When one of them stopped blowing cool or hot air, I called a large, well-known local service company. They replaced the blower motor, which didn't fix it, and then they told me the whole unit was worn out and needed to be replaced. The coils were freezing up, and water was running everywhere. I couldn't afford to replace it, so I turned it off and lived with it. When my second central unit stopped cooling, I called McMullen Services, Inc., who had very good reviews on Angie's list. They came out, and found a freon leak, which they fixed. They then added freon, and the unit worked great. I then asked them to take a look at the other non-working unit. I described the problem, and what the other company had done. He turned the unit on, checked the blower motor, and diagnosed and repaired the problem in five minutes, using no parts, and now my AC works great. He explained that most blower motors are bi-directional. The previous company had set up the new motor running the wrong way! So the coils froze, water ran everywhere, and no air, cold or hot, was produced. He reversed the fan's direction, and the problem was solved. Then, he wouldn't let me pay him for the repair! I am so grateful to McMullen! They are professional, fast and honest. If your AC/Heat isn't working, call McMullen. I'm so glad I did.
