egregious parking fees charged by LAX airport hotels. $3 per 24 hours can't be beat. Haven't experienced theft or vandalism (knock on wood). The new northern stops on the C line make it even easier to walk to a hotel. Unfortunately the parking kiosks don't recognize a Tap card in an Apple wallet. I paid 3.00 8/18/25, parked and when I returned had a 53.00 ticket. The young man said his computer made a error. I have repeatedly tried to call and the phone disconnects. Now I have to go to the downtown Metro station to clear the ticket. I'm dissappointed because the ticket writer said I must take care it. The airport stop for the Metro Green line, it will get even more importance in the future when it is connected directly to the LAX people-mover. It has a large parking area, and has many parking spots for various buses from nearby cities (e.g. Santa Monica Big blue Line. Los Angeles Metro, and Culver City). One issue is that the shuttle to the LAX terminals seem to come very infrequently...I waited almost 20 minutes and by the time the buses came, there was quite a few people waiting. The buses themselves are just normal buses...no good place for luggage. Not good when trying to promote the use of Mass transit from the airport. Hopefully will be a lot better once the train to the terminals is complete in '24. read more

So there's a point in every Angelino's life when someone will ask them to come pick them up at the airport, and you will seriously have to consider how important your relationship is with this person. I had to make one such pick up, but because these people were my parents, I had really no way of avoiding it. Cue the metro green line station. In a somewhat shady area below the 105 lies this train stop. A large parking lot that is mostly well lit is where I waited for 20 minutes while they hopped on a shuttle from the terminals. Bus dropped off, we went home. No hassle. I do not recommend this. What I recommend instead is, actually get on the train and ride it to a metro stop further down and have your friends pick you up there. Its a decent free service, but in this case you get what you pay for. There are two or three buses and they are supposed to be staggered out, but they end up clumping up. So you will wait 15 minutes for a bus and then 5 and then 5 and then 15. Or something along those lines. When we arrived in La we saw 3-4 buses go by that were completely full. We then moved down the line to a different area and we finally were able to get on a bus. It was packed. When we were leaving we had an unfortunate issue and had to watch 3 buses go by. Then we saw two buses drop off and leave and finally got on one 15-20 minutes later. From the conversations of the employees who park out there this is pretty common. I like the idea they are attempting to pull traffic from the actual airport. There needs to be at least 2 buses to make this work. Once again I know its free, but dear god its a nightmare. Nothing like waiting to catch a bus so you dont miss you plane. read more

So it can be confusing when you are taking the train out of LAX airport. Stand under the Blue LAX Shuttle Sign. Wait for the G bus. Then it takes you to the green line train station. At that point you buy a ticket ($1.50) From there you can take it where you need and the ticket takes care of transfers and your train ride for up to 2 hours. *sometimes the bus/ shuttle takes too long , But it's cheap and pretty easy to do. read more

I used it for the convenience, especially whenever I fly out it make more sense to take the Metro to LAX instead of driving. I hated the 405 , 105 Freeways during the peak hours. Comparing to other metropolitan cities in the world, LA's public transportation is a real shame. Its been X years since they have built this station but it never got extended to LAX. With the gas price soaring like crazy, I try to take metro to LAX when I only have carry on luggages. At night time there are no securities so the wait time can be a bit scary. Also the machine does not work very well with the credit card , bring cash will help but do they really check the ticket? Highly doubtful! read more

This review is intended to help the passengers flying to LAX Airport from Norwalk Station. Day: Friday morning (Normal friday, not holiday weekend) 7:20 am : I arrived at the Norwalk. Norwalk has big free parking structure, some one dropped me off so I dont know about the parking condition at Norwalk Metro station. I bought the ticket for the train. Since I already did not have a TAP Card, I had to pay $1 for the tap + $1.75 for the fare. Total $2.75. The machine accepts cash and credit cards. 7:30 am : I got into the train to 'Redondo Beach'. (Inside of the train is normal local train. People who got into the train from Norwalk station were mostly going to work people. I saw people on walmart uniforms, 7-eleven uniforms and lots of airport staffs) very few people with luggage going to airport.) It went through station like Hawthorne station, long beach blvd etc. mostly the passengers seem to be commuters but there were some entering the train from Hawthorne, Crenshaw stations who looked kinda scary. There was a guy sitting on the next seat as me, looked rough, cigarettes on top of his ears, rolling his blunt, laughing at himself. he did not do any harm to me or anything but he looked like a guy that would scare kids. 8:00am : I got off at LAX/AVIATION BLVD Station. went downstairs and there was a bus about to leave called something like Greeline shuttle to LAX Terminal. I took that bus quickly for FREE. (Lot of people try to park near that station and try to take the free shuttle to go to terminals. Do not do that, there are staffs observing you that you actually took Metro Greenline to get there and not just tryting to get the free shuttle.) 8:18am: Reached Terminal 1. Lower Level. There was a traffic along the way as it was office time and lots of airport traffic. it took about 18 minutes to get from the LAX/Aviation Station to the LAX Airport. 8:30am: I reached Terminal 5. My Destination. The shuttle stops at every terminal and loads unloads people so if the terminal is crowded and if you want to got to United Terminal 7 and do not have to much to carry it will be faster to get off at terminal 1 or 2 and just walk across the parking structure to Terminal 7. I got through the security check on time. Bottomline: I took that one star off just because I didn't feel this Metro line is very safe to travel during night time otherwise this is a great way for light travelers and frequent flyers to avoid traffic and save parking costs to get to the airport and save some gas. Also this train may not be convenient if you have two big luggages to carry around or if you are in really hurry to catch a flight . This is a public transportation so we have to keep time cushion while travelling. FROM LAX Airport to Norwalk Station Outside the baggage claim on lower level, on the center island where all the shuttles stops for hotels and rental car companies, there is a sign something called "LAX Greenline Shuttle" the shuttle stops at that spot in every terminal. Get on the shuttle, ask the driver if that is GreenLine shuttle. then get off at the "Metro Greenline Station" buy the ticket for the train at the kiosk. Since I already did have a TAP Card I added $1.75 on my tap card. If you dont have the tap card, you have to pay $1 for the tap + $1.75 for the fare. Total $2.75. The machine accepts cash and credit cards. From there take the train "TO Norwalk". I would definitely take this train again. if I was a girl and traveling alone, I would be very careful to take it during evening and night time. I hope this review was helpful read more

We used the Green Line to get to and from LAX over the holidays, it was awesome. At the Norwalk station we purchased a TAP card and paid $1.50 for a metro fare on the line. Then rode till Aviation where we picked up the "G" bus. It was very easy to find and there was Metro workers present if we had questions. Before boarding the bus, your TAP card is scanned (to make sure you actually rode the metro and didn't just park at the Aviation lot). Whole trip took about 40-45 minutes. You can park at a station closer than Norwalk if you like. We parked at Norwalk because it was our first time riding and the Norwalk station has the most parking spaces. All lots along the line looked to have ample parking spots available; could have been light for the holidays though. Coming back was just as easy. "G" buses pickup regularly at the terminal. Just as you would walk to the designated curb and get a taxi, or long-term parking ride, you pick up the "G" bus. Moments later you are back at the Metro terminal to pay your $1.50. If you want to save on parking, have time to get to and from the airport, and can carry your own baggage, take the Green Line! read more

This is the station to get out for missing the airport. But it's LAX's management's fault, not Metro's. To get to the airport proper, catch the LAX Shuttle Line G and show the driver a Green Line ticket or pass. The ride is free but only to transit users, not to deadbeats who use the Aviation station's park-and-ride lot to avoid paying for long-term parking. There is also a lot of redundancy between this station and the LAX City Bus Center. Many buses serve both these major stops. And, no, transit buses do not serve the airport terminals themselves. Only the LAX Shuttles do. Connections: Metro Express Line 439 and Local lines 120 and 625/626; Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Local and Rapid 3; Culver CityBus Line 6; Beach Cities Transit Line 109; LADOT Commuter Express Line 438; and Municipal Area Express lines 2 and 3/3X. read more

Took the Metro to LAX from near LA downtown. The Green line station is closest to LAX. This review is for the whole journey, rather than the Green line alone, but I do think the Green line is a good thing, and an important link to get people as close to LAX as possible. What it involved: The cost is $5 for a day pass plus $1 fee for the tag card (total $6). Journey started in Koreatown town (Normandie/Wilshire Purple Line) Changed to Blue line upstairs (escalator) at 7th/Metro Changed to Green Line upstairs (elevator/stairs) at Willowbrook Got off green line at Aviation/LAX station Went downstairs (elevator) to take a shuttle to the airport terminal The total journey took about 1.5 to 2 hours. Pros: Cheap - probably the cheapest way from downtown LA to the airport. The Flyaway cost $7, plus $1.50 for a metro ride to Union station. Not too difficult to do. I traveled on a Sunday morning. Not too crowded. Cons: Hassle of having to change metro lines, plus a shuttle to reach the airport terminal. Not sure about the elevator situation. I imagine it would have been possible to take elevators to get to all lines, but since I traveled light, I didn't mind carrying the luggage up the stairs. If you are not familiar with the station, you would have to take time to search out the right elevators. Recommended if you have time, are traveling light and want to save some bucks. I would definitely do this again if I am traveling light and have time. read more

It certainly would be helpful if the Green Line connected all the way to LAX, but what are you gonna do... This station isn't bad comparatively. The shuttle connections work out pretty smoothly (once they show up). The elevator smells like urine, but that'll be any Metro station you go to. This station can get pretty cold and windy at night, so if you're planning on being there after dark be sure to bundle up. read more

Since 11/ 15 / 2013 You cannot park in the lot at Aviation and Sepulveda and hop on the Green line bus to LAX anymore. You are supposed to park further out East, like Norwalk, buy the TAP and take the Green line trolley in. LAX employs a guy to check to make sure you got off the trolley and not your car! YIKE! But this free commuter parking lot was abused so badly by people flying out of LAX, it was ridiculous. So it's about the right time. It was so ridiculous every time I had to fly out of LAX I found MY FREE parking lot completely full, regardless of what time of the day! There were lots of people sleeping in their cars overnight who would not wake up early to vacate their spots for me. So I will park in Norwalk and ride the Green trolley in like normal folks. It would take 15 to 30 minutes more but will save some gas. read more

I use this way of trasportation half of my commute to work. It gets the job done. It saves gas and time spent sitting in traffic. I drive from Rowland Heights to Downey 5 days out of the week and try to find parking at Lakewoods park n ride.My complaint us that they need more parking spots! It's terrible! Anything after 7am.. Goodluck! It's$ 1.50 a ride use able for up to 2 hours. It's for the most part a consistent ride(time wise) Once ! The train stopped for 39 mind sitting in the middle of no where! We had to take a very slow ride to the next stop and switch trains! And it wasn't a very friendly city in LA :/ But for the most part what can you expect from public transportation. Weird people, homeless people sleep there. Gang bangers smelling like weed! Warning!! After 5pm or when the sunsets.. Stay away from using the metro train! kind of sketchy parts of LA and gang bangers show up and it's just very dangerous ! Trust me... Only reason it's 3 stars is because i use it everyday and i don't think it can or will get better anytime soon.. read more

I will tell you what's really sad about this station.... if you stand at the western end of the station, you can see how the foundation splits off in the direction of LAX, like some optimistic station designer just KNEW that one day, the Green Line spur to LAX would come to fruition. Until then, it sits as a reminder of the impotence of our government leaders in working out something that might benefit everyone. Besides all that, this is a busy station. Structurally, it's an elevated station with a central platform.... escalators, elevators, and stairs help you up. There's also some fun art and concrete "chairs" that decorate this station. In the context of serving LAX, however, it does this job poorly. Ignoring the 10-15 shuttle ride, the shuttles don't seem to come often or consistently enough. Also remember to keep your Metro ticket, as some LAX shuttle drivers won't let you on without it (since you're supposed to be a Metro rider). I suppose you could just buy a ticket at the vending machine and use your thumb to cover up the station of purchase (they don't check carefully). Lastly, I personally would never park here. read more

I recommend the metro...however, I'm also a 6' 215 pound guy. Would I want my 5'3" 105 pound sisters riding on this thing at night especially? Yeah, that would probably be a big negative. I don't recall ever seeing any cops actually riding the Metro and never at this station. Some of the other stations such as Norwalk have them posted there regularly. Think El Segundo should look into keeping security here on a regular basis. That beings said I've never had any issues and would ride it out to Norwalk from El Segundo on a regular basis. Free parking and you can leave the car there overnight for free. There is a shuttle to LAX if you rode the metro and you can present a ticket. The shuttle comes every 10 minutes in the morning (that is what the driver said when I hopped on at 5:30am). The drivers ask for the metro ticket so make sure to buy one from the machine or else they don't let you on the bus. read more

If you catch the Santa Monica Big Blue buses here, the drivers pull up and let everyone off, and then shut the door in your face and take a 10-15 minute nap before continuing. This is part of their schedule. So don't get your hopes up if you see a bus waiting, and if it arrives, don't approach it if it's letting passengers off. I know the idea of the break is to keep with a time schedule, but that's ridiculous since it only takes a couple minutes on the route itself in LA traffic for the so-called timetable to be blown to pieces. As for service to LAX, the buses that connect to the terminals are not clearly marked, and I've had to point dozens of tourists with suitcases to the right bus bay after arriving on the train with looks of utter confusion. "But this is supposed to be the airport station right?". Theoretically, yes. And as a previous reviewer said, there's this stub of a platform spur pointing to the airport (which itself isn't even visible). It was the original plan to connect directly to the airport, but the evil taxi drivers union screwed the County and successfully lobbied to prevent it's construction. FYI, if you are arriving at LAX, the shuttle buses take about 10 minutes to reach this station. The green line goes south to the "beach cities" (but nowhere near actual beaches) and east through dangerous and decaying strip-mall filled residential neighborhoods along the median of the 105 freeway. To reach downtown, which is boring and nowhere near any tourist area, the green line at this station connects going eastbound to the blue line about 15 minutes away, which will slowly crawl up to 7th street station downtown in 45 more minutes of riding in a hot, dirty, crowded train. Those Santa Monica Blue Buses (once they actually let you on) will pick you up and take you along Lincoln blvd past Loyola Marymount University, Marina Del Rey, and eventually Santa Monica's promenade (an actual beach destination), but the ride takes up to 60 minutes from this station. I have never seen a sheriffs deputy here checking tickets or providing security, but they recently installed (unlocked) fare gates. read more

I lived previously in the apartments next to this station and also used the bus in order to shuttle to the airport several times. It's very convenient if you live or work nearby the station itself. It's always very busy, and there is a lot of noise from the train and alarms, but it was worth it for the convenience it gave me. read more

BOOM I take the train from here, to the blue line then to the redline. Others have said it here--the signage isn't great and the wait for city-bound buses can be annoying, and it's a pain that the city buses can't swing through the airport. On the other hand, the Big Blue to here is the least expensive airport trip I've seen anywhere in the world and it works as long as you check the bus schedule and leave ample time. read more

be extremely cautious when entering the parking lot for the station on the Imperial Hwy side...have nearly gotten run into by cars looking for parking as there are no stop signs for cars coming into the parking lot or for cars that are already inside the parking lot. Station looks fine when I pass through it on the green line. But the two times I tried to park in the station parking lot, it was completely full. The first time, after driving around for twenty minutes (along with many others doing the same) hoping that a spot would open up, I left and drove down to the only other station I know I could find parking, the Redondo Beach station. Aviation Train Station Green Line Like most train stations in L.A it's a bit of a hole in the wall but functional. Train in the daytime comes every 20 minutes. We bought a week pass each for $25 which means that we can travel the equivalent of 4 Zones (we go by geographical zones) in Vancouver. Vancouver is implementing the Tap system in full throttle in October, however, L.A. has been doing it for years. It's the exact same tap system everywhere else in the world. A tap card is only $1 yet they want to charge $6 in Vancouver? Also not once did Peter and I have to do the tap out bullshit that they're going to implement in Vancouver. I only had to tap in once and was able to take all 3 train lines to Encino. This just fuels my anger further for Translink in. My tap card is good for both buses and trains unlike Vancouver. Since it's the same company and system I am saving this card to load in Vancouver to save $5. I have 6 more empty tap cards at home from passed LA trips. Traveling takes longer but it's cheaper. read more

This park n ride is the worst since airport employees have been parking there to avoid paying the $45 monthly parking fee at the airport lots. I thought that in order to ride the shuttle to the airport one had to present a metro ticket that one had purchased but I guess not. I thought this lot was for commuters but evidently not. I have been parking there since 2004 to take the bus downtown and now I can't get a spot at 6:30 in the moring. When I contacted Metro regarding the problem, like a typical government agency they deferred to TSA and then threw Caltrans under the bus. Basically Metro said they can't do anything about it. This station is sort of considered one of the main train stations in LA. From this one you can pretty much access all around LA as long as you know the connections and change the trains. I personally liked the metro system here with all the coverage area, frequency and finally the extended connections with bus system. Trains leave on time and arrives on time and usually not that crowded. read more

I love the green line but I hate the Metro 625. Charge $1.50 to literally go 1.5 mi?!?!? Yeah, I can walk to my destination but come on. If they would have built the green line correctly it would go to destinations where people actually work. And each time i have rode it the bus driver has a bad attitude.
