I am disappointed with their policy. I needed a remote replacement. I was advised I would have to pay over $400.00 for a full inspection then the price of the remote. I am a repeat customer and was told there was nothing else that could be offered to me. I Paid for a full inspection 2023 or 2024 and the year before had an inspection as well. I was told it's not needed every year unless there are problems. But their policy now is of such if they touch my insert, even removing the glass to hit a reset button for the remote they would have to do a full inspection. So total Cost would be close to $600.00 when all that is needed is a remote. I did find a company to Come and handle the remote only but I would have rather stayed with Fireplace Tech. Had a great experience with Angel, Luis and the team. Very friendly and experienced folks. They showed up at the start of their arrival window and were able to diagnose and fix the issue with my gas fireplace in about 90 minutes. This is of course after spending hours trying to diagnose the issue myself. The service fee was totally reasonable - I needed $45 in replacement parts in addition to the base visit price (new pilot unit, due to a kink in the pilot gas line). I had to wait 2 weeks for the appointment but I'm glad I did, rather than find someone with fewer and/or worse reviews. In 2023 fired former repair company and contacted Fireplace Techs. Today Angel replaced the gas valve on the fireplace and fingers crossed this has been the problem all along. Angel's work was top tier, he was very patient with my multitude of questions about the mechanics of the device, worked very cleanly and efficiently, and super important to me - ZERO collateral damage when pulling apart the unit and reinstalling. Not sure how this place has good reviews....we moved into a new house and called fireplace techs to have the gas fireplace serviced to ensure it was working properly. The technicians arrived, were at the house for maybe 5-10 min, said there was a gas leak in the valve and they needed to order a part that would take 3-4 weeks to arrive and the office would call to follow up. 6 weeks later we hadn't heard from them at all so I called to follow up. They looked at the notes and said the technician detected a gas leak and left because it was unsafe and there are no parts that can be replaced. What?!?! Completely not was happened at all! And why did they not indicate the possible severity of the situation that could put my family (including 2 children) in serious danger?? We're looking into possibly taking legal action for their negligence. Definitely would not recommend this company. read more

We have two 25+ year old gas fireplaces in which the pilot lights wouldn't stay on to light the fires. I contacted Fireplace Techs through Yelp and I was immediately very impressed with their responsiveness in answering my questions and with the great communication in setting up the service appointment. On the day of the service two representatives from Fireplace Techs came to our house on time and wasted no time in cleaning out the fireplaces and diagnosing the problems. They replaced the Thermocouples on both fireplaces and both fireplaces are now working as good as new. Fireplace Techs did a great job at quickly diagnosing the problem, replacing the parts, and cleaning up the fireplace. I was very impressed with their professionalism and the work they performed. Heads up Lafayette residents. We get special pricing. Can't speak to the actual service but I just called to see if a technician could come to my house to inspect my gas fireplace. I was immediately asked where I lived and there was a $100 up charge. If I lived in Concord the service would be $280 but living 10 minutes away in Lafayette the same service was $380. He was very transparent about his schedule as he was traveling, and told me he didn't want to hold up our project if it was time sensitive. He was also completely transparent about how much the installation would cost. Such information is otherwise hard to come by. My fireplace was at a shop in Berkeley, I asked Luis if he could pick it up with some extra cost since we don't have a truck. He was extremely accommodating. When we were planning the installation, Luis gave us some options for the vent pipe location, and was very flexible, offering to wait if it was best for us, or continue with his crew that afternoon. We pressed forward. The unit was installed such that our major home renovation could continue, he said we could call to finish the installation at any time. The final stages required some work and Luis was again very flexible, accommodating, and clearly competent. we are thrilled about choosing him to work with. Highly recommend. read more

Terrible communication from trying to get someone out to my house to trying to get them to come back with the parts and fix it, to getting them to come back *again* and fix what didn't get fixed, which was minor, but still should have been done right the first time. They charged me $260 to come out and give me an estimate, which took them 15 minutes and I was told me the total would be $480. Total, not an additional $480. They gave me nothing in writing, but took a check for $260 so I had some evidence they did something. They "repaired" my gas fireplace insert, however it now works differently than before! The remote control no longer works and they never told me that would be the case! My bad for not insisting I get something in writing. Questionable business ethics to say the least. We had moved into our home about a year prior, and one of our gas fireplaces didn't work (we were told it was just a remote that needed new batteries... which wasn't the case) Since that was squarely during Covid, we put it off until recently since I knew I wanted a cozy fireplace during the holidays and wanted to try and avoid the winter/holiday rush! I did a few searches on Yelp, and Fireplace Techs came up highly rated. Luis was super fast to reply and I was able to send him a few photos via text, as well as set-up an appointment. They were also up front about the service charge + any potential additional fees (which honestly was about half what other companies were quoting me...) Marvin came out exactly between the 2-hour window he said he would. He got right to work and had our gas fireplace cleaned and working in about an hour. Turns out the ignitor was broken, and he was able to replace that and also show us how the fireplace worked. It was such a great experience, we asked if he could take a look at our other fireplace that had also been acting up. While he didn't have time that visit to repair it, he did take a look, make recommendations and we were able to schedule him to come out just a few days later. Marvin and Angel came today for the service call on our gas fireplace that has not worked properly since we moved in 3 months ago. It took a while to get an appointment, as they were swamped in December, but we did get a call to have our appointment moved up 10 days to today. Marvin figured out the issue with the wiring and replaced the wires that were causing the issue. He is was extremely knowledgeable, efficient and helpful. He even waited around to insure the fan also kicked on. We are keeping their information and will use them for any fireplace issues/upgrades we might have in the future!
