Interesting little desert oasis with natural hot springs surrounded by palm trees. The area feels peaceful and surprisingly green for being in the middle of the desert. There are a few small soaking pools fed by the spring where people can relax. The place is very rustic though. Facilities are minimal and the pools are simple, so don't expect a resort-style experience. It feels more like a local hidden spot than a developed attraction. Worth checking out if you're curious about natural hot springs and don't mind rough conditions. Just come with the right expectations. read more

I didn't actually enter the Hot Springs, but it got close enough to check the place out. Curiosity had the best of me when I discovered there is a hot spring in Holtville, CA! You can see the 8 freeway from the entrance to the hot spring. Very easy access with a large dirt parking lot. A dirt, gravel trail leads to the entrance. Free admission. It's small. There were many people when we arrived. The hot spring is surrounded in a grove of palm trees. There is a large fountain/shower. It looks like it could be a cozy place. I would worry about how sanitary it may or may not be. read more

Off the side of the road. Easy to get to. Well maintained with shower and multiple tubs.

While driving on the I-8 going west, on the side of the road I noticed an oasis with a hot spring. To get there exit Van Der Linden Rd. (Exit 131). The water area is surrounded by palm trees. The pool is filled with water and there is a geothermal underground that heats it up. I didn't have a chance to get inside the pool but maybe next time. It's a cool area to explore. read more

Super cool! Wish I would've known about this conveniently located off i8 hot spring earlier. It looked industrial-like with deep rectangular pools in the ground. There was a ~6ft pool with a ladder, and a 2nd smaller pool with a pipe connecting the two. Water was umbrellaing out of a metal pipe. It was a bit too hot actually! So I put a big block that was there on top of the pipe to let the existing water off cool.After about 10 minutes, the water had cooled down enough to hop in. You feel amazing after the hot water. If you're ever driving from Tucson to San Diego consider making a stop here. read more

When it's 100 degrees outside at 8pm and no one else around the hot springs offer a sort of private retreat. When the air temp is this hot the waters spurting from the pipes are pretty hot too but not unbearably. It's just a nice natural spot to enjoy and even more so when deserted. The algae is there on the walls and floor of the pool but you get used to it. read more

While working out in the Imperial county, I try to visit this delightful geo-thermal pool as often as possible. So relaxing and no charge! Yelp reviewer Bob W.'s review on 7/9/14 was a very accurate review. Some locals who have posted reviews saying shady things go on there, have not been observed by me nor my friends/coworkers, or family. It does have a eire feeling at night, as there is no lighting in the fenced in area( closest lighting is about a 30 yard walk up a small incline back to the parking lot/public restroom/changing room area.) Bring a flashlight at night, to light your foot steps/path to and from the gated natural geothermal pools. It can be a popular spot in the cooler evening. I personally have seen upwards of 20+people in this "pool/spa recently. But, more often than not, there's been fewer than 5 people enjoying their heated hydro experience. I'll be back read more

This has been closed due to some campers setting it ablaze and BLM has no plans to re-open it. I was just about to jump in when a Ranger came by and told us and others that we can view it but we couldn't stay. So bummed. But it's beautiful. read more

Free hot spring wonderland, there's a lil 'shower' to rinse off before and after entering the pools to keep them nice for everyone. Pools were very clean, you can tell someone has scrubbed them recently. We went sans clothes along with one or two others although everyone else seemed to be wearing suits at 6am. Had a lovely time, going back for another lil dip after breakfast, will definitely be returning when coming back to the area next year :) Side note- didn't swim in the lagoon there is a no swimming sign but it was so pretty to walk around read more

Disgusting. Just plain disgusting. Unless you want a staph infection, stay far away. Full of weird desert people and algae, supposedly cleaned once a month but it's completely green. Also, the hot water is piped in from I'm guessing a filter from the real hot spring, which looks like an excessive amount of diarrhea a few paces to the right. It's in the middle of nowhere, and has the only "bathroom" for miles. For a pit toilet, the toilets aren't all too terrible, but a "local" told us they're the only toilets he uses and he uses them only once a day since when the sun really gets up there, the pits "BUBBLE AND BOIL" Boiling toilets aren't my thing to be completely honest. STAY AWAY DEADH BODIES ARE FOUND HERE EVERY SO OFTEN... This is what the BLM rangers told us! After thinking we were medicinally soaking in hot spring water BLM rangers told us that they find dead bodies inside the water every so often, and that a lot of elder folks that soak in there require dippers or pee and poop inside the water. From my point of view this place was just one big homeless shower facility. Plus the water was all dark and pool walls were green. No running water just a couple hoses that fill up the pool. Technically, the name of this place is Highline Hot Well. It is not a naturally occurring spring, but is a drilled well that continuously flows with hot mineral water. There is a large pipe that produces a shower and the air cools off the water; otherwise it would be too hot for soaking. Sadly, the pipe gets vandalized, broken or stolen on a regular basis. The snowbirds who camp all winter in the campground across the street take it upon themselves to clean up this place and keep the pipe in working order. And for that I salute them. Normally they drain the tubs every Tuesday for cleaning. So on Tuesdays this area might not be usable. In the summer months it is not cleaned at all, and if the pipe is broken or stolen it depends on local volunteers to fix it. Hours are 5 am to midnight, every day of the year. In the cooler months it's crowded with snowbirds but in the hot months it can be deserted, especially during the heat of the day. Pretty nice on a summer evening, though, if there is a cool breeze. Look up at the stars and listen to the trucks passing on Interstate 8 just yards away. This is not really one of those quiet, remote hot springs where you seek solitude and tranquility. It's a very social place, with people coming and going most of the time. If you expect to be meditating as you soak, be prepared for your meditation to be interrupted at any time by rather noisy groups. Use Van Der Linden Road exit from I-8, which is about 15 miles east of the center of El Centro. (I think it's exit 130.) Go to the north side of I-8, and take the side road east (Evan Hewes Highway). Just after you cross over the canal, the dirt parking lot will be on your right. There is a new toilet building now, with 2 relatively clean vault toilets. Walk down to the fenced-in area for the pools. The main pool is a concrete tub large and deep enough for maybe 10 people total. It has algae on the sides and the water is very hot. That drains into a small, shallow tub that is cooler and popular with the kids. Then all the water drains to a lagoon surrounded by palm trees which is cool. There is a sign that says No Swimming. Someone mentioned that the lagoon contains blue-green algae which is toxic to humans. During the day you can walk around the southwest side of the lagoon and see several spots where tar seeps up naturally from the ground. In the large, hot concrete tub is a valve you can open and close to adjust the flow of water into it. If you open it, more hot water will flow in and the tub will get hotter. If it is closed, more water is diverted to the shower pipe, so the shower gets stronger (and cooler, if the spray is directed upward). At night it is very dark in the pool area but the parking area is well-lit. Please don't leave cups or trash. There are trash cans at the parking lot. The water here is very soothing and has only a very slight sulfur smell, and various other minerals in it. It's pretty rejuvenating. And it's free. read more

The water is really warm, but it's very small. It's not a natural mineral spa, it's been cemented and they have the natural mineral water being pumped in and then it drains into a mini lagoon behind it. The lagoon has a few fish and it's nice but on a very small scale. The locals say there is a nudist colony across the way at the long term rv park. Not going to be coming back, but I needed to put on on the map. read more

This place gets points for being pretty cool, in spite of it's wacky location right off the freeway. Sort of a throwback to better days, this municipal hot spring feels like a soviet watering hole. It's a fun novelty that people like to show to friends. read more

We came here at about 9pm the day of the lowest glow event. Last week of October 2017. It was hard to find it because the directions given through here on yelp are not super accurate. It is the same road that it leads you to but the destination is actually before the direction say. If you're driving east, the hot springs are to the right where the bathroom area is at. You have to park there and walk down by where the trees are at. It was so nice going at night! No one was there for about 10 minutes then a few people showed up but everyone was pretty respectful. the hot springs is okay. be sure to watch for the bad activity that happens during the time of night or when the snowbirds are not there. it is different since i have been going there since i was in junior high. people do swim naked out there. the rangers do come as i have been told. read more
