Did an okay job with the roof replacement about 5 years ago. Left a lot of nails in the yard that we were picking up for a few years. Now have several areas of shingles coming loose. Called to see if they can remedy and the warranty on their work only lasts 1 year. Didn't seem particularly concerned or willing to help me find a solution. Lots of roofers out there, as we know many aren't good, unfortunately, this is one of them. read more

This will be long so please bear with me. I used HomeGuard Roofing through a contractor who is no longer with the company. The service at the time was incredible and the job completed was beyond satisfactory. It's a shame that contractor left, because my experience with this company has been beyond despicable ever since. I used HomeGuard to replace my roof after a hail storm. We have solar panels on our house and part of my contract with HomeGuard stated that they would pay for the cost of the removal and reinstall of the solar panels (about a $3,500 total cost). Over a year later, I get notice from a collections agency that I owe my solar panel company about $1,800. I do a little digging and discover that HomeGuard paid for the cost of the removal of the solar panels, but never paid for the cost of the reinstall. It took me more than 6 weeks after receiving this notice for me to finally reach someone at HomeGuard. That included calling multiple times on a weekly basis, several comments on the website, and multiple voicemails. When I finally reached someone (Stephanie), she sounded apologetic and asked me to provide a copy of my original contract and she would get that taken care of (it's anyone's guess why they didn't have this on file). Stephanie advised me to contact her directly concerning the issue from there on out. I sent her the contract within minutes of talking with her but didn't receive a response. I moved on assuming the issue had been resolved. Flash forward to about two months later when I get a notice that I have taken a hit to my credit due to this issue not being cleared with the collections agency. A little more digging and I confirm that the remaining balance was never paid even after Stephanie said she would take care of it. After another few weeks and multiple attempts at contacting Stephanie (again with no response), I threaten to post negative reviews and publicly advise no one to ever use this company. Surprise, surprise, Stephanie responds within a matter of minutes and asks me to send her an invoice for the remaining payment. I contact my solar panel company and get them to provide an invoice. Stephanie responds and says that the issue has been "elevated to management." That was over a month ago, and I just received another call from the collections agency that the balance STILL has not been paid and confirmed this with my solar panel company. I have contacted Stephanie (again) and have yet to receive a response. Since apparently HomeGuard will only respond to negativity, hopefully this review will help light a fire under their butts to resolve this. Let this be a lesson that if there are any issues in your experience with HomeGuard, they CANNOT be trusted to resolve them in a timely, professional manner. I would absolutely advise anyone looking for roofing services to avoid HomeGuard. read more

Just for the record my wife and I have really tried to becool in light of what's happened. In review, the crew who did the roof were extremely careless throwing shingles all over the place. Zero regard for us needing to exit the house with nails and shingles blocking getting out of the house.I'm now picking up bottle tops that they didn't even bother to throw away after having lunch, they let my neighbors dogs out and pretty much had zero regard for her property. Now I bring up to you that there are streaks all over my house and some of my screens are ripped and you question that I'm not telling the truth? If you had told me these all things were going to happen before you sold me a new roof I would've said no Brent, No thank you. Are these normal events your roofers have with every customer? Seriously, if this is what you call good customer service, it's terrible. UPDATE 8/11/19 So hail again this year twice the size of last year. I call HomeGuard to ask what if anything is cover under warranty. No call back, no email, nothing. To boot the roofer that did get in my roof is saying the roof installed by HomeGuard last year was done poorly "at best" nice huh? Am I surprised? No, not really in light of everything else that happened last year. When large hail hits any area $$$dollar$$$ signs flash for unethical roofing companies. To cash in they put out as many crews as possible without regard for the actual work being done. No supervision, no regard for the homeowner, just more cash in their pockets. Shame on you. read more

Sean Clifford is an absolute roofing professional. He identified every problem my roof had and then worked closely with my insurance company. The entire roof was covered and replaced for the cost of my deductible. Sean personally supervised the new roof install and even suggested a high impact shingle called the GAF Armor Shield II. I already got a check back from State Farm for 700 dollars as a premium refund for the upgrading this shingle. I will never use any other company than HomeGuard for roofing in the future. HomeGaurd, if you read this. Sean is an absolute asset to your company. Hold onto that guy. read more

The team that replaced our roof was friendly and worked very quickly. However, after my insurance company and I paid HomeGuard more than $20k, the end result was a roof that failed five inspections and a swamp cooler that they had moved which was no longer functional that the company refused to take responsibility for breaking. read more

Homeguard is a great company. They tore down and replaced our hail damaged roof in late summer of 2017. Our sales associate, Alex, was very informative and was always quick to respond to any correspondences. While the crew worked on our roof, they kept the area very neat and would clean ip before they left each night. I was referred to Homeguard by my insurance company after the June 2014 hailstorms that swept through our area. Danny Fix was the first representative I met, he made a prompt appointment, and after a brief inspection, told me my roof was "trashed.". I scheduled an appointment with an insurance adjuster, and Danny met him at the house and they jointly inspected the roof. To my great surprise, I was told by the insurance adjuster that I had very minimal hail damage. For various reasons, I asked for a second adjuster to come out, and Danny sent another Homeguard representative. The 2nd guy from Homeguard wouldn't even go up on the roof - seemed to agree with everything that the insurance adjuster came up with, and quite frankly was of no help at all. I had all but given up - but since I was still picking up pieces of shingles from the yard every time the wind blew - I kept after the insurance company - minus any help from Homeguard who vanished from the scene altogether. After six inspections - I finally got the insurance company to cave - and they decided that half of my cedar shake roof was damaged. The check from them was enough to replace the entire cedar shake roof with impact resistant newer asphalt product. Since I had no other contact, I called Danny Fix of Homeguard back - got a quote and proceeded to wait for them. I knew things were starting off left footed to start with, and I wasn't any more impressed when it took them over a week just to get back to me with an approximate starting date. They missed their starting date by two days. Further - they told me that the job would be finished in one day - it took them five. I had to call them back three times to get work on the garage roof around a support pillar to look anywhere near presentable. Not a single person on the crew spoke enough english to order lunch. I admire our workers from Latin America - most of them work harder than any other people I know - but at least the crew chief should have enough english to get by - apparently this isn't important to Homeguard. It was beyond frustrating. They managed to destroy every single gutter guard on the house - it took 2 weeks to get someone to come back and get new ones installed. Again - promises of when they would show up were just not kept. They neglected to get the city inspector to do a final inspection until weeks after the job was done - and as of today I have a crew back on the roof correcting flashing mistakes as the inspector failed the job. (Again - missing their stated deadline of when I was told the work would be done.) You would think they would be familiar with local building codes and simple things like flashing skylights would not be a problem. Yes, weather was a factor in some of the delay - but Homeguard obviously chews off a lot more than they can handle - and leaves no time at all for weather delays, or recalls to fix bad work or failed inspections. At no time was I left feeling confident that the job would be finished, or that it was going smoothly. The whole affair was stressful enough without having to deal with all the mistakes made by their crew. Hopefully the work done today to reflash the skylights will pass the inspection and we'll get past this experience. I'm fairly confident the roof won't leak, and it does have a warranty, but you can be sure I'm going to be keeping an eye on skylights for leaks this winter. I shouldn't have to be this worried about a new roof, and for that reason I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for a new roof. read more

Thought i would be happy with homeguard when they were recommended to me by my insurance for a sizeable hail damage claim to my home. That was before they took over a year to complete the work. I have had to have them come back twice now for roof leaks that I did not have before they replaced my roof. My fencing will not stay in place because it was cut too short. I am still finding cigerette butts in my yard from the crews and the stain didnt even last through the summer. Next time my husband and I will be fixing our home ourselves! read more

While they have tried to remedy all the issues we had since the hailstorm in July, I feel that they leave quite a bit to be desired out of a contractor. They bill you EXACTLY what the insurance company writes you a check for. I am in the Building Materials Industry and what the insurance company gives you IS NOT what it costs to repair a roof. Homeguard Restoration had done my roof late October 2016. After this experience, I would Not recommend them to a friend or family. They were one of the contractors that knocked on my door after hail storms we had in the summer of 2016, and I had let them check the roof. I picked a contractor that was recommended by a friend, but the first insurance adjuster denied the claim, so I asked for re-inspection because every homeowner in the area was approved due to the powerful storm. The insurance asked for another damage report to redo the inspection, and that's when I contacted Homegurad rep to see if they can do it. They agreed to do it and had me sign a contract. Knowing that my claim was denied the first time was a strength point for them that they kept bringing up during the process every time I tried to question some practices, or inquire about estimates and billing. The contract stated the cost to replace the roof is "Insurance Proceeds". Not being experienced in these kind of contracts and the fact that I trusted them with everything had cost me much more than it should have. I asked for estimates before they replaced the roof, and even asked for a final bill 2 weeks after the roof was replaced, but there was no good answer because, per their explanation, they were still talking to the insurance about the cost. I think, logically, if the roof is replaced and ready to be signed off on by the county, then they should have had a final bill for the job done. Delaying the final bill due to negotiations with insurance and not providing an estimate prior to starting the work was the red flag for me to get frustrated and more suspicious. The whole attitude change before and after signing the contract made me uncomfortable. The rep I was talking to had verbally offered help with the impact of deductible, but that even changed after signing the contract. The final approved claim had items in addition to the roof itself such as window screens, paint dings, etc, that I was planning to have another contractor do, but they billed me for the whole proceeds, which the additional claim items were part of, and I ended up with no money to fix the rest of the damages. I think I got overcharged by an average of $1000-$1500. It was obvious that Homeguard focus was on insurance proceeds than anything else, and regardless of what the roof would actually cost. Usually, insurance companies approve more than what a job would cost on average. The rep also told me that I should receive a "depreciation check" from the insurance after the job is done, which I never received, but was billed for by the contractor. The quality of the new roof looks good and was signed off on by the county. The workers were nice enough and focused on the job, and they did their assigned job and left. I am not writing this review to negotiate any refunds, but rather I want others to know about my experience. Even if the job was well done, the charge was much overpriced. Also, and to be fair, if they fairly charged me, which I don't think is the case in my situation, the whole attitude change after signing the contract, and the fact that they billed me 99.9% of what exactly I got from the insurance, even without replacing/fixing every single item in the approved claim, made me feel I made a bad decision by hiring them. Again, I would not recommend them to anyone. If you hire them to do a job, just make sure you question everything and document every single item they offer as part of good service. read more

We had extensive hail damage from this last Summer's storm and chose Homeguard Restoration as our contractor. Danny and his team worked extremely hard to get the insurance company to pay for all the damages (took a couple inspections but the insurance company finally gave in). Ultimately, they were tasked with replacing a rooftop A/C unit, the shingles/vent stacks, the gutters and restaining the wooden garage doors (close to $35K in repairs). The first project turned out to be the A/C unit and this is where things started to break down a little. Because our A/C was a rooftop unit, we needed a lift/crane to come out and remove the old one/replace the new one. The subcontractor informed me that he might have to drive the lift/crane on the lawn but because of the damage he caused on the last job he would be putting down plywood to protect the lawn and sprinkler system. Danny assured me that he would be onsite to monitor the operation as well. When I arrived home that night, I was surprised to find 6-8" deep tracks over a fair portion of my lawn (almost $1K in damage). When asked, Danny told me that he was too busy that day with another job and was not around to make sure it went smoothly. He apologized profusely and did end up paying for the damage. I will not be able to fix it (or find out if the sprinkler lines ruptured) until the spring though... What a pain... :-( I found out that the subcontractor was a high school buddy of Danny's which is fine but I would hope that he would choose subs based on skill not friendship. The next project was the re-shingling of the roof... This is Homeguard's forte and it showed. They did everything to code, put in proper ice protection and even sealed the visible nails heads with caulking. The shingles feel tight to the roof and everything looks very professional. The only issue here was with a bit of cleanup (shingle material in the yard, few nails scattered about, etc.) but it was no big deal... Then came the gutters... The subcontractor that Danny hired for the job left literally hundreds of razor sharp shards of metal on the driveway and scattered around the house. My 2 year old son found the first pieces and thankfully just handed them to me to throw away. I spent hours out there cleaning up that mess (why didn't they just do all the cuts in one place to make clean it up easier?). The gutters themselves look fine but due to some rock work on my house, they were forced to paint some of the downspout pieces. I told Danny that I didn't want to have to repaint these every few years and wanted the same color as the rest but was told his sub could not get those basic parts in the basic brown color we went with (really?). After "completion", the gutters were filled with screws and shards of metal. Most of the corners were cut in such a way that left jagged edges (sure hope I never have to reach in there to clean them out) and the joints were sealed but most joints still leaked (made for some icy patches in dangerous areas this winter). The kicker is that they didn't even replace the only visibly damaged parts that they were supposed to. Danny said that he would send the guys back out but with the Christmas lights already on, the repair had to be put on hold. Finally came the garage doors... We instructed Danny to match the existing stain as closely as possible. The doors themselves had a very nice wood grain appearance that added a nice/stylish look to the otherwise drab stucco exterior. Unfortunately, the sub contractor that Danny hired (yet another high school friend) decided (without talking to me or Danny) that because it might give an "un-even" appearance that he would use a darker stain. The end result was that the doors look painted, the wood grain is gone and it will cost an arm and a leg to get them refinished/restained. It would have been nice to have the option of getting them sanded down a bit and fixed properly rather then now having to strip the paint, etc. Very disappointed in how this project turned out... Additonal fun fact, at the end of the job the sub tried to sell us a can of the unused stain! Sure, let me get my check book... :-) To be fair, Danny has offered to come out and fix/finish the gutters and try to make me "happy". Unfortunately, I have lost all faith in his subcontractors and his ability to communicate with them and if the quality ofthe existing work is any indication I certainly don't want to have the same people back out to fix anything. So, I am giving up and just paying Homeguard in full to end this fiasco. If I had known how this would have gone from the beginning, I would have just hired my own contractors or would have done the work myself. I really wish this would have gone better... Danny is a good guy but just seemed to lack the managerial expertise and communication skills to handle a job of this size. There is a very good chance that this was just a singular episode that didn't go so well but there you have it. read more

HomeGuard came highly recommended to me by a family friend, as I was looking for someone to inspect my roof. I was purchasing a new home at the time and my home inspector only did a visual inspection from the ground. I called HomeGuard and was told they would be happy to come check things out for me. On the day of the inspection, several nice young men from HomeGuard came out to do the inspection. They were on time, courteous and professional. They got up on my roof, did a thorough inspection and reported back that all looked great! The fact that this did not result in a sale did not change the way I was treated. In fact, they genuinely seemed to care about my situation and even gave my husband some great tips on how to check for damage in the future. The best part is they did not charge me anything for the inspection! They said word of mouth referrals were the best compliment I could give them, so that is why it was important to me to write this review. I would highly recommend HomeGuard Restoration to anyone that needs a new roof, gutters, siding, paint or windows! read more

After four months I gave up on being treated like the paying customer I am, rather than a source of income for HomeGuard. I would STRONGLY caution against working with them. They caused thousands of damage to my house, property and cars; they refused to remedy the situation; they refused to discount any work (considering they did not remove all of the debris as promised, they did not supervise or follow up with their subcontractors who incorrectly completed the roofing, they never apologized and they demonstrated some of the lowest levels of customer service I have ever encountered). HomeGuard was more concerned about getting money from my insurance rather than getting the job done - including calling my insurance agent names and insulting their opinion. Their owner who says they tried to remedy the situation missed the key point of customer service- APOLOGIZE, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY and FIX THE SITUATION. It was unfortunate because we were flexible with their scheduling, tried giving them multiple chances and they treated us disrespectfully. read more

I normally do not like to work with people who come to the door, but the HomeGuard rep, Brent, was very pleasant and not at all salesy. His assessment at the time was that we did not have any significant damage. I kept his card and called him just a few weeks later after a big hail storm. We did have damage then. They helped us navigate the insurance process and explained everything along the way. They did not require any payment until after the insurance claim was settled. The roof looks great, and the workmanship and service were exceptional. I would definitely recommend HomeGuard. read more
