My search for a new chimney sweep company had me marvelling at the consistently good recommendations I kept noticing for Crown. After using them, I can say that the hype is truly deserved. The communication from owner's Tina and Jerry is truly stellar from start, to finish. I was pleased with the appointment date and they were able to get us in even sooner with a cancellation. TJ and Jerry were professional, polite and cleaned up as they went. Jerry was inventive in how he solved an unexpected issue and I appreciated both the practical suggestions and the reasonable pricing. So happy to have found this company!

We have just found a leak in our wood burning fireplace and called Canadian Chimney to see if we…read morecould have it repaired and to find out the extend of damage the water had caused up to that point. They told us they had two levels of inspections, one where they barely do anything and one where they do a thorough inspection for $300 and if we chose them for repairs and it if it costs more than $1200 they would give us 1/2 of the inspection cost back. We chose the thorough inspection. The guy that showed up took some pictures with his phone, but half of his report stated he couldn't inspect areas because they were concealed (not very thorough). When he was finished his only concrete recommendation was for us to put a sign in the fireplace that says "do not use". He said his company already had angry clients due to services being pushed back and they couldn't do anything with our fireplace until at least 3 months from now if then. When we asked about damage to the house he said he didn't know because of concealed spaces and when we asked about what we could do in the meantime he said we could go on the roof and tie tarp around the chimney. So we have now paid someone $300 to take pictures of our fireplace where we could already see it for ourselves and we have no idea about the amount of damage, what's needed for repairs, how much they will cost or what we should do next. All in all it was a complete waste of money. We now have a different company coming this week to give us a free estimate on repairs or replacement and I wish we had gone that way first.

I was also given false advice over the phone that has now been quality checked by both the fire department and home inspectors. I would not recommends using this company.

We booked Alta Chimney Sweep to come in and clean the fireplace/chimney in our new home. The…read moreowner/possibly only sweep showed up, spent 20 minutes on the roof and declared we didn't need a clean. He gave us a quote for a $1,075 chimney fix job claiming we had no cap and there was holes in our chimney and our home inspector should've told us (even though we clearly have a cap, and only minor cracking). He then spent the next 15 minutes trying to convince us to sue our home inspector in small claims court to foot the bill!! At the end of all of this, he still charged me the full price of $136 dollars for the cleaning claiming it was an inspection fee. Some inspection, he wouldn't even check our log lighter. I basically paid for him to come out and do an estimate, but no cleaning. When I called his office to complain the next morning I was told he was the owner and well that was the end of that.

Price was quite high considering he was 1 hour late and done everything in 16 minutes. This included conversation before and during cleaning. Would have been better if he was honest and said hey your chimmney doesnt really need cleaning. They also did not tell us that they accept only cash or cheque. For a business run for decades they should take a credit card for convenience. If this business is on repeat business then I think if you happen to get a clean chimmey which does not need too much or any cleaning at you should say so and charge accordingly. Cant help be feel like being ripped off unfortunately.

I've hired the Alberta Furnace Cleaning division of this company twice now, the most recent service…read morecall being last week. I found things a little confusing this time around because AB Home Services now contracts Fur-Max Professional Services to clean furnaces, so when their truck showed up, I wasn't sure of what to think. It would have been nice to have been told ahead of time. I had a few other surprises. The two servicemen were considerably more thorough and pointed out my disgusting chimney stack and bathroom fan, which no one has done before. I'm sure they've never been cleaned. They were courteous enough to show me the grossness first and ask my permission to clean them after warning me of the costs. I also ended up realizing we've neglected to change our humidifier filter regularly, so they had one on hand and did that too. I feel much better about having a few extra issues addressed, but the costs associated with some of the extra work are pretty high. My bill was just shy of $450 and my spouse nearly had a heart attack. I don't feel I was coerced into paying extra because I knew what I was doing, but for about 1.5hrs of work, that's a little crazy. They altered the temperature of our hot water heater, which isn't a huge deal, but I wasn't thrilled with it either. I am grateful to have learned a few new things and I may or may not use AB Furnace Cleaning/Fur-Max again based on more fee research the next time around. I must say that the two servicemen were very friendly, which clearly helps with sales. I also received a follow-up phone call for feedback. I booked the furnace and duct cleaning service for Tuesday, Jan. 14th. They provided a window…read morebetween 12 and 5 p.m. and texted me a reminder a day prior, which I confirmed. They called and texted me at 11 am to see if the technician could arrive earlier which I declined. Called me again at 11:30 am for the same thing. The technician called me at 11:54 saying he was at the site. It's my investment property and I don't live at the service location. I told him that I was on my way and should be there in 15 minutes. They called me at 12:06 saying the technician had left because I was booked for the starting 11:30 am window which was completely wrong. They pushed me to come early and I dropped everything to be there. I reached my home by 12:10 but they couldn't wait another 4 minutes and counted me responsible. They could not wait a few more minutes when I told them that I was on my way and should be there in 5 minutes but they wanted to be there about an hour earlier. What kind of appointment system are they following? I had a bad experience earlier too and took it lightly but the repeated bad experience forced me to write another review separately.

Before this latest job I would have given them a 5 star but o how quickly an opinion can change. We hired Top Roofing systems to handle a small removal and installation project at the home that they previously has worked on. The job was done just like we asked except for when the tires on our vehicles started to go flat. 9 nails in 2 tires!! 9. Not 1 or 2, hell I could even understand 3 nails but 9! The response we received from Juan the owner was not I am sorry or how can I help. It was " so do you expect me to pay for your tires? After I did you a favour and only charged for materials ". We didn't ask for money I just asked how he would like to proceed, considering the circumstance. Job big or small shouldn't matter. Stand behind your mistakes and don't try to put it on the customer. Did I put the roofing nails on the ground in the place I park? I think not. There are many roofing companies that claim to be better then the rest, but if that is the case this job would have cost me what it cost me, not the work + a brand new set of tires.
