Would not recommend at all! Ruined our bow move. Booked a reservation a week in advance for a move and the day of they're supposed to show up at noon - they don't confirm until I text them and say they're running a few mins late - okay fine understand. then an hour goes by and they say 2:30. Now I'm upset but I get it. At 3 pm they tell me they're still at another place and are 30 mins out wrapping up. 4pm rolls around and have not heard from them. No shows. Absolutely horrible experience. They definitely overbooked and instead of being honest they ruined our move . 0/10. Very unprofessional. I had to canceled once 4pm rolled around after our noon schedule move was rescheduled multiple times. I fully understand stuff happens but just be honest from the beginning with how long & if the reservation is actually set In place because I would of gotten another mover who would of showed up on time. I've moved four times in the past ten years and most of them were a complete nightmare with the companies we hired. things broken, missing, over charged at the last minute. I once waited three weeks in an empty house for the movers to arrive! Holy City Movers were amazingly fast, yet handled my things as if they were their own. they were timely, professional, courteous and the charge was more than fair. By far the worst move we've ever had, and the most expensive!! I hired Holy City Moving after the owner, Bradford, promised they would have us loaded, transported, and unloaded on the same day (4 1/2 hour drive to new location). Well, like they say, if it sounds too good to be true...it is. Our $3200 flat rate, one day move, turned into $5,000 fiasco and ultimately took a week to get all our belongings. Broken promises, insincere apologies, lies, mishaps, miscalculations, lateness, damaged furniture (we didn't even bother reporting as we just wanted to get this experience behind us), $725 stolen cash--Bradford hired a day laborer from the Walmart parking lot, the things just went on and on. It makes me really sad to be this company's one bad review. One star is 100% deserved here though. I scheduled our move a few weeks ago and we were supposed to be the first move at the day. HCM was scheduled to be at my house at 7 am. So we get up very early the morning of, break all the furniture down, take our two toddlers and dogs to the grandparents, and we are ready to move at 7. Then no one shows up. I give them 30 minutes and then text the owner Bradford. He doesn't respond. 15 minutes later, I call (it's almost 8am now) and wake him up. He said they did a move until late last night and aren't going to make it at our scheduled time. He didn't want to text me last night but he was clearly okay to let us get up at the crack of dawn without a heads up we didn't need to. Moving on.... okay you are going to be a little late. We try to be understanding. He says they have to finish the move from the previous night, should be here by 9:30. Okay. So we take a few loads of boxes and smaller things to the new house. We wait for a call. It doesn't come. It's 10:45. I text Bradford again for an update. He said, 'it's taking longer than we thought, working on getting to you soon. Should be 2 pm.' "Maybe earlier." Okay... we wait. We keep moving more stuff and start wondering how we are going to move a 2,500 sq foot house in the awful heat, middle of the day. So we keep making trips until we hear from the moving company. The thing is, we never heard from them again. Not one time. I texted Bradford again, after 2 pm, saying we really need them here please. They are over 7 hours late! No response. Texted again over an hour and a half later (to tell them we are no longer going with their services) and still, no response. We have not received a text, phone call, or email from Holy City Movers. They not once tried to explain the situation to us or even just say they couldn't do it. He barely communicated at all the entire day! I understand having to finish a move the next day unexpectedly. We were fine with it. We just would have appreciated a heads up when the time was being pushed further and further back. I shouldn't have to contact you for a service booked weeks ago. Being a professional means having the "I'm sorry" conversation when you are most uncomfortable and in the wrong. I have heard wonderful things about this company but am ASTOUNDED at the lack of service, concern, and professional work ethic we received today. Would NOT recommend. read more

I made the mistake of hiring Bradford Dutton's company, Holy City Moving. Beware that you get what you pay for. If you want your move done when contractually agreed upon and want your belongings to remain unbroken, dry, and clean, you should hire a more established company. While I am very aware that mistakes happen and this is a terribly hard time for any business to operate and staff appropriately, I was unable to excuse all of the blunders because of Bradford's terrible communication skills and repeated lies. Here are the highlights of my experience in order to help you to make an informed decision about the next company you choose to help you with your move: -I was only told two minutes before the scheduled arrival time that the movers would be late -The team could not accurately pin point how late they would be, with the time getting later and later each time I followed up -They ultimately arrived four hours late -Within the first hour of the move there was a shouting match in front of my house that resulted in an employee quitting on the spot -The move was unable to be completed on the day it was scheduled because of staffing issues -Our couch was filthy from the moving truck, and one section was mysteriously soaked on one side -Our desk was broken -Bradford and I had multiple verbal agreements about how I would be charged after the move was completed because of all of the problems and he did not honor them; I was also charged for mileage on a trip that never happened -I repeatedly tried to contact Bradford for two months to solve the discrepancies on the invoice and he never responded. Rather than responding to my detailed explanations of our previous conversations, he ignored them and ultimately sent me a note that he would be sending the bill to to to collections. read more

I used HCM for help unloading a Uhaul truck as I was moving to Charleston. Bradford was extremely friendly, flexible and easy to work with as we coordinated the move. He was able to coordinate a couple of enthusiastic movers who came and helped me unpack my truck. Despite the 3 hour quote we were able to get in done in under an hour. Communicated several ways with his company to schedule my move, and when I called to confirm, Bradford said I wasn't on the calendar at all that week and rudely acted like I had never really called them or had done something wrong. Sold our house in a quick cash sale, we closed within 7 days of the offer. I reached out to Bradford at Holy City Movers and he could not have made it easier. We set up the move on 4 days notice. Bradford and his team showed early, were quick and efficient, nice guys and hard workers all! Pricing was slightly less than other quotes I received. We had hoped to be moved in one day, but since it was an entire house, with a considerable distance between old and new (Summerville to Mount Pleasant) they were unable to finish in one day.
