We used these guys in the past and had good service so we hired them again earlier this summer to load/pack a 28' upack.com semi trailer for our move. When they couldn't figure out how to use the ramp that came with the trailer it should have been a red flag... they decided to load the trailer without the ramp, just lifting everything up. Odd, but not a big deal for me. We bought/provided over 60 moving blankets and a dozen paper pads for our furniture to be wrapped up safely. Part of the labor we hired them for was to wrap the furniture with these pads. They wrapped a couple of pieces but didn't really tape the blankets around.. just a couple of loops of shrink wrap and they called it done. We started seeing them move furniture out of the house unwrapped and when we questioned them, we were told they were wrapping the furniture in the trailer, that they had taken a bunch of the blankets out already. We were basically told to relax, they had it under control. We didn't rush the guys.. they were getting paid by the hour so there was no reason to rush, but they were done fairly quickly. But not after almost punching a hole in our drywall when they lost control of a dresser coming down the stairs. I had to run to Lowe's to pick up stuff to patch the multiple large dents (not dings, dents!) in the drywall and they didn't offer to cover that. Not a huge deal... it was like $10 in stuff from Lowe's. Fast forward a week later and the trailer is down in Florida ready to be unloaded. I opened the door and found a couple of broken ceramic pots laying up against the door. Ok, not the end of the world... but they weren't wrapped at all. Then I saw stacks of blankets... many of them still in the plastic wrap that they came in (new, unused). Then I noticed we had furniture that just had a blanket draped over it but not even secured to it. There were grease marks on furniture where they were resting up against garage tools -- with no blankets around the furniture at all! My $3000 pottery barn sectional couch was even being used as a prop to hold up a bicycle... by the pedal (see picture!) To this day I have no idea how the bike pedal did not puncture the fabric of the couch... but it only dented it. A miracle. There was other minor damage to furniture... dining room table legs unwrapped banging up against each other. Really.. .nothing between them. Why wouldn't they use the blankets we had available for them to use?? Another questionable choice was leaning a concrete bench end up against my leather sofa with nothing in between (see picture!). Even the sofa cushions were taken and wedged between the wall of the trailer and other furniture.. leaving grease and other dirt on the couch pillows and cushions. Oh and they broke a leg off of a dresser... and i had a sign taped to the front saying it had a weak leg. Didn't matter, apparently. Long story short - everything that we packed and boxed up made the trip just fine. But the things they were paid to wrap up and load were haphazardly put in the truck, unwrapped with blankets even though we had 2 dozen left over unused! They were just straight up lazy. You can use these guys to move you into a new place or unload some heavy equipment.... but if you care about your furniture and goods then I wouldn't recommend them at all. I stewed about this for a while trying to decide if it was better to just keep silent and leave no review or to speak out and warn others. read more

I've now used Low Country Moving for both big household moves as well as a tiny one. Today I needed a single item moved. It was a dining table with a heavy glass top. I didn't trust our vehicles to transport it over the bumpy SC roads so I called Low Country Moving. I got an excellent price from them and delivery date set up quickly. The movers were friendly and very careful with our walls and doors. They were wearing protective face masks the whole time. They were also observant about small details like wiping their feet, making sure I liked the placement of the item, double checking to make sure all the debris was gone, and explaining the bill to me. These people were awesome... best move ever! We were moving from a temporary living arrangement in an apartment while we had a new home built. The movers that moved us in there messed up much of our furniture and then cancelled on us at the last minute for the final move to the new house. Low Country was recommended by a friend and ended up doing our final move. The guys showed up on time with lots of muscle plus the best attitude I have seen in a moving crew. Most of our belongings had to go upstairs with a 180 turn around staircase. They did it all with zero damage to anything. I have moved all over the US and the world. I've used this company twice, and both times they were fantastic. The first experience I had, they did have to move my time due to a storm the day before, but offered an extra guy for free for having to reschedule. This made my move that much more efficient. My second experience, they moved my then-boyfriend and I (we were in separate units) from our apartment complex to our new house. Super quick and careful with our stuff. Booking is made easily online or by phone--you can book the number of movers you want for the amount of time you need them and pay all at once. This by far is the rudest company I have ever encountered. Very unprofessional. Hired them to come and help with moving boxes and furniture. Granted we may not have been the most organized people but that's no excuse for coming in to a home and constantly Badgering how we aren't prepared to move and we should have read the contract. They broke a very expensive piece of furniture that belonged to my grandmother. And claimed it was a Raggedy old piece of furniture, along with a piece of furniture that also belong to my grandmother that held wine glasses and other things . I called them after not hearing from any one in two weeks and the so called manager was nothing but extremely rude. The last we spoke they were contacting a 3rd party to come out and fix our furniture. Then some how today he claims they will be mailing us a check for 60 cent per pound of the " furniture weight". These guys are awesome and super friendly! I hired four guys to help us move since my husband was away for work on the day of our move. They unloaded a 15' POD like unit that was packed as full as it could get in about an hour moving half the items up to our 4th floor rental. They had loaded the rest of the boxes into their truck very carefully and took them over to our storage unit (just a few miles away) again arranging them carefully. They were done in about an hour and a half and made the process of moving seem like nothing. We are planning to move out of our rental within a year once we purchase a home in the area and I will without a doubt be giving them a call as they were FANTASTIC! read more

I need to warn potential customers that we had a really bad experience with Low Country Movers. They caused an estimated $1,000 damage to our furniture (the average of 2 quotes). We were asked to provide quotes to repair the damage which I provided in early January 2023. I heard nothing back. When I finally got through to a representative, he told me he would review the quotes and get back to me. He did not. After several days had elapsed, I called back again. He said he had lost the quotes and I would need to resend them which I did the same day. He again failed to get back to me and I have not received any email or phone call since I mailed him the bill for repair that I have already paid along with a letter outlining the steps I have taken to get a response to the quotes. I at least expected a rejection of the quotes. With respect to the move, we were required to label all boxes with the contents and the rooms where they should be placed in the new apartment in our retirement community. When they were delivered, the boxes were placed randomly so we had to relocate most of them. The rental truck was much smaller than the one that moved us previously, so contents were jammed in requiring three reloading efforts of the last items to get the truck doors closed. We were promised 5 workers to unload the truck but only 2 showed up on time, the others were an hour late. I began to try to get a quote response from Low Country in November 2022 and have finally given up today, February 21st, 2023. I guess because they are located in SC and we are in PA they decided to ignore my requests for reimbursement for the damages they caused. read more

I moved from West Ashley to a challenging location downtown - limited parking, small elevators, lots of traffic. To make matters worse, rain was in the forecast and we had some torrential downpours in the middle of the move, so add flooding to the list of downtown challenges. The guys at LCM were phenomenal. I was contacted a couple days ahead, which is comforting, given I've had previous movers who showed up so late for a move I was convinced they forgot to write me down. On move day, they arrived about 15 minutes early so they were fully pulled in and ready to go at 9. They were friendly and efficient, protecting my stuff from the elements when the skies opened up. I've had bad experiences with movers in the past, but these guys were great and I would certainly use them again. read more

This is the worst move we have ever experienced. Multiple pieces of furniture were broken or damaged in some way. In addition to many scratches on almost new pieces of furniture (which they blamed on a shortage of moving blankets), they broke a leg off of a large Restoration Hardware dresser and the frame of a swivel arm chair. The person they sent to our home to repair the scratches was professional and did a pretty good job of repairing scratches, but the other pieces had to be sent to a company they use for furniture repairs. We eventually got our dresser back, but we still do not have the arm chair which was part of a set. The move was in January. It is now May, and we cannot get this company to return our chair and they are not responding to text messages or voicemails. We have some white sofas and arm chairs which they told us would be wrapped in blankets and plastic. The chairs and sofas were wrapped, but the cushions were not. The cushions were just packed on the truck unprotected and were filthy when they arrived at our new home. If you care about the condition of your furniture, we cannot recommend this company at all. read more

We've moved several times and this one was the hardest on our furniture due to the carelessness or perhaps inexperience of the 5 man crew. Four pieces of furniture had to be "repaired" by someone who really isn't a furniture repair person. One piece, a 3 drawer chest, was dropped as they were rolling it off the truck and this marred the front with a road rash. They owned up right away and sent someone to repair it. This person was not a furniture repair professional, but did the best possible with furniture markers and wood putty. No one called me back to ask about the repair to hear if I was satisfied. The other pieces have chips and deep scratches on the surfaces. We had one box that has been dropped and everything inside (crock pot and casserole dishes) were totally busted. To say I'm really disappointed is an understatement. I do not recommend this company to anyone who invests on their furniture. read more

I hired Low Country Moving based on a glowing review from a friend. Unfortunately I didn't have an equally good experience. My move was scheduled for a Friday morning, on Monday I got a call offering a $20 reduction in price if I moved my move to Wednesday afternoon between 12-1, of course I agreed!! First they didn't arrive on that Wednesday until 1:48, they were excessively slow (carrying one small lamp a trip), used their cell phones, and had to be asked to wrap my 3 large TV's in moving cloths and plastic. Nothing else was wrapped, no furniture, no glass... nothing. The move lasted 4 hours only bc we put all our boxes in one room and moved them ourselves. Finally that night I found garbage outside my garage that they left. Overall I wouldn't recommend this company because you are only as good as the employees you hire. read more

First I want to say that the actual movers did a great job, once they actually arrived. I waited for over an hour and half for them to show up. Not only did that put a hiccup in the rest of my day, I was then charged for 2 hours after only 45 minutes of work. Technically I was there over 2 hours after waiting so I feel as if I was ripped off. Management was not friendly and I will not be using them again. I decided to call the company first just to ask a few questions about their moving process and their availability. The guy on the phone was a complete douchebag! Very rude and unprofessional! I started explaining on what furniture we needed to move, as he rudely interrupted saying the he didn't need to know all that, and then a minute later he started asking what type of couch we had and other questions about our furniture! He had the worst attitude throughout the remainder of the conversation. If this is the best representation of their company, I can only imagine how horrible the service they provide is!
