The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!

The regular priced items in the front of the store were outrageously priced, even damaged items & not small damage, ripped furniture that would be costly to repair & chipped ceramic and glass items that I'm not sure could be repaired. There were also some beautiful pieces, way overpriced beautiful pieces. I can not anyone buying something from this place, you can find the same thing's elsewhere & priced as it should be. I have a house full of it that I love, enjoy, and paid a fair price to the seller/store for. I could never imagine enjoying something bought from ModMart, I would be too busy kicking myself.

Something goes wrong a while down the road? No worries! They can look up your purchase history and quickly arrange repair. Please see below After months of LIES, DECEIT & broken promises of delivery for furniture that I PAID for I finally received a resolution thanks to Cree from the Royal Oak location of the House of Detroit. I placed my original order at The house of Detroit Dearborn location which Sylvia runs. I was supposed to receive my delivery on 2/5 but no one called to schedule a delivery time. I called on 2/6 but no one answered, I finally was able to reach someone in the store who informed me that due to the weather there was a delay with the pick up from their warehouse & someone would call me the next day to schedule the delivery the time. Well no one called, no one answered the phone or was at the location. For weeks I reached out by phone, messenger, email and visited the location but didn't get anywhere, the store had a hand written note on the door to reach out to them by email but those emails were never answered. The neighboring business told me that other other customers had stopped in to see if anyone had been to the store because they also paid for furniture & was being ghosted by the owner.. Finally after not getting a single response I was connected with Cree who contacted Sylvia directly regarding my order. I was informed by Sylvia that my order would be delivered the following week. Of course it never happened she never answered her phone again but did relay messages through Cree stating 2 more delivery dates but that was just another lie.. I'm extremely grateful to Cree for ALWAYS being patient & professional with me even though my transaction was not with her or her location. Her hands were tied she was just the middle man! Cree answered every call & text in an attempt to get the original transaction resolved. It was because of her that I finally got this resolved and was able to purchase my items from her location. My items arrived earlier than expected with not one issue at all. I feel bad that she's had to deal with clients from the other location who's orders were not fulfilled or could not reach the owner but am grateful for her for going above & beyond, her good customer service, compassion & professionalism in getting this resolved for me.. I look forward to doing future business with HER for other items. I highly recommend The House of Detroit ROYAL OAK location for your next furniture purchase.
