Everything started out fine, untill the roof leaked. They came back and hopefully fixed it. But when they did, they didn't reattach the siding correctly when they put on the ice and water shield. So the Siding fell off. We called them. They said it wasn't there fault...None of the installers spoke English, they had to write it down to explain what they "fixed". Stay away...!!!! read more

There's no continuity between the guy who knocks on your door, the salesperson who comes to do "an inspection" and the laborers who do the work (NOT employees of Home Genius!). Don't hire Home Genius to do your roof and siding. First, the employees don't speak English, play loud music, and even show up wearing pajamas. The professionalism was the least of their issues. They damaged many things on my property and proceeded to claim it was not their fault. This included tearing 7 of the 9 screens, ripping the hot tub cover, breaking the garage window, getting a nail in our tire, and breaking an outside light. Just to name a few. I even had to buy a magnet roller to clean our yard and driveway. Despite all this, the roof is not complete, and the siding is crooked. They said they got the siding ''straight as they could'' after readjusting multiple times. They also did not hammer in all the nails on the roof. The cherry on top was the bill, which was much higher than the agreed-upon price. I wish I could go back in time and save myself the heartache. read more

Extremely dissatisfied - not the "white glove" experience we were promised We chose Home Genius Exteriors over several other companies specifically because of the warranty and the "white glove" experience that their sales rep promised. Despite being the most expensive quote we received, we felt reassured by their claims of over-communication, a dedicated project manager, and a live stream option so we could monitor the work while away. Unfortunately, none of these promises were fulfilled. Before signing, we were told no one needed to be home during the installation because a project manager would be onsite, keeping us informed every step of the way. We were also told we'd be able to watch the work via live stream. This was key, since my wife was out of town and I work night shifts and sleeps during the day. That entire structure of communication broke down. We were never notified when the materials would be delivered. The delivery person arrived without warning, and my wife had to speak to him through our Nest doorbell while I was still asleep from working overnight, had to be woken up by the delivery guy pounding on the door just so he could help direct where the materials should go. The night before the install, I texted the project manager to ask if it should be rescheduled due to predicted Severe thunder storms/Flood warnings. I was told the rain wouldn't start until 3pm. That was not the case. Heavy rain hit by late morning. During installation, they discovered additional work was needed involving extra boards. Our rep previously told us we could source those ourselves from Home Depot or Lowe's to save money. More importantly, our contract clearly states that no additional work would be done without a new signed Scope of Work (SOW). Despite this, they went ahead and completed the extra work without our approval--based only on a single text message sent while I was asleep. My wife's number was provided as the backup contact, and she received nothing. When I eventually spoke with the project manager, the tone was unprofessional and dismissive. We were told, "Well it's already done," and asked to come sign paperwork and pay. This was a clear breach of contract. After pushing back, they agreed to absorb the cost, but that level of mistrust and mishandling should never have occurred in the first place. And regarding the promised live stream? Never happened. At that point, we couldn't even be sure whether the roof was installed before or after the rain. Even speaking with management didn't help resolve things professionally or respectfully. Bottom line: We do not recommend Home Genius Exteriors. You're paying a premium price for what's supposed to be peace of mind and exceptional service--and instead getting poor communication, broken promises, unprofessional interactions, and serious contract issues. read more

I never received a quote, didn't see the quote. I thought he felt since I was a woman he could tell me anything. I kept telling him I have been looking for a company for awhile. I am not about to spend kind of money when others are way..... lower and their shingles rate as high as Owen Corning. I hesitated before doing this review, but the salesperson asked me to do one and it may help him with gas. I took it, he, wasted his gas coming to my house. They also came back out to repair the window that we couldn't close, which given the snowy and freezing conditions we're currently experiencing is much appreciated. I requested a quote and a representative came and used drone to take pictures of my roof and had presentation in total it took over 3 hours. The representative said he would send a quote and the drone pictures. It has been over 3 weeks and I haven't received anything. I finally sent a text message to the representative and line is no longer in service. So I sent a email to his email address and it is not available. But the company keeps calling and emailing me asking for a review. I have consistently said how can I give a review when I have not received anything from the representative. read more

TLDR: I recently had one of their salesman out for a free estimate and unbeknownst to us, the salesman filled out a loan application in our names, with our information, and signed (forged) our signatures on the loan application. Full Story: I had a salesman out from home genius exteriors. Upon meeting him I was explicit in that I was only looking for a quote to compare with other roofers in the area. He seemed to acknowledge this as he said okay let me do my inspection and I'll get back to you with some numbers. He did his inspection and then went through his spiel with why we should choose them and the products they use and how they're better than other companies in the area. He then started asking us for information about ourselves as he said he wasn't given any of our details. So we started providing him with the details as we were going to be financing the roof replacement, in the situation we would be working with them. It was after this that he asked for our bank account information for a deposit at which point I said I'm not giving a deposit because we hadn't decided on whether we were going to be working. Mind you we hadn't signed a contract with them. It was at this point roughly 3 hours later that the free estimate finished up (it was only supposed to be 60-90 minutes). Once he left we went to bed since it was 9pm at night and 1 hour past my daughter's bedtime. It wasn't only till the next day that I had realized that the salesman had illegally and unknowingly filled out a loan application in my wife's and my name and electronically signed it without us ever having read the loan for financing (we would never have signed the loan because we hadn't determined whether or not we were working with them or not). Fortunately I was able to get in touch with the loan servicing company and cancel the loan before any damage had been done. I would highly caution anyone working or considering working with this company. read more

Very unprofessional, didn't show up on date they said, called of work to meet with them and nobody showed up, lost a days pay.. then a crew showed up that couldn't speak English.. project manager had to use translator on phone to talk to them. Almost cause I fire on roof, I had to help Crew do some of the work and go buy materials to remedy a dangerous situation.. Go up on my roof and do job myself. I had asked them about this concern before job started and they told me"they'll figure it out".. then sat in the truck playing on phone . When manager first showed up he thought I was part of the crew... A bunch of scammers.. then close to a year later try and say you owe them money .. these ppl are overpriced crooks... Shady unprofessional scammers ..They also tried to leave with job not finished.. if I had not been home I would had a house with siding missing. They got windows wrong... What a great experience I had with Home Genius Exteriors! Each and every person I dealt with was professional and personable. Tim spent time with me taking drone photos and explaining the materials the company uses. Every issue with my roof and gutters was explained along with photos to show where the damage was. The crew showed up on time and worked until it was dark outside and returned the next day to complete the process. I had much more damage than I thought so I am so glad I chose to get the work done now instead of waiting until spring. At the end of each project. (the roof and gutters were done on different days, Justin came to do a final inspection. I receive images of all the before, during, and after work done. I am very pleased with the results. What an eFing nightmare these incompetent bastards were. They literally left their lunch trash strewn around my lawns--I spent two days just picking up Gatorade bottles and lunch wrappers and paper bags and plastic fountain drink cups and straws and CIGARETTE BUTTS from everywhere. There were slivers of aluminum and metal to pick up---twice I stepped on pieces. There were whole 6-inch aluminum spikes on the ground. There were discarded roofing screws on the ground--one of which punctured my tire that I had to replace. The roofing screws were wasted and strewn about my yard and all over my deck. The back of the roof was left undone---FOR MONTHS. The way it was left undone and cut looked like one of Frankenstein's scars. FOR MONTHS I spent on the phone with these nimrods BEGGING them to send someone to clean up the mess AND TO FINISH THE DAMN ROOF. It was started at the end of June and left undone until October / November---and had I not been harassing them weekly, it would still be undone. The excuse after excuse after excuse from the regional manager was just pathetic. They left their dumpster sitting in my driveway for 2 months---I had strangers coming to my home at all hours of the day and night digging through that dumpster. I had to BEG them to remove the dumpster from my property---and after harassing them over the telphone for a month, they finally removed it. They left roofing metal---whole sheets of roofing metal and the angular roof valley metal just sitting in my driveway. I had to be the one to dispose of those. They left a whole box of rolled aluminum in my yard. I had to be the one to dispose of that. They left unused 2x4s and pieces of lumber in my yard---I had to be the one to dispose of those. I had to call GoodLeap several times and tell them that I wasn't going to pay anything on the loan if I didn't get help from them to pressure those asshats to come and finish the roof---they NEVER came to clean up their mess. Once the roof was finally done by competent roofers they had to hire from somewhere else, they had to the nerve to ask if I would leave a positive review. I asked for a quote on a roof from home genius remodeling which was to take 90 minutes. It took 3 1/2 hours and I was coerced into signing a contract for the job that started out at over 25,000 then went down to over 21,000 then I was told rock bottom prices were 18,665. I kept telling the salesperson I needed time to think that this was a major purchase. He kept at it for over 3 hours. I literally had a migrane and a knot in the pit of my stomach after this. I called to cancel the contract this morning and I was told I had to send a certified letter stating that. I was never informed of that at all . I never even received my copy of the contract via email. I was told to call back at 11 and both times no one was available. Thankfully no deposit was given even though I was being coerced to give a check that wouldn't be cashed even though the money wouldn't be there til maybe Monday. You ladies out there your not stupid follow your intuition it won't lead you astray. The company is overinflating prices. These guys came door to door to solicite our business for a roof. I entertained them and scheduled an appt for an "expert" to come out and give me a quote. I do need a roof, so why not see what these guys come up with for a quote. After 45mins of listening to his shpeel about how good they are and watching his trainee look on dumbfoundedly probably rethinking his life choices, an appt was scheduled for 2 days later. I went in the house after they left to see how bad these guys were, and I was not disappointed in the amount of negative reviews. They seem pretty consistent with "didn't show up", "showed up late", and "quote came in 3X everyone else", so I knew what to expect. Sure enough, 6PM came and went. 7PM is here and no signs of a truck, or a phone call so I decided to call them. The lady on the phone was nice enough (it is her ONLY job, so I would expect her to be), and I said "Yo, where's your boys at with my quote? They're over an hour late!" She put me on hold and came back 5 mins later to say their truck broke down at an earlier appt. Riiiiiiight. "So nobody bothered to call me to reschedule? You only have 1 truck for all of Western PA?" She didn't know what to say. I told her to cancel my appt, and to put me on her DNC list because I've seen some reviews where the company likes to call and hound you non-stop. I haven't gotten a call from them yet, but I kind of hope I do so I can waste their time like they did with me. Needless to say, if a company has to come door to door to beg for business, that's a huge red flag. Any reputable business is so packed and busy that they wouldn't have time to go door to door. Do your research, and be sure to look at ALL the reviews....the real ones....not just the ones written by employees (which are super easy to spot because they don't have ANY details in them), and don't take the salesman's word for it about all the glowing reviews they have. I had my roof redone by Home Genius Exteriors about a year ago. They also did new gutters and replaced some of the fascia/soffits on my house. The materials they used were good (as other contractors who came to my house pointed out), however once the work was completed, I have had a few issues come up. Getting ahold of customer service in my local area has been a NIGHTMARE. Do not use this company if you expect any sort of customer service. They are extremely disorganized; when I called about flashing that they installed had come off my chimney, I was told yesterday that my questions can only be answered by the corporate office that runs on west coast time (I am on the east coast, as is the woman I spoke to in their MD office). I never received a call or email back to follow up. This is a completely different experience than what I had a few months ago when I was able to be transferred to the local production team, who still lacked any quality communication skills. So either they no longer have phone numbers or local project/production managers, or they are full of BS. For as much as I paid, I expect much better customer service, ESPECIALLY for warrantied work. What good is a warranty if there is no one from the company in the area to perform the work?? My project was installation of a metal roof over an existing (and steep!) asphalt shingle roof, and also new gutters. I've had a couple of bumps in the road this past year with less than scrupulous contractors on two other projects. So before we got started, I had been somewhat anxious about how a major project like this would turn out. Contact with each team member set me at ease and earned my trust. There were no high-pressure sales tactics when Anthony came to give me fair price estimate. As a senior, this meant a lot to me. Mike went the extra mile to ensure that the material I had picked out is Energy Star rated (tax deduction!). Lauren in scheduling was enthusiastic and quick to respond. She made sure that communication with all appropriate team members was professionally coordinated. if I could give half a star I would. This company claims to be the best around. Two jobs later and both were doing half heartedly. The first job being the roof. They left nails all through my front and backyard including my front door. They could have easily been stepped on. No one came to clean them up even though I was told they would. The second job was windows and 2 of the 6 windows were missing parts even though the job was marked complete. One window is missing a lock screw that holds the screen in place so now the Screen can fall out. The second window is missing the trim. They say I don't need it's only cosmetic....it's on all the other window! I'm paying a hefty price for these windows and have had them here 3 times to hear the same story. I am a completely dissatisfied customer. If you claim to be the best then you should take into consideration pride of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
