We ordered some extra kitchen cabinets and paid our initial deposit 7 months ago. The second payment was taken after the cabinets arrived. The side boards were too short and the crown moulding and handles were missing. A new side board was ordered. another 16 weeks with no update. An installer came out eventually and said he could not install is it would never work out and left. Months went by with unreturned messages and calls. After six months of numerous requests for a refund we were told we will refund you after someone picks up the pieces and brings them back. To date no one has picked up the cabinets and side boards. No refund and we're still calling for a pick up. The delivery and pick up team say they know nothing about it. Over $5000.00 still in their pocket. Will never do any business with them again. I was passing thru town and didn't expect a retail hardware business would close by 6pm on a weekday. I walked in (the doors were open and the lights were on), one employee asked if I needed anything and said they closed in 30 seconds. He was corrected loudly and immediately by other employees who said they were already closed. Then, as I walked into the main aisle and over to the exit, I got yelled at by an employee about how they were closed. By now, it might have been 6:01pm. I've never known any store to be SO rude and obnoxious. When I went to the exit doors, they were already locked. And, the entrance wasn't letting me out. It took about a minute for the employees to figure out how to even let me. Given the situation, it seems they had locked the exit BEFORE the closing time (likely, a serious fire code violation) in their angst to leave not one millisecond past closing. All in all, pretty much all the employees streamed out the door by 6:02pm. I wasn't planning to wander around for long, especially once learning they were closed, but I would expect to have been treated with more dignity about the matter. Most places I've been give you at least a few minutes after closing to wrap up one's shopping and get out. Clearly, these employees don't care about customers enough to even be pleasant and courteous in their demeanor. Having worked in retail (food) and professionally, I'd never expect to be out the door within 2 minutes of closing time. I certainly wouldn't recommend this business (or these awful employees) to anyone. read more

The service at Home Hardware Penticton is by far the worst I have ever experienced anywhere -when buying appliances I went to Home Depot to give model numbers so I could order them from HH. -tiles 6 months delivery after HH ordered the wrong colour twice. -kitchen cabinet designer is a young kid with no experience whatsoever. he did not order all the parts required for the installer so had to order extras, then waited for the installer to come back . -countertops were the final straw. On order but could not get a call back from the kitchen kid on anything. all in all order and deposit placed December 24. Installed April 9. Should have been 6 weeks -still no counter tops. The most interesting of all this mess is HH really don't care is you shop there or not. I sure would not want to be the owner of this HH. read more

Needed some baseboard and casing. The product was priced by the lineal foot and the employee I spoke with indicated I could get the number of feet I wanted despite the pieces being longer. When I got to the yard to collect the product, I was informed that the product was priced by the foot but only sold by the piece meaning that I was charged for 32 feet when I only needed 20. Fortunately, I noticed this before receiving the product and was able to get a refund but the question is why price a product in units that can't be bought? read more

While I haven't personally had a bad experience at this store, I just overheard an employee rudely arguing with a disabled customer, demanding to know what they were doing in the store and insisting that they would scratch up the merchandise by wheeling past it, and even arguing back when the customer said they could handle it just fine -- which, by the looks of it, they did! I didn't say anything because, well, I'm a coward, but it made my blood boil! Completely unprofessional manner and it really put me off. read more

Stay away from flooring consultant, Brad. Doesn't know what he is talking about. The man doesn't listen, therefore he costs customers hardship, extra work and lots of money unnecessarily. penticton store ......purchased a truenorth pellet stove ..within the year the stove exhibited problems, of course it was attributed to lack of maintenance. however after replacement of the motherboard (warranty) the stove again performed like it was new. the 2nd winter again the same problem reoccurred . talks with homehardware broke down quickly as the maintenance was again in their eyes the problem. also the previous motherboard was tested (supposedly by installing in another stove) and was A ok.......... well after purchasing a motherboard and installing the stove again worked exactly as it was expected to. after much investigation in the internet have found others that expressed the same problems with their tn40 stove . after reading thru all the comments one gentleman commented to save a few more motherboards for him to test as the last ones that were saved he had forgot to take with him upon his departure. i really dont know what to believe any more however treated this way i may as well buy from the internet in future as this store certainly has forgotten who their customers are. SHOP LOCAL...................why i get better service from the internet and in a timely manner. you dont even deserve 1 star. way to force me to give you one!!! :) read more
