Since Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are all right around the corner, they've already put out a ton of decorations and items all around the store. Of course, they have their usual furniture, wall décor, rugs, kitchen supplies, bedding, etc... As most home décor, stores have. This go around I picked up a few fake plant pieces, a few towels, a new shower curtain, and a few candles. I think if you can really dedicate some time and you can really find some good stuff, but the store itself is really somewhat cluttered. They seem to be a little understaffed, but the employees have always been kind to me so I don't have any tragic customer service stories. Following the recent passing of my mother, I traveled from Illinois to Michigan to prepare her home for sale. As part of that process, I purchased paint for the project and simply overestimated what I needed. I attempted to return one unopened gallon of unused paint that was just 5 days beyond the 30-day return window. The cashier suggested I speak with the Paint Department supervisor (Sean, I believe), who immediately and professionally said he would take care of it. Unfortunately, once the Store Manager got involved, the entire tone changed. Rather than demonstrating discretion, empathy, or customer-focused judgment, the manager rigidly hid behind policy, citing that the paint was tinted, purchased at another Lowe's location, and slightly beyond the return window. What was most disappointing wasn't the denial itself--it was the complete lack of thoughtful consideration for the circumstances. As a longtime customer, I understand policies matter. But great customer service also requires leadership, judgment, and occasional flexibility. The Paint Department supervisor represented Lowe's well. The Store Manager did not.
