The HES team is awesome. This is my second time working with them. The first was a relatively smaller wireless TV installation in our condo. The second was a in a recently moved-in home where we needed a TV installed over a fireplace (no wires!), audio / speaker installation, and home security install. I've worked with Brian and his A/V team for almost 20 years at three different homes. Latest project included a rough in of all A/V during a remodel as were upgrading and moving locations of the TV and all speakers, while leaving and re-using the existing components in the same closet. had a very large system installed poorly. Had them out multiple times over the course of the next year and it was never fixed and they stopped returning my calls. I would not do business with them again. if you scroll down, you'll see the owner always responds to negative reviews with a response. In my case, his response is far from accurate. In my opinion, he's OK installing and very poor at making sure the system works. Does not like to return to the house after installing and makes it very challenging only offering me like extremely early slots service was poor. After a year of having a broken system after paying $20,000, yes I got frustrated. You will find that this owner always has a story to tell it seems and doesn't take responsibility for poor installations at least in my case and the reviews that I read below. read more

I picked Home Entertainment Solutions because they received very good reviews. They lived up to the hype. Brian came out and listened to how I wanted to bring our system up to date. He made some excellent suggestions which I haven't considered before. In addition, I appreciated how he thought using some existing speakers would work well with the new system we had installed. Overall, the new television, sound system for music and the mesh WiFi system they installed provided us with a big upgrade from our older system. Most of all his team of installers were first class. Service so good I had to hijack my wife's yelp to write this! Second time around I've used Brian and his team at HES to install a theatre/media room. We did a projector, screen, cabinets, speakers & sub, as well as additional speakers downstairs and a Sonos system. They even did some wiring clean-up from the previous owners. Brian walked through the space and basically eyeballed the exact screen size, cabinet & speaker layout to maximize the space without taking measurements. His expertise in the industry really showed up and it couldn't have been more on point! It came out brilliantly! Service is also a big deal for them; so let me share a little story. After waiting for a bit longer than expected for the projector to come in (world we live in, not their fault) we get the room setup and ready to roll, and within minutes of hooking everything up for the first time the receiver short circuits & tanks!! Well guess how that was handled? He had the worlds best tech guru (thanks Peter!) show up at my door with a replacement within about an hour!! And I'm about 1.5 hours south from home base for them, so I'm not sure how he managed it!! Replaced, reconnected, & good times were rolling once again! Feel VERY comfortable you'll be taken care of at HES!Couldn't recommend them any higher for anything hi-fi, technology, home cinema related!! I had at least four other people come over to give me quotes to mount a Frame tv above our fireplace, hide the cords in our plaster walls, and run power to the area. No one seemed confident, some told me it couldn't be done. But I saw Brian's team working at a neighbors house and gave them a call, Brain showed up and I immediately knew he would take care of us! Our neighbor recommended Brian Ritchie to set up our home security system. Brian was superb all around from evaluating our situation to recommending a system to the installation. His team is likewise fantastic. Together they did a complete rundown of the project when they arrived so that everyone (my wife and I included) had all the details right. During the day my wife realized she wasn't happy with a specific feature but Peter and Charles were able to make modifications on the fly with no added expense that worked wonderfully. During all that I could hear my wife and the crew laughing and joking around and felt left out because I was working from home and couldn't join in the fun. They were all great (made sure to take their shoes off every single time despite lots of going in and out and were otherwise very professional). Brian and his crew are simply fantastic. Brian was selected by our general contractor to handle the AV and smart lighting / shades (Lutron switches and shades) for our remodel. This included adding in-ceiling speakers, wired/wifi networking, two wall mounted TV/home theater systems, Apple TVs, and Sonos. In addition to the original installation, we've had the team out for a handful of system upgrades and tweaks. The thing that stands out the most is the quality of the people. Brian's team are just good people - friendly, utmost integrity, professional, and obsessed with making you happy with your system. We've worked with Peter, James, Charles, and Wesley. They all consistently go above and beyond to make sure you understand the system and that everything is customized to your liking. Beyond the people, I found that the quality of products and quality of workmanship was top notch, and the price was very reasonable for the quality. I found that there was very little markup for equipment compared to what I could find online, likely due to volume discounts that Brian secures. The crew that came to my house to mount my tv were on time, very respectful and timely. They put shoe covers on, tarp down over my rug and brought a shop vac to clean up any mess. Brian and Peter (and the rest of the team) are just fantastic. They have done this for me twice now in two different houses in Seattle. Most recently, they took a 1990s era in wall speaker system and updated it to work with Sonos AMPs and 2020 era technology. And then did a great update to a home theatre setup (even identified a buried low resolution cable that was reducing picture quality and restrung with HDMI). They are worth every penny--they were happy to use equipment that was still useful and made good recommendations on the equipment that needed replacement. Brian's service and attitude were very disappointing. When our new system had no sound out of it, he wanted to charge us to come out and fix it. He whines and moans and has a poor attitude. He told us the universal remote was "very intuitive once you've had a tutorial." Um...I don't think that word means what you think it means. The owner, Brian Ritchie, was awesome to work with, and he was the only seemingly competent out of our estimates. He knows his stuff. Plus, he offered suggestions with real reasoning as to why it would sound better. He didn't push in-ceiling speakers on us, like some others did. I noticed a lot of other companies attempted to ask us what we wanted and how exactly we wanted it setup. I am not an expert on this; we needed professional guidance on what, where, and why... Brian met that need. We were referred by a friend who used Brian for their own entertainment system. We got other estimates before deciding. HESI was not the cheapest bid, but Brian also did not offer his cheap stuff. He prepared an estimate with mid-level equipment, which was great equipment, come to find out after my research: The Onkyo receiver rated as a best http://www.consumersearch.com/home-theater-receivers; the speakers we decided on were by Monitor Audio which is a top European brand best known for excellent-performing HI-FI two-way speakers. We got an upgrade to the 280s; we wanted to step up, since we decided on no center speaker. Everything sounds AMAZING & we are picky!!! Honestly, we were never super impressed by the setups that we listened to at Best Buy, Video Only, and Frys. The Bose systems sounded good in the store with their special setup, but were never powerful. We looked into everything... It is a difficult decision when you can't hear the product before it is installed. This is why I did extensive research into audiophile blogs to make sure first. If audiophiles, with their extremely particular detail to listening, love Monitor Audio, I would love them too. My wife was very comfortable being in the house with a huge crew of people and they were all very courteous and respectful - Peter did a great job of explaining how to work the new (and somewhat complex) universal remote - When the job was complete, Brian followed up and ensured our complete satisfaction. Jury is still out and this guy has the ability to redeem himself but so far, our experience is he makes promises he can't keep. We paid him for an expensive diagnostic visit and have received nothing. We've been waiting 2 MONTHS for a follow-up appointment. He's busy obviously but he shouldn't take on work he can't complete within a reasonable time. I will update this review when we finally get results from him. Sorry, not a fake review, TVs were older models (the company is insistent about getting TVs from them even though Costco et al had newer models available). Speakers are crackly, just not good. I would suggest going with a company that has better infrastructure like Video Only, or Beat Buy. read more

I can't say enough good things about Brian and his team. His tech Peter, in particular, is patient and intimately knowledgeable about the products and technology he is installing. Brian was referred to me by a vendor who had heard good things about his work but didn't know him directly. We took a chance and were both blown away by his thoroughness, patience, professionalism, attention to detail and ability to roll with changes and provide new suggestions. He worked with the contractors, within our budget and everything was done to spec and on time. That was a year ago. Since then I've had a few little things go wrong (always user error I might add) and Brian has responded within hours to my email requests for help and has offered assistance. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Brian, James, Charles, Peter, Carl....they were all awesome. These guys were highly recommended by two other friends. We were in the midst of a significant house remodel and we had totally forgotten about low-volt. While we were hemorrhaging cash with the rest of the remodel, Brian came out and gave us some great ideas that wouldn't kill what little budget we had left. James and Charles started with the basic rough-in for speakers, internet and TV to get us off the ground..and in only a few quick hours. Then as we neared completion, they gave us options for all of the equipment and hardware to consider and their prices were very comparable to buying online but you get their professional install....and I mean PROFESSIONAL. Peter and Carl came out for the final install while my wife was here. They were quick, courteous, clean, quiet and super helpful in walking her through using all of this new technology. We've also got options to expand the system in the future. But we're rocking in the house and the backyard which is perfect for our love for having family and friends over. This is the second time I have used HES for product and Installs. I live in Olympia, WA and that has never stopped Brian and his staff from drinving this distance to help our family with our Audio/Video needs. I am NOT a personal friend as Maddy M. states and I can't speak for how the other reviewers know Brian and HES. My first install was a TV, 5 in wall speakers, subwoofer, hidden tower with receiver under our starewell and remote for our media room in a 2 year old home. They also installed 2 outdoor speakers in our outdoor patio room and ran speaker wire to the back of our property for future sound. The cost, quality of product and his staff are the reason that I had them come back for more! Today, Brian had Peter and Wes come down to install a new receiver for our media room, program a new remote and mount a new 75" tv upstairs in our new theater style room. Additional speaker's, receiver and subwoofer are giong to be installed once they are able. The industry that they are in is competitive and he is just that, with his pricing, but to be honest one of the most important things to me and my wife is the type of people that Brian has that represent his company. Each person that has come to our home as a representative of HES has been knowledgable, professional and overall a trustworthy person.
