Of course, this is around peak hours... Say 4-7pm. One squat rack. One smith machine. One leg press. These areas are typically occupied. But don't get me wrong, you can get a work out here, you just have to be patient, wait your turn, or ask politely to work in. No changing/locker rooms. Just two bathrooms. Biggest plus: everyone is fucking nice. Way to go Brawley! Who knew this was a breeding ground for polite and kind people. Biggest minus: texting is not considered part of a work out. Lots of fingers furiously flying across little keypads. You'd think there were some texting Olympiad coming up.

I've given them my ID countless times, and they still claim they "don't have my photo" in their system. That is their failure, not mine. I scan the QR code like every other member, but they act like the scanner can't be trusted and treat me like I'm going through TSA security. They question me every single time as if I'm not even a member. Who do they think they are? Even after I transferred my home club exactly as they demanded, nothing changed -- they still keep checking my ID like a checkpoint authority. The attitude here is rigid, unwelcoming, and completely out of line. They treat their "own" members differently and make Black Card members from other clubs feel unwelcome. And let's be honest: I'm done with this toxic place. I will never come back. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. Stay far away. Most of their clubs are poorly maintained, the hygiene is terrible, and the equipment is far from professional. The only reason I joined Planet Fitness in the first place was because they had many convenient locations -- but at this point, I'd rather not work out at all than step into a place like this again.

People here accept low quality. Clearly, they do not realize that they, as loyal customers, are the lifeblood of businesses. I am criticizing how ridiculous it is for a gym not to offer its members free water. I am also criticizing how expensive these out-dated places are. (All of the private gyms I have been to in Imperial County are outdated and overpriced.) Rent here in Imperial County is extremely cheap compared to the rest of California. Yet these outdated little gyms charge $10-$20 more than large, clean, modern gyms in expensive areas. (Those gyms all have locker rooms with showers, and many have additional amenities such as pools, dry saunas, steam, etc.) Unfortunately in many cases people in this community pay more and get much less. The winds of change are blowing. One day, people in this community will have nice things like everyone else in California. How fast that day comes depends on us.

Pool is nice but small. * I just changed my rating from 4* to 2* because the treadmills were breaking down and instead of getting new ones, they got replaced with OLD treadmills. Who does that? That would never fly in a bigger city where there's more competition. For $49 a month, I think the customers deserve better than that.

The schedule says there is an advanced class . . . on Friday nights, when those who can escape to cities with actual yoga studios. I will not be returning.
