Can't say enough good things about Dan. He was very responsive and called me back the same day. He was easy to book with giving me a three hour window and arriving right in the middle. Not only was he on time but he worked quickly and was very thorough. When I called him I couldn't even tell him what model we had or even what was wrong with it.‍ I just knew it hadn't been serviced in a long time and it wasn't working 100% correctly. He came right in took it apart cleaned it and figured out the problem. Luckily he had the part with him and it was fixed right away. Home Plumbing does fireplace repair! Dan Schilling is a licensed plumber, but highly recommended. Our fireplace was home builder installed over 10 years ago. I wasn't disappointed. Dan Schilling said he repairs quite a few fireplaces each year. Just be warned that after September, he's really busy. However, I called him at the end of November 2017 and he came out pretty quickly December 11th. Our problem was the flame in the firebox pulsed then eventually went out. He explained the thermal dynamics of the pilot ignition and relationship of cold/hot air and how even the log or glow cotton can affect this pilot flame and is why our flame would extinguish after 10 minutes. Really knowledgeable and patient with all of my questions. The repair took about an hour and was very reasonable. CA license# 460572. read more

Dan was friendly and took care of my fireplace quickly. It looks as good as new and his price was beyond fair. In regards to the 1 star comment, the reason she only paid $150.00 is because Dan left all of his parts there that night to finish the job the next morning, so the guy finishing her job used the parts that were left and didn't charge her what it would have actually cost. Dan installed a new gas line for a cook-top and also handled the city inspection. He called to confirm both the estimate and installation appointments in advance as well as on his way over. I never had to wonder when or whether he would show up. Of course there's always something else, so while he was here he also installed gas fire logs and fixed a running toilet. I originally called on Dan to install the gas components for our backyard fire pit. I appreciated that his number one priority was on safety and asked a lot of questions about the way in which my fire pit was being installed by my contractor to ensure that it was being done properly. Once he came out for the install, I was incredibly happy with the quality of materials and the finished product. I've since called on him to replace 2 toilets. During the install, we realized that he couldn't replace one of the toilets as it had a built-in marble shelf right above it that connected to a vanity. I thought I was stuck having to totally remove the shelf and vanity, but Dan suggested that he could carve out part of the shelf just enough so that he had some wiggle room for the install. I was a bit nervous but gave him the green light and he returned the next week with the proper tools to make it happen. I couldn't be happier with the result and appreciate the ingenuity! And while I have a small carve-out in my shelf, it actually looks like it was meant to be there! Thanks Dan for going above and beyond! read more

I went by the yelp reviews to repair my fireplace. I would not recommend this repair service. Dan was scheduled to come to my home between 4 and 6 PM. I receive no phone call by 7PM to let me know what time he will arrive-- I had to call to find out what was happening. Dan eventually shows up at 8:30 PM for a 4 to 6 PM repair. He takes 1 1/2 hours to "repair" my fireplace. After he gets done with it, my fireplace would not even ignite any longer. Then he tells me a gas valve needs to be replaced and that this part would cost me over $260, and that the repair will cost over $800. So he tells me he will order the part and that he needs to schedule another appointment, and that I would be the first appointment of the day at 8:30 AM. At 8:30, again no phone call, nothing, I have to call him and he tells me he will be there at 9:00. At 9:10-- still no phone call from him letting me know he will be late-- I call him again, and he tells me he will come at 9:30. By now I am fed up and tell him I do not want him coming back to repair my fireplace anytime ever and that he has no consideration of other people's time or schedule. I eventually contact another fireplace repair service, and I am able to get my fireplace repaired for $150 where Home Plumbing was going to charge me over $800. I do not recommend Home Plumbing to anyone. Terrible, frustrating experience with this business. read more

After only three years in a new house, our fireplace suddenly stopped working. We did lots of Internet research for a repair person and decided to contact Dan. He returned our call right away, and in addition to fixing the fireplace, he replaced a valve under our stove. He is very knowledgeable, and honest.
