    Pasta to your heart desires!
    Christophe F.

Very interesting place reminding me of the Marche restaurants in Toronto. Makes me wonder who copied who since both are Swiss. Anyway, the similarities are in the fact that you receive a card upon entering the place and go choose what you want and th food is prepared right in front of you. Very fresh products, tasty food, great service and a very nice atmosphere (a touch of modern, with wide open spaces, great lighting and beautiful decor). The pasta I had was full of flavours and cook to perfection. I had the 'death by chocolate' cake as dessert and true to its name it's a killer! A delicious soft piece of chocolate mousse accompanied by fresh strawberries. I also had an espresso and true to other places where I tried it in Switzerland it was impeccable! Great place and the only reason it doesn't get a five star rating is that the menu isn't for those on a budget. It's not expensive by any means, especially for Swiss standards, but it's certainly not the most affordable option. All in all a fantastic place, right next to the train station and minutes walk from downtown.

While I was in Lausanne Switzerland, my boyfriend and I happened to stumble upon this place while we were looking for a place to eat one night. I really enjoyed the concept of this place and how many different options they had for you to choose from. You take a plastic card at the beginning, one per person, go up to the station you want, order, and then they cook your food and you scan the card on the sensor and it loads your order. You eat and then pay at the end. I ended up choosing the Risotto con Speck, which had a variety of different things in it (tomatoes, peas, carrots, bacon, and things I cant remember) and boy was it delicious. The portion size was also a good one and it left me feeling satisfied and full. Definitely quite the place and I'm glad we went. My boyfriend and I went back to Vapiano again a few nights later with a friend, and he enjoyed it just as much as we did. Also, no one is hovering over you to see how you're doing or to rush you into leaving, which is nice. It's a very nice atmosphere as well. If I were fo ever go back to the area, I will definitely make it a point to stop here for a meal.

Cool place that won't break the bank. It reminded a little of a college cafeteria, with all of the little stations you could go to to get different types of food or drinks. But not in a bad way. Young hip crowd. I got a pizza, with high hopes - only part of which were met. I guess it just felt a little cheap. I think overall I would return to try the pasta, but mostly because the price to value ratio is in the sweet spot.

Great quality food and fresh ingredients. Food is being prepared in front of you and you get to choose the combination of pasta and sauce you like. The environment is pleasant and staff friendly. Portions are generous and prices reasonable. The only downside is the long standing queue that you have to undertake for every dish you want during rush hours. All things considered a great place for a pleasant meal.

I was very satisfied, great open kitchen concept and great food. I really enjoyed it . The pizza is made just like in Italy, thin and savory. I will def go back for the pizza

    Pesto Con Spinaci avec saumon

Twice in four days, tried several items while visiting this location. All were very tasty, the Carbonara saumon, YUMMY! And the Pizza choice: pesto con Spinaci avec saumon, even better. The Greek salad was absolutely awesome! We did not try the dessert too full from main items each time! I LOVE this location, may visit again before leaving Lausanne. The staff is wonderful and appear to love what hey are doing.

We can say something better than fast food. Fresh ingredients, nice service, nice prices. Ideal place for quick lunch with your friends or colleagues.

I didn't get a chance to ever eat the actual food here and only the pastries of which both were underwhelming. What's great about this spot is that it's cafeteria style. So you have stations and you can grab your tray and order at the made to order pizza station or curries or sandwich or juices. It was cool to see little mugs with chocolate pieces which you can get hot chocolate made in front of you. Seating can get crazy. Sometimes you'll have to share some tables because some tables are communal where we had an interesting encounter with three guys on their phones seemingly talking to someone on their phones....seemed like they were on speed dating or chat rooms. It was really interesting. Anyways, you may have trouble getting a large table, but be patient. There's also a restroom up here too which is nice. I wish I did get a chance to eat something other than the pastries, but at least it's cheap and fairly fast. If you want something faster, just go to the first floor and grab something from there.

OMG, how have I not discovered Manora before, and why have I not been eating lunch here EVERY DAY??…read more Manora is a food court covering a good portion of the 4th floor Manor Department Store. But don't let the "food court" description fool you, this is not your boring pizza-chicken-or-burger type of joint. The restaurant is comprised of islands of food stations, where they will cook/prepare your food behind the counter as you wait. The pizza station has bowls and bowls of fresh ingredients that you can choose yourself, the grill station has sausages, pork chops, skewers, schnitzels, and much more. You can either choose a fresh cut and wait while they grill it for you, and grab a pre-grilled portion if you're not feeling the wait. Nice sandwiches, an extensive salad bar, espresso station, and an enormous counter of desserts, asian stir fry station, and pretty much anything you can think of. The presentation is tremendously appealing, and prices are reasonable (I got away with a nice cut of fresh pork chop and a side serving of rice and grilled broccoli for about CHF16.50). Dining mate had jambalaya, which, as she put it, hadn't quite decided whether it wanted to be cajun or Asian (cajian...?). It's not the highest quality of food you can find, but I definitely did not feel like I was being gypped of my money, a feeling I get way too often here in Geneva. The very presentation of the food, and the option of creating my own dish piece-meal (and thereby having control over how much I actually spend) was almost an empowering experience, food-wise. We also had the whipped tiramisu and apple crumble, both sinfully delicious. It gets crowded during lunch, but it's mostly eat-and-go traffic, so you won't have to wait too long for a seat. Did I mention the panoramic view from the terrace on a sunny day is amazing?

When you go to the website, you're greeted by a little Che Guevara cow holding a spatula and a fork, inviting you to join the fast food revolution. I'm not sure what that's about, but the website is fairly in tune with the ambiance of the restaurant. There are comic cow paintings on the walls, a hilly pasture painted onto the counter, and friendly servers who will deliver your burgers to your table. There's an extensive menu of creative burgers, and I had the Mexicana burger - a beef patty, swiss cheese, chorizo, red bean salsa, avocado mash, and hot chili. I was wondering how they would fit all of that in a single burger--it turns out, they use a humongous bun, even under American standards. I got the "menu" menu (a "menu" menu is essentially a "meal" menu that includes fries and a drink, but I like saying "menu" menu), and the fries were so thickly cut that they almost make the burger look normal-sized in the photo. The burger came together pretty well, but you can't really go wrong with those ingredients. The bun was OK but not anything above standard (except for its size), and the beef patty was a bit dry and crumbly for my taste. The chorizo was a flat sheet of round sausage that tasted OK but had a rubbery texture. The hot chili was actually really spicy, and had me gasping a little bit for air. It was a fun burger to eat, overall, but probably not the best quality of ingredients. I also had a fountain drink (cassis?), which I was told was made in-house, but it was a little sweet for my taste. I'd recommend a go if you haven't been, but it probably wouldn't end up becoming a favorite hangout or anything of that sort. Probably a good place to grab a pre-movie bite, though.

Well, it's only a short hop on the tram so off we went. We weren't disappointed. Service is fast and with a smile. A reasonable selection of veggie burgers and a great meat selection. The food was plentiful but not 5-star amazing. The meat burgers aren't the tastiest ever but on a day like this they were good enough. Chips are the so called ancienne style so more like chunky chips than fries. Ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard are all freely available but be warned - the yellow mustard is fairly weak. On the set meal there's a choice of drinks and we had the refillable sirops - raspberry, Alpine herbs, elderflower and apple & ginger. Pay a bit extra for beers (the legendary Dr Gab's craft beers from Lausanne are well worth it).

On my first visit, without a reservation, I was seated on the side in a nice and quiet area, which allowed me to see the huge case of desserts, take out coffee station, etc. In addition, there is food for take out, order from the menu or some nice sandwiches, salads and soups. On that maiden visit I ordered the plat du jour, eggplant parmesan....delicious, perfectly cooked eggplant and tasty sauce. I also tasted my colleagues plate, moussaka...very good as well. On my second visit, today, I was a group of 9 (with reservation), we sat in a nice private seating area, still visible to the main dining room...here I also chose the plat du jour...did not get the name, but it was a slow cooked beef in an oniony tomato sauce, served with mashed potatoes and soup or salad. Again, delicious. Dessert...tiramisu..delicious. The wait staff, wow, super nice, smiling, attentive, fast...Fast is not the word, yes, we ordered the plat du jour so that is usually a fast item, but this was served with lightening speed. A truly enjoyable meal again. As my office has the worst cafeteria in all of Geneva, I am super happy that this place is around the corner. They also are open until 11 so you can go after work for drinks and snacks...they do NOT close at 2 PM like other restaurants in the city....refreshing to find a business where they actually want to make money. It may be my happy hour location as well, stay tuned.
