What a great replacement for the Big Lots that was here before! Really awesome new store in UP that I'm sure will do well. Their theme is "home furnishings at bargain prices" in my opinion, and they do well at that. It's amazing the prices some of the items are priced at... lots of "Big Lots" kind of price bargains but on a vastly broader and higher-grade selection of items. It's easy to "get lost" in here. Yes, it's a tad crowded in the merchandising and can be a little messy while they're moving stuff around - but given the amazing array of what they sell, in the space they have available, they've done a great job. Please please stop having your cashiers push credit cards and donations. Or at least have them take no the first time. I said no thank you to the credit card 3 times and no to the donation 2 times. I donate directly to causes of my choice that is support. I do not donate to corporations. Please it ruins my entire experience. read more

Stop following customers that have been in multiple times and spend a decent amount of money each visit. I think HomeGoods forgets that they're selling overstock items and items that nobody wanted in the first place. Came into the store this afternoon and was so excited to find four items I had been looking for. Went to check out and Ken, who was working the register seemed inconvenienced that we said yes to having the items wrapped. But when he tried to sell us the Home Goods credit card and we politely declined. He would not stop trying to sell it, "Are you sure you don't want to save $14, today." And it kept going with four more times of us declining. He started to get snippy and irritated because we kept saying no. I have never felt so unwelcome when just trying to check out. Great selection of trendy items, great prices! I used to work at a TJ Maxx when I was in high school, over 40 years ago!

It's 2020 and I believe the management is much better. I waited a few weeks after they reopened to visit. I couldn't wait any longer. The excitement of non-online shopping was REAL. The measures taken to follow social distancing practice was impressive. Plenty of clear signs, decals on the floors, and registers that all have safety glass. Store was very clean and organized. I've never reviewed a HomeGoods, but honestly the guy working there today (10/11/18), I think his name was Richard?? Anyway, Mr. Sassy Attitude -- he made my whole day. He had great lashes, a great attitude, and helped me shove a piece of furniture in the back of my car that I probably should've packed and shipped myself...but I digress...he was awesome and yeah. Also, the selection of trinkets and things was fine. I've seen more Halloween stuff at the Federal Way location, but Mr. Sassy made that store lit so that's that. read more

I cannot stop raving about my experience with Randy today at your location in University Place. I was going to Trader Joe's to pick up some Pumpkin Joe-O's (tis' the season, after all!), and stopped by today to potentially look for some caramel candy corn that I recall grabbing sometime last year. Randy and I combed through the shelves for at least a half hour- I came out of it with some clearance patchouli and a new votive holder, some pumpkin candies that remind me of Brach's brand but so much better. Randy, I will not forget our conversation about yorkies and their cute little Halloween costumes- Snowball passed last year but I just had to buy a few because they were so adorable. I just love this store. It has an amazing selection of things you don't necessarily "need", but you want! I like the fact that there is pretty much just one of each item, and if you don't buy it, someone else will! I got a huge beautiful glass ornament for about a third of what you would pay elsewhere. Man does this Home Goods have a great selection but I was at this HomeGoods a few months back returning/exchanging items I had bought the day before at the Federal Way location. Having worked retail before I brought my receipt and even had it pulled up on my email as well. I pointed out to the manager that the lady who rung me up at the Federal Way location had accidentally rang up the same item twice. I brought in the $2.99 sponge packaging and showed her the sku matched with the one on the receipt. She told me that my story "didn't add up" so I showed her again. Eventually, she noticed that the sku was in fact the same and refunded me but no apology or anything. I flat out said "why would I even try to scam y'all $2.99 because I had purchased several $50 items as well. Clearly, she should not be in a manager position. read more

I love this store, but I will never spend another dime at this location after listening to how the manager talks to her employees. Reading past reviews, reveal similar situations from a year ago. This indicates that the Home Goods home office staff have done nothing about the issue (assuming its the same manager), which is not ok with me. I called out the manager while I was there even stating there were multiple customers apalled by her actions, but instead of owning up to her mistakes, she simply walked off. So instead of buying the things in my hands, I set them down and walked off too. I won't give a company like this my money. I was shopping for a few Items in the university place homegoods store for a few items for my home, At first I didn't think anything of it. A employee showed up on two of the Isles I was browsing on, I brushed it off as him just stocking the floor or straightening up the isles. But then when I got up to the register to pay for my items along with another shooper no one was at the register I looked around I saw the. Employees were standing around talking I waited along with the other customer until I felt no one was coming I told the other customer I guess they don't want a sale ! I'm big on customer service so I respectfully put my items down and and started walking out and the other customer stated they followed me around the store now no one is here at check out! This store knows what they carry is junk. Nothing is garunteed to last longer than 30 days. Two months ago I bought a stool for my vanity for about $65. Unfortunately about two weeks ago, one of the legs of the stool broke. I was disappointed beceause it was really cute, but I had the receipt, so I figured I'd be able to exchange it or get store credit. Nope. They didn't care that I had the receipt showing what I had originally paid. Even though the product had broke due to normal use, Richard said the store's policy is to offer what the product is currently being sold for -- $25. Total rip off. read more

I really like the store's selection and prices and am happy to have this store so close to my home, that I'm in the process of decorating! I am not impressed with their customer service though and that's why I've had to remove a couple stars. I was looking for a specific item - had a picture and the price point of an item I'd seen at the store before - but one employee told me she didn't recognize it (that's fine, she might have been new), another told me she'd call other stores and then did nothing while I waited (perhaps an issue with working with phones?) and then another employee (she appeared to be a manager) told me that she couldn't even call other stores without a style or item number. Really? You can't call your other stores with a description of a very specific item? She was very rude about it and seemed put out that I would ask them to make this call. I told them thank you anyway and I would call the other locations myself - which took me about 10 minutes and each store was happy to look at their stock based on a description. read more

Store - great. Customer service - awful. Let me start by saying I love, love, love HomeGoods and was very happy and excited to have one in University Place, where I live. I went in tonight to pick up a small wicker basket and found one that would work, however, it did not have a price tag. Based on the other baskets that were similar, I surmised it would be about $7.99. After waiting in line (only one register open), I went to check out. Jeanette was the person's name and she was very nice. She called for a price check and we waited... and waited. Finally Shalom (ironic name) shuffles up like it's the last place she wants to be. Jeanette handed her the basket and asked for a price check. A few minutes later Shalom finds her way back with a item that was neither the same size, material or purpose. Completely different in every way. Also not comparable in price. She says it's the closest thing she could find. When I explained that there was another basket that was more similar and described it, she just stood there staring at me with a "I couldn't care less" expression on her face. I then offered to show her where it was. She just kind of flipped her hands like 'whatever'. When I proceeded to walk back there, guess where it was? In with the baskets! Big surprise. I showed her it was the same size and even had a lid like the one I picked out; it was $7.99. She then tried to tell me, very rudely, why the plastic utensil holder was more like my wicker basket than the wicker basket I was showing her! Huh?! Flipping her hands, rolling her eyes, f.u. attitude. So, when I took the comparable basket up to the register and showed how it more closely aligned with my basket, another woman, who appeared to be a manager (I'm using that term loosely) stated they would not sell me the one I wanted for the same price. She then called Shalom AGAIN to find another basket. At this point, I said 'forget it'. All this trouble was not worth it. Jeanette sincerely apologized and I thanked her. In the future, I will go to the HomeGoods in another location, but probably won't go back to this one. SO disappointed! read more
