Half BBQ chicken with collard greens, onion rings and hushpuppies
    Tina C.

Placed online order using restaurant's website. Requested curbside pickup. Arrived 5 minutes before pickup time. Waiting far longer than my 2.30 pickup time I went inside. No greeting, no acknowledgement whatsoever. Male employee counting dollar bills on counter. Did not say anything to me. I requested my curbside order. Told 'when I've done counting". Um, No! Got my order. No apology for not being brought to curbside. No thank you. Nothing. Food:- Orders pork belly tacos with FFs. $10.99. 2 small soft taco with 3 inch strip of pork, queso, pico and spicy ranch. Flavorless is an understatement. Only thing that had any taste was the question which dominated the dish. No pico or spicy ranch anywhere. FFs were cold and soggy. Also ordered the half BBQ chicken plate with 2 sides and hushpuppies and choice of sauce. $13.99 I went with collard greens and onion rings. Again food was cold. The hushpuppies would have made great golf balls. The collars were swimming in juice despite me requested they be drained well. The chicken had a good tangy glaze, unfortunately it was only on the skin which was not crispy but rather soft and unappealing. The chicken itself was reasonably tender seeing how it was cold. The BBQ sauce had not flavored the chicken meat which lacked any flavor at all. I had requested silverware, napkins etc along with my choice of BBQ sauce. All of which were missing from my order. To sum up. Poor service, lack of attention to order requirements, food not kept under warmer, overpriced and most importantly, flavorless. Doubt I will recommend to any family and friends.

The food was under cooked. Too way too long to get to my table. The employees were rude.

The banana pudding was a complete miss for me. I honestly wouldn't consider it traditional banana pudding. The texture and taste just weren't there, and I would skip it altogether. Ironically, the most enjoyable part of the meal was the store-bought rolls with the honey for dipping. Fresh food is a great start, but Southern food is about flavor. Unfortunately, this meal just didn't deliver for me.

I visited in March when I was vacationing and visiting family in NC and SC. I grew up in Bennettsville in the 70's and 80's , not far from here. My family never went here , so this was my first time trying it. I was told by many people in the comments of my videos that it's not the same as it was years ago. I guess they don't put honey in the batter anymore , supposedly because some people may have allergies. I was also told you can ask for honey to put on yourself , but I wasn't told or offered honey for my chicken when I ordered it. I ordered a 2 piece white , with rice and gravy , mashed potatoes and gravy , roll , banana pudding , and a soda. I was happy they gave me 2 breasts instead of a breast and wing. The breast were kind of small , but with the rest of the meal it filled me up. The chicken was okay , not juicy but not dry either. I was disappointed the batter had no honey flavor , but as I said I didn't know that they no longer put it on the batter , you have to ask for a side of honey. After I was finished my meal , I passed a gentleman at his table putting honey on his so I was like dang it ! The rice and gravy was kind of bland and so was the mashed potatoes and gravy. I did add pepper to both. The roll was your standard pre-made roll not homemade. Banana Pudding was a huge disappointment. Southern banana pudding is supposed to shine , but this tasted like out the box bland pudding with some Nilla Waffers on top and No Bananas. The dining room was clean except the drink fill area could've used a wipe down. There are some old posters of Yogi Bear cartoons and a stuffed Yogi Bear near the front counter above the Boo Boo boxes. The old style menu is behind the counter with no electronics like back in the day and specials are posted on the wall. The iconic neon sign is out front with Yogi holding a chicken drumstick. Service was okay , not Southern Hospitality , but not rude either like I've read a few others have said. It was an experience of stepping back in time , but the food was disappointing. I hope it stays in business for years to come , but personally it was a one time deal for me.
